They do not serve LAMB like the original Halal Guys in 9th avenue and 58th street in NYC. I buy food from this place because I miss the NYC food. The Long Beach Branch or Franchise is very stingy with the sauce. In NYC, they are very generous with the sauces of both white and hot sauce in big packets. Here in Long Beach, if you ask for a side of hot sauce, they are very stingy. First time, I ask for 3 packets (and they have small packets like the soy sauce in china restaurants), they gave me 2 packets. The second time I asked for 2 packets, they gave me one. I had a guest at one tine and did not know if he can handle hot foods, so I told the person serving if I can have the hot sauce on the side. I asked for 8 packets since I ordered 2 beef platters. He said sure, you will be charged 20 cents per packet. I said, sure Ill pay for it. I dont know why its free in NYC but not here. This happened yesterday Oct. 3 around 9pm. I guess this happens when you franchise and hire people that tries to impress you to promote them as management.

I was so excited that Halal guys finally came to California after I tried them in New York. TBH they do NOT taste the same. It tastes SIMILAR but the one in California DEFINITELY does not have that "old greasy dirty street" seasoning on it which makes it less flavorful. Im not saying the New York one is dirty ... but its like.... comparing a California Ghetto-Dog (bacon wrapped on the streets on la on tiny "probably illegal" carts at 2 AM of clubbing) and a regular bacon wrapped hotdog you make yourself at a BBQ. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. You want that STREET taste and feel to your authentic city life type of food and well... NEW YORK has it. Sadly the California ones dont open till 4am and arent made on tiny carts with historic grease flavor and instead are inside clean restaurants... so I was pretty disappointed in the taste. Also, I dont think the sauces here are exactly the same as new york. The hot sauce in NY is so much spicier.

The food lived up to the hype, given the capacity of hype is linked to a NYC street-cart. The gyro meat and white sauce are memorable, begging for another visit. As some have mentioned, it takes a strong stomach to enjoy this food regularly. My bowels speak halfway through the combo platter, five visits later. My hesitance in giving Halal Guys a 5-Star is the pricing, which seems heavily marked up to greet Californian hype-seekers. A scoop of gyro and ice-berg lettuce will run you $10. Granted, the rice that accompanies it is fantastic. But the unspoken "quick, affordable, and delicious" vibe of this corner-vendor idea was lost in its maturity to west coast franchise. I come back for more, but feel the flavors personality will fade alongside the brands SoCal hype.

Okay i feel like to many people i knew made this place seem amazing! Although i didnt hate it, i also didnt think it was amazing. The food is good exacly what you expect but the white sauce is a must try!!! The place has a franchise feeling and at 10 dollars a plate with no drink, its a bit expensive with a small portion. I only tried the plate im sure that theres other things that seem more economical on the menu but my meal lacked enough food to give me a really satisfied feeling. My favorite thing was the employee walking around in the small eating area with a bottle of sauce (whom i nicknamed the sauce boss) asking "ya want some sauce" probably the kindest weirdest thing that has ever happened to me in any fast food place.

I cant wait for the LA location to open up. Long Beach is just too far despite how delicious Halal Guys is. :( What I Ordered - Chicken and Gyro Platter with Rice, Pita, Lettuce & Tomatoes What I SHOULD Have Ordered - Chicken and Gyro Platter with FRIES, Pita, Lettuce & Tomatoes REGRETSSSSS!!!!!! T.T It was my first time at Halal Guys so I didnt know the process of ordering. I just saw the beginning of the menu. Platters? Okay! Once I paid, I realized I should have replaced my rice with fries!!! Ugh. I must come back! Big portions for a small. The regular is huge! Lucked out and came when there was no line at 10PM. Ill be in NYC in April. Hopefully, it tastes the same as the original! :)

Ive been hearing the hype about the Halal Guys for a long time now. Finally got to try it. Decided to come here since I was in the area and there was no wait at all on a week night! Had their combo plate with the white and red sauce on top. Red Sauce was a little spicy, but for you spicy lovers, you will love it! Ill have to say, be careful about the white sauce. It can be a bit heavy and you will definitely feel it in your stomach afterwards. Ive never had Halal food before, so this was good in my opinion. It just wasnt as great as how everyone hyped it up to be. But again, people are probably comparing it to the Halal Guys in New York, which is still something that I have yet to try.

Er mer gerd!!!! Hit the spot!!!!! Combo plate winning!!! Beef gyro winning!!! Chicken winning!!!! Hot sauce is ON POINT!!!! When it says, "Warning, very, very hot!" it means very, very hot. Not like everywhere else where it says hot and its really not...I love heat and I can honestly say THEY AINT LYING!!!! My cousin got falafel which was pretty darn good in comparison to high-end places Ive been. I have been trying to get to this spot since I found out that The Halal Guys expanded outside of New York and opened not one, but THREE locations in So. Cal!!! My only request to the owners: do you have any plans to move business into NorCal? I live in Sacramento!!!

I love coming here but tonight they did me dirty . I usually get alot of food on my regular platter with extra protein, I got one for me and one for my gf , I paid 29 bucks and felt ripped off for what they served me, skimpy with the white sauce and the chicken it looked like a regular plate with no extra ... when I was in NYC the plate was full of food what happened??? Are they not doing so well that they have to ration the food ?? Im disappointed, next time Im going to the other new location at Cerritos mall , since they are new they wont Skimp me out of my money thanks but no thanks .

Ive read a review from a yelp friend Nai.. "E-v-e-r-y time I find myself here, I ask myself "WHAT AM I DOING HERE?!" Lol. I baffle myself. I just cant force it anymore" and i completely agree. I just dont understand what people like about this place. They basically have 3 items. Chicken, beef, falafel, served in either wrap form, or salad. I hate their fluffy pita bread. Their white sauce is bland, and the "ass scorching" hot sauce isnt all that hot. The meat was bland too. I must admit I acknowledge that people love it, i just dont get it. Until next time...
