Ive grown up eating Mexican food. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2000, Ive often complained that Mexican food in LA is pedestrian and uninspired. La Carreta in East LA breaks the mold. This food is simple yet full of flavor. You will not be able to stop yourself from eating every bit of food off the plate - rice and beans included. The special cooks recipe... probably love and pride. Technical note: the website from google is not for this restaurant.

The restaurant was great!! The people were fun and very nice. This place is real Mexican from mamas kitchen type of food. I love the outdoor patio and the salsa bar. We loved the simple Mexican breakfast and homemade juices. We definitely will be returning back to this place for sure !

We probably go at least once a week for a variety of dishes- barbacoa, lengua, enchiladas mexicanas, BUT the Huevos Divorciados are the best. It used to be a hidden menu item, but now is a menu staple due to its popularity. The Service is outstanding. Highly recommended.
