Wow. How does this place has so many good reviews? I chose to sit at the breakfast bar since I was by myself, so I missed out in the views that I can only assume would improve the experience. Watching them microwave hot dogs and burritos is not appetizing even if you arent ordering them. I got the shrimp and crab salad. It was gross. The shrimp was clearly frozen and pre-shelled since most still had the little tail ends on them. The crab was canned... Which I can tell because canned crab always has those weird shell-like pieces that you cant chew. I gave up on that after having to spit out two bites in a row. So I ended up with a romaine salad with frozen shrimp, underripe tomato, and avocado that still had the woody end piece... I should have just bought my lunch at a grocery store. I still might. The people beside me were raving about how the chefs were such professionals and asked the server how much the wait staff makes (??? Which she told them... $31/hour!? I hope I heard that wrong. It was good service, but not that good.) I didnt see a single other thing either cooking or plated that Id want to eat, but everyone seems like the breakfast, so if this is the only place left on earth or something, maybe try the pancakes? I wont be back.

COMPLETELY OVER RATED! I will have to do more research before checking out new places based on Diners, drive-ins and dives reviews. I noticed many people noted the bad service and bad attitude as well. The food was ok, but the service was so poor that the food was cold buy the time everyone in my party was served. Even then, the order was not correct and we were still waiting for a couple items. We had a very hard time getting the waitress attention and finally had to get up and go inside to speak to a manager. As it turns out the owner was seated right next to us and when he came over to check on our problems was very dismissive and offered a token 20% discount on our bill. When the bill came, he only took the discount off the food and not the drinks. It was clear he didn’t really care. With so many great breakfast/lunch places in So Cal, this one is not worth the wait or any extra effort to visit.

My friend had invited us to have brunch at Schooner or Later. Had I known there was a line to dine here I shouldve came sooner than later. I think we waited for a good 30-40 minutes before we were seated. The location of the restaurant has a great view and is a really nice spot to relax and chill. I dont drink so I cant say much about the mimosas. I ordered their crab benedict and it was good. Not sure why people were raving so much about it but I thought there wasnt a lot of crab meat in my dish. The egg was poached and tasted nothing too specticular. The restaurant gave each of us a huge helping of hash browns. Service was average. I think our server was very worn out with all the customers coming in during the weekend. She was very fast in refilling our drinks though. Price wise it was a bit pricey for brunch but its not bad with the view.

We were given a "guesstimate" of 30-45 minutes for an outside table for two - we were finally seated after an hour and 10 minutes. We were completed ignored at our table for 10 minutes; we watched as a table for 6 next to us was cleared, the party seated, and their orders taken before the waitress even bothered to come to us. I understand that it is not the staffs fault that many customers get a table and then hang out long after theyre finished (or is it?), but they could at least be on top of serving those finally get to sit down. Our waitress was about as indifferent as they come. I also agree that their "world famous" dish, The Mess, was bland and boring - I had to douse it with hot sauce to get any flavor out of it. Since we dont feel the need to drink alcohol with breakfast/brunch, we will be finding another restaurant in the area from now on.

Popped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon with a girlfriend. We sat outside on the patio after a short wait. This place gets packed on the weekends and you can expect up to a 2 hour wait on some occasions. I personally dont have a tolerance when Im hangry... Once seated, I ordered the BBQ chicken salad. The portions here are pretty massive and very easy to share. The food was good, but not over the top amazing and totally something I can put together myself. The service was nice and friendly. Overall, nothing amazing besides the outdoor patio that overlooks the harbor. I noticed there brunch gets a lil cray with the champs bottles. Havent had the patience to wait through it, but I might come back for it some day...

We were in the area and decided we needed to try out one of the Diners, Drive-Inns and Dives places. So here we are. First off, this joint is right on the pier and they have seating outside overlooking the boats. Its awesome. Expect to wait, especially for brunch on the weekends, but thats OK. They have a full bar to satisfy your pre meal needs, and you can sip while staring at the boats. The menu is a little heavier, but I loved my wifes fish and chips. Just typical battered halibut, but it served my needs. I got the fish tacos. Also pretty good. I mean, this is pretty standard fair, but they did it well. The service was great, the ambiance was great. This place is definitely fun and I suggest it highly.

Ive tried to eat at this place twice now. The wait time on a weekend is unbelievable! If you arrive after 9 am with a party of 4 or more, be prepared to eat 3+ hours later! The hostess ladies continuously under anticipate the wait time and really dont have a clue how long until youll actually be seated. Also, you cant hear them calling your name. I witnessed several parties who missed their name being called and were scratched off the list after waiting nearly two hours. Sure the place may have been in an episode of Dine-ins, Drives, and Dives, but come on, we cant all be Guy Fieri and walk right in to the kitchen.

The view and location is amazing. It was the reason we chose to eat breakfast here. We are from MI, so when we go to Cali we try to eat anywhere new, as long as it has outdoor seating. We did wait a LONG time, but we went on a Saturday morning. You can have a beer or mimosa while waiting, plus the view is fantastic, so the wait isnt terrible. The omelets and pancakes are delicious. It was pricey, but we knew that. It isnt somewhere we could eat every day, but definitely worth it at least once every time we visit.

A great place to get brunch with friends on the weekend. The wait is pretty long, but it’s on the marina (I think where they filmed Dexter) and they have a full service bar. The drinks were very well priced considering the size and amount alcohol they gave us. Never been so drunk so early in the morning! One of their most popular dishes, “The Mess” (corned beef hash, eggs, cheese) was very flavorful and filling. My girlfriend got the cinnamon roll French toast- good, but not that memorable.
