Not the cleanest place nor organized restaurant Ive been to. Theres a sushi bar, tables, and a sushi boat bar. Most of the tables are only for 2. The sushi boat is in the middle so when the waiter is behind it they dont see the people sitting down needing help. I dont know if it was an off day or something, but there were only two people working, the man making the sushi and a waitress. Many people walked out because they stood at the door for 10+ mins waiting to be greeted and sat. The waitress asked for our order and before we could answer, another patron asked her for something and she walked away to help them. It took about 15mins for her to come back and ask us our order. I believe this is a place that caters to locals. The food was not the best either. The chicken teriyaki was tough, the teriyaki sauce was gelatin like, and there was more oil than sauce. I wish we had waited for a table at the sushi restaurant down the street.

I wish I could give it 0 stars, but thats not an option. From the time we sat down till we actually got our order it took an hour. The rice was like mud, and wouldnt even absorb the soy-sauce. We were 3 guests. 2 of us ordered, and the last member of our party asked for another minute to look at the menu before ordering. The waitress never came back, so all 3 of us shared what 2 of us ordered. We asked the waiter what something on the menu was, and he didnt know. Our grand daughter Googled it and got the answer. The worst sushi weve ever, and I mean EVER! eaten. Service was non-existent. The Worst! My wife asked to speak with the manager. Wouldnt tell her who it was, just stood there and looked her. Our grand daughter has been feeling sick to her stomach after the meal. We all felt like having a lump in our belly after the food. Not good!

My wife and I are sushi fanatics and decided to try this place based on the reviews it received. It was absolutely the worst sushi we have ever had. The place was not very clean; we were served by a woman dressed in scrubs, who paid little attention to us. The fish was clearly not sushi quality and had little flavor. Since then, we have been to several other, very good sushi places in the area and will not set foot in Sakura again.

Hands down the best sushi on the Central Coast! The owner, Kazu, is an incredible host and a better sushi chef. The service is usually a little slow, but thats part of the charm. I can, and often do, spend all night here sipping sake, eating rolls, and laughing with Kazu and Keiko. To all the hatred on here, you are totally missing the point, and you clearly have not had good sushi if you think this place is low quality.

The restaurant was empty when we ordered, and we waited 2 hours to receive some of the worst food. Hour for miso soup to arrive, hour and a half for salads?! I ordered the sashimi and it wasnt close to being fresh. Strong fish taste from all cuts. Walked out and got pizza in less than 15 minutes

Always look forward to coming here when Im in town. The owner is super friendly and an amazing Sushi chef. Sure, its not fancy, but Ive never been disappointed. We even got free t-shirts when we were there last year.

Amazing food. Weird but awesome atmosphere. Been going here for 10 years and its my favorite sushi bar in Monterey county. Everyone complaining of slow service is exaggerating!
