After a tough golf game a couple of buddies recommended we drop by Peanuts for lunch. I had my favorite sandwich shops in mind, both of which were closer (I was starving), but they promised me the best Italian sub I had ever eaten. This was a tall order, which I felt fairly certain they would not be able to make good. As is evident by my five stars, Peanuts delivered, and then some. One look at the menu and youll not only like the prices, but the variety is amazing. I was impressed right off. Not only is the atmosphere fun and friendly, so is everyone we met and served us. The place is a hoot, not to mention the complimentary buckets of peanuts are extraordinarily fresh (noting like Angle Stadium...). The only challenge we had was debating whether the Italian sub is best served cold or toasted. I opted for the owners recommendation and was elated I did - it was simply out of this world, unbelievably delicious... As to how I had it served, youll have to go to find out. I do want to add that portion was ginormous- so much so that I took half of it home for my teenage son who agreed it was by far the best sub hes ever eater. No exaggeration folks, it really is that good. I am looking forward to trying their other famous sandwiches as well, like the Spicy Tuna, but I think it just might be awhile as I cannot wait to return for another Italian Sub!

I love the collection of sarcastic signs they have on the walls. When I go to Peanuts, I always order the spicy tuna sandwich. The sandwiches are good and they always have at least one local IPA on tap. They give you a small bucket of peanuts and they expect you to throw the shells on the floor. I like the vibe, but if you cant stand to see messy floors, you probably wont like this place.

Just a heads up - this is a beer/wine only bar as of the writing of this review. This is probably the least pretentious place you will find in Irvine. If you want a chill place to grab some pitchers and hang out this is the spot. They have decent bar food and free peanuts too. The bartenders are really nice as well.

This is one of my favorite spots for great sandwiches. My favorite it their Hot Pastrami... Great atmosphere, great hangout spot... Local feel and hospitality...
