Compartivly to all of the indian restaurants ive been to, and in the area, not good at all. Once again, relative to other indian restaurants, food was substandard in taste and quality. Meat used in the lamb tikka masala was burnt. Garlic naan tasted nothing of garlic nor seemed to be made freshly. A complimentary salad was given that consisted of sliced chilis and onion both of which were beginning to curl and were limp and lacking crispness of any freshly cut onion or chili. An advertised full bar was on the menu yet no hard liquor was offered at all, only beer and wine. The over all selection in terms of vegetarian dishes or non veg were paltry and unimaginative as most of the meat dishes were essentially the same dish but swapped out meat and the vegetrian roster was perhaps 7 or 8 options with again, much rehash but with paneer added. Even if its a rehash, one would at least expect that the food at least tasted good, but no. I wouldnt call in inedible, but i didnt enjoy it at all. Coming from an indian family and having gone to MANY indian restaurants all over the livermore area as well as all over cali, i was severely disappointed with the quality of food.

I have to say, Im incredibly impressed. My husband and myself were leery of ordering delivery, due to many establishments losing the correct order in translation, but Clay Oven was amazing in every aspect. They estimated a wait time of one hour. Due to it being a Saturday, that seemed not only reasonable, but far more tolerable than most pizza places. They delivered our order in 45 minutes, our dinner was prepared in plastic containers which eliminated the possibility of spilling, our food was hot, the portions were perfect, price was incredibly reasonable, the service was nothing short of completely friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. If I was forced to make one constructive comment, it would be that the sauce was a touch thick, but still incredibly rich and filling. Thank you so much for the excellent experience and marvelous food. We will be ordering in the future.

Food is decent, location is decent, but dear god the service is awful. Our server was pretty much the definition of how not to behave in front of a customer, with a good combination of largely ignoring us, flat out lying to us about the menu in order to get us to order more, and being overall insufferable. Go order at one of the many other excellent places in downtown Livermore, this area has plenty of good restaurants, and theres no need to tolerate bad behavior from a restaurant when there are so many places nearby with great food *and* good service.

Well to start off, clay oven has a no bowl policy unless you are using it for dessert. What this means is that if you are fond of curries, it is going to be all around the plate because you are not allowed to use a bowl. I could not believe it when I was told that. I had chicken and goat curry during the buffet which were good. Mutter paneer was okay but veg korma lacked flavor, and saag paneer lacked both flavor and paneer. Want to give them another chance but why waste $12 on buffet when there are better options around the corner.

Delicious food...top class service...ask for Niki, she is wonderful. We ate bhindi masala and dal makhani and both were very authentic, Tandoori chicken came in sizzling and it was yummy. And the breads were of the right texture and taste. Just the decor needs to be updated with newer seating and parking should be made available.

Excellent food. Until I tried this place, Indian cuisine was not my favorite. After trying the Clay Oven, I realized everywhere I had tried was not fresh and over cooked. Friendly and attentive staff. This resteraunt is in my top five to patron in Livermore.

Kind of strange decor, but it works. A little fancier than I was thinking from the outside. Went for lunch buffet, was fairly crowded and some of the items were all gone, but eventually restocked. Water was refilled promptly multiple times.

Excellent food. I lived in London before moving here, and I am happy to have finally found an Indian Restaurant which is up to the high standards I have been used to. Love the flavors, absolutely delicious!
