I love this place. I have been going here since 1960. I always order the same thing; the All Beef "Gourmet" (thats what it says on the menu) Burrito with Green Sauce… YUMMY! I used to be able to devour this burrito in one seating but now that Im older I always have enough left over for breakfast. My compadres sometimes order other menu items and when I stick my long fork across the table to steal a bite it has always been delicious. Both the "plain" Quesadilla and the "plain" Super Nachos are the best that Ive ever had outside of Mexico. This now and has been for decades my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area. Try it; youll like it!

Yea, I have to agree with the other reviewers; the service is getting worse and worse. BUT, the good news for me is that their famous giant burrito is still delicious. I have been coming here for 39 years and all I ever get is the Green Chicken Burrito. It has gone by many names over the years, The Giant Burrito, Great Burrito, Special Burrito, Original Burrito, but now it is the Gourmet Burrito. Still pretty much the same. I can post my version of the recipe if anyone is interested. I am bummed about the service decline, but nostalgia and perfection trumps service for me. I eat here EVERY time I am in the Bay Area.

There are, what, three Mexican restaurants in Los Altos, and this one somehow could not figure out that a lot of people were going to come on Cinco de Mayo. Completely unprepared. The hostess was trying to seat people, run checks, clean tables and deliver food. This is the equivalent of a restaurant on Bourbon Street not knowing that a lot of people were going to be around for Mardi Gras. By the end, the food took so long to deliver, there were literally kids with their heads on the tables about to go to sleep. I have no idea if the food was any good because my mouth was full of vitriol by the end.

Not a total disaster, but dont come here if youre planning to do anything after dinner, because its unlikely theyll serve you before closing. Seriously it was like Cinco de Sucko, and their margaritas werent strong enough to make up for it. We showed up at 7 for a 715 reservation. We didnt get seated until 745 and we didnt get our food until 930. And the food wasnt especially notable, the refried beans were basically canned.

We came here tonight on a whim after looking up some reviews. We werent expecting anything exciting and we were blown away! Got the Pipian which was amazing, juicy tender pork in an amazing green mole sauce. I dont normally take left overs home since I know Ill just forget them in the back of the fridge, I scraped every last drop off that plate and an excited for lunch tomorrow. We will be coming back!

Just dreadful. Beer on tap was oddly flat; service was nonexistent, . My chicken Pibil was way over cooked (the whole dish was over-microwaved): the tortilla was hard as a rock and simultaneously soggy and tasteless. The place had smeared tortilla chips/salsa near the ladies room, and there were other signs of disarray. All in all a completely unappetizing experience.

Only the best! Family & friends have been coming here for over 40 years. Its evolved over that time, but has always been very good. The gourmet burrito is a classic, and the newer dishes add a wonderful range. As others have said, the mole is top notch. The chile en nogoda is special as well. Quality is always good and the service very friendly.

The food is amazing and the Margaritas were excellent. The male server with glasses however left a lot to be desired. I had to go inside just to get him to come out and get our order. After he brought us our drinks he didnt check on us till the food came. Even though he checked on the table next to us multiple times.

I really liked the Chicken Mole, and the chicken soup (not the one with just chicken/rice, but the one with the cheese, tortillas, etc.) were really tasty. The chips and three sauces were really good as well. Margarita a little watery, but still good. The tamales were very good too. Will return to try other dishes.

Sadly they dont have carnitas enchiladas on the menu but I can get them to make them...occasionally. They do have the best margaritas around. They hand squeeze the lemons and limes. I highly recommend, both the margarita and that they add a carnitas enchilada option. ;)

The general atmosphere is alright. The food was is also alright. The price is thw highest ive seen for a Mexican place. I am not a huge fan of Mexican good besides quesadilla and fajita, so weigh this review a little less seriously.

Fantastic food, and kind wait staff, make a highly consistent experience. Starting from the great service, well made drinks, authentic decor, and great music. I highly recommend this gem. Glad I found it.

Consistently delivers very good food in a casual/comfortable atmosphere. I love Estrellitas and have been lucky enough to have known about/visited this place for years. Try the Mole (...pronounced mo-lay!).

I hate to be mean as they were quite nice overall. I ordered a steak dish that was missing the steak. They comped it. Otherwise I waited 30 minutes to order. I am a push-over. Go somewhere else.

The food is reliably tasty. Ive picked randomly off of the menu half a dozen times and never been disappointed. The service can get a little slow when its busy, but thats not a deal breaker.

Hidden away from the rest of the local restaurant scene, this place is a great option for some good Mexican fare in a comfy environment. The mole poblano is excellent.

Came in for a late lunch midweek. Only 8 other people in the restaurant. Great service and really good food. Apricot Chipotle chicken was fresh, hot and delicious!

Extremely slow service on Friday night. Waited 20 minutes just to get the menu. Then waited a long time to get the food. And there was a hair in our food :(

Reasonable if unexciting/toned down Mexican: pipian was OK, free salsas were nice though. Outdoor seating is otherwise pleasant but next to a busy road.

Wow, really good Mexican / Oaxaca food. Was expecting less, but Estrellita over delivered! The Moble flavors were the best I have had.

The food is traditional, and spicy. Very good. Sometimes the wait can be long to get your food, but a positive experience all around.

Walk In and see for yourself. Authentic and beyond delicious. Pipian and mango guac were super. Cat wait to try some cocktails!

Regrettably Estrellita has changed their gourmet burrito from what was the best anywhere to something unrecognizably different.

Food was somehow disappointing. The waits are long (all 4 times). I think its not worth the price. But cute decor.
