The food is fantastic, service horrible. This is one of those reviews that you feel conflicted. Ordered the Eggs Papi, in summary...eggs Benedict with sausage atop of Rosemary bread instead of the traditional Canadian bacon and egg muffin. I am not a vegetarian myself, but the overly salty sausage did not compliment the dish. Next time would order the vegetarian option "Eggs Noni ". The egg was cooked to perfection and had the soft, runny center. Hollandaise sauce was truly tasty. The yummiest part were the coffee drinks "Mocha Muchaco" an espresso with Mexician chocolate, steamed milk, heaping off what tasted like homemade whipped cream, and lightly dusted with cinnamon. The most disappointing part of the experience was the poor service from our server Jess. We were greeted on the patio with a cold stare and " Do you want some water?" Usually servers introduce themselves and politely offer any drinks, but apparently not here. I figured perhaps she was feeling overwhelmed and moved along with ordering our food. Just as I ordered my food she quickly left as I was about to order my drink. Super disappointed since I read such great reviews on their cocktails and wanted to try their watermelon Lemonade vodka. Food came out perfect and once more Jess returned to our table. I thought she was checking on our dining experience but instead reached inches from my boyfriends head (without excusing her reach) to grab a previous bill and walked away. In sum, had to ask another server walking by for a refill on coffee and another server noticed our empty plates staring at us was lovely enough to clear our table. Restaurants can have great food, but poor service displayed like today can really deter future clientele. Really wanted to like this place.

This hidden gem is really one of those diamonds thats hidden in plain sight. I cannot count the number of times Ive driven down Atlantic to Ocean and passed by this eatery. What made me decide to check it out? The Check-In offer. For me, a great brunch includes a great drink, and a free white peach sangria with check-in made me decide to stop on by. Located smack dab in between a Travelodge and another motel, Breakfast Bar is easy to overlook, however they have a high sign in what looks like the middle of the parking lot. Upon arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly staff and we were immediately seated. Checking out the meal prices, we gasped. I thought police officers were going to be waiting for us because we ripped off the restaurant. Hunter was awestruck by the $5 breakfast burritos that included a bevy of quality ingredients!!! I was perplexed by the omelette casserole with fresh fruit, Pico de gallo AND a potato pancake for $11?!? How is the place staying in business? However, after looking around at the crowded patio and indoor seating, it became obvious. The low prices must not equate to poor quality. The good and portion sizes were unbelievable. Everyone in our party was so excited and satisfied that they kept thanking me for finding a new breakfast spot. I was thankful that I went to yelp for once again, steering me in the right direction. Cute, clean and understated with great deals and even better food, I found my new budget friendly brunch location....

Packed place. Sounds like its pretty busy most of the time. Its next to a hotel so parking sucks. But it wasnt too hard to get parking around the corner. It was just two of us. So we waited for less than 5 minutes. Sat inside. The inside is rundown. 6 flies were huddled in the corner window and the temp. Inside was pretty warm and humid. Service was pretty attentive. However they messed up on my order 3 times. I ordered the tomato soup because I wanted something light and simple. It was disappointing. It tasted like warm salsa. Ive never tasted tomato soup like that. I have had different varieties of tomato soup. Some were more heartier than others etc. But this one tasted like salsa. One of the servers were pretty nice about changing my soup to the soup of the day which was corn chowder but even that wasnt too good. It was bland. My caesar salad didnt taste fresh. I could tell from the crouton . They were soggy. Presentation was awful. All my plates were dirty. They all had crusty food residue. I would have complain but by this time I was tired of complaining. My friend liked her food but she wont be returning either. Cucumber lemonade: three thumbs up. Yummy and refreshing. Bloody Mary: pricey and not great. This review is my opinion that is based on my experience. I respect the opinion of others. I may have just come on an off day?

About every other weekend or so, Im making it my quest to try out a new breakfast spot since its my favorite meal of the day. Since its close the beach and parking can be an issue in Long Beach, we decided to meet up at my friends place and walk over - about 2 miles. After the walk, you could bet I was super hungry and the long line was a bit discouraging but luckily a spot opened up just in time and we grabbed it. Service was quick and prompt which was greatly appreciated after that walk. We got ice waters and coffee to start and then decided to get the signature dish - Uncle Marcees omelet casserole. The omelet casserole is a mixture of bread crumbs, an egg and milk mixture baked and then topped with bacon and avocado served with a potato pancake and fresh fruit. This was so awesome. Everything came together really well and the fruit was nice and ripe. A great way to finish the meal and then the walk back helped burn it off. Cons: the outdoor patio. While its nice to have a bit of a view, the flies really ruin the meal. They really need to do more about controlling the flies but alas, its outdoors so you have to sort of deal with it but other than that, great service and a great meal. Well probably be back to try other things.

Not sure how I feel about this place. The wait is long. The food is generally good but, heavy. There is no AC in the restaurant and a bunch of flies flying around. Okay, I guess I wont be coming back haha. What We Ordered - Hang Over - Uncle Marcees Omelet Casserole The Hang Over was super good!! Two scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage served over french fries with sausage gravy, pico de gallo and spiced sour cream. No regrets ordering this dish!! It could be a meal in itself. The Uncle Marcees Omelet Casserole is a total rip off. It was $10.50 for just the omlet casserole with a potato cake and fruit. All the pictures on Yelp had toppings... which costed extra. I ended up adding bacon ($2.50), mushrooms (0.50) and avocado ($1.50). That added up to $15 for just 1 entree!! Not worth it in my opinion. It was really rich and buttery/oily. Good to try once but, definitely not worth coming back for. Thank you LA Weekly for giving me a bad suggestion for brunch. :(

Came here for brunch with a friend, buoyed by great expectations from all the great Yelp reviews! We got here at about noonish on a Saturday and it was BIZZAY, which was a good sign. We had to get their signature dish--the omelet casserole, which turned out to be every bit as good as Ive read! Wonderfully savory and satisfying, accompanied by nicely ripe fruit. The portions werent huge, but I found it to be the perfect amount. Plus, no leftovers to carry back, since wed walked over. Unfortunately, there were more than a few bothersome flies and the patio wasnt the most picturesque, but the service was very nice and overall we had a great time--definitely worthy of a return visit.
