Lets be honest, the food is good. I been coming for awhile and only once has my food come out wrong. But....yes their is a but in this. The service I must agree is sub par. I recently come in with my wife and were initially greated once we sat with peanuts and ask for our drinks. Now is where it went down hill. I was on a call when the server came back to take our order, I told him if I can get another minute since I hadnt decided and was ending my call at that point. Well he gave me LOTS of minutes to decide. To be exact 22! It wasnt empty by no means but felt as if I was being punished for not having my order or possibly because I asked to come back like I stated on the phone ending my call. I had even tried to flag someone down when they walked by, seemed as I was being ignored. Not only until the table next to us left and someone came to clear the table and only after asking to take our order did they. Well that took 25 minutes also, a burger and an order of fish and chips? Im a Chef and I know from experience, dont need to be a chef to figure this out that it shouldnt have taken as long as it did, other groups some 4 whom had either ordered the same time or just after us were already eating. My wife is over it, Im at this point feeling the same. They need structure and not a free for all on who takes orders. They have a lame policy on that they all help the tables. How about assigning sections to your wait staff like normal restaurants do. Maybe there wouldnt be any confusion. All to many times like someone put in a post, the staff are lingering around the the bar. Someone please step up the game here. Its a shame management cant get everyone on the same page.

Been going here since they opened. Service has gotten so bad I will never return. Horrid service. Actually the worst I have EVER experienced. They completely ignored us for about 20 minutes last time I went. We ended up leaving. There were about 4 people at the bar and 2 other tables. The servers were just hanging out by the bar, talking, so the issue isnt being understaffed as apologists are claiming. Waited 5 minutes and went to get our menus since they didnt bring them to us(should have been a big hint to them), and asked for a server. Waited 15 minutes more at least, never saw server. As we walked out they were still hanging out by the bar. I have been patronizing this establishment since it opened. I will never be back unless I hear the words "new management". They dont even have a website. This place does not deserve your money. Go to the abbey or Espios or one of the other village restaurant/bars that are run by competent staff who at least pretend to care about their customers. Food is decent but over priced for the quality. Quantity is too much. I like good food, not mediocre bland food in huge portions. BC cafe(kickback jacks) is right down the street for that type of fare, and they have the prices right and servers that *gasp* serve the customers.

I visited Heros in late December, if youre not from the Inland Empire you might br unaware of how extremely crowded downtown Riverside gets in December, with that being said we found parking near the establishment fairly easy (we parked in the business area near Heroes, it was after hours so businesses were long closed by then). I would like to point out we were a fairly large group (8+ baby). So I dont know if that attributed to the extremely slow service, they did look busy, but people that were getting there well after us were getting their orders in quicker and were visited by the waiters a lot my than my lot. It was hard to some one down to simply get a refill. Well by the time we all received our food (I ordered a hot dog w fries and a coke) I was starving, but even then thr food didnt seem that great. I dont know if after the long wait I had built up some sort of crazy expectation, but for me food was simply okay. For the fact that the food was only okay I didnt see the justification in the price, its not crazy expensive, but what you would pay for a gourmet hotdog. So I have resolved to only go in a small group when I decide to visit again. This place is not terrible, just wouldnt be my first choice, for me the food was just not worth all the hassel.

Heroes has good atmosphere and above-average drinks and pub food. Why the 2-star rating? Heres the breakdown: (A) roughly HALF the beers on the menu had run out. the servers work in teams and several informed us that the menu needs to be updated and re-printed. (B) over the course of my lunch with 5 of my friends we discovered that Heroes does NOT provide a small taste of ANY of their beers. If you buy a pint or schooner or whatever, youre stuck with it. "Dont like it? Sorry, we cant take it off your bill." Thats what a server actually told us in a matter-of-fact way. We werent asking for 10 samples each or anything. My friends and I try 1 or 2 beers MAX when we go out, just to make sure were not going to have to dump out a beer we dont like. Id hardly call that taking advantage of the system. Heroes doesnt seem to understand that good will goes a long way. I wont be back. (C) There is a mandatory gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Which is probably the best explanation for servers only stopping by every 15-20 minutes and when they do, they were abrupt and unfriendly. Will I go back to Heroes? Definitely not this one. There are too many other competitors who care more about the customer experience.

This place has really gone downhill. I love good bar food and they have a great bar menu. Not sure but they are either understaffed or lacking quality staff during very typical dinner times (only 2 wait staff, a very pregnant bartender who had to help them out and according to our waiter there were only 1 or 2 cooks). We honestly gave them 3 last tries and the experience declined each time. Last strike was about a month ago. Wrong food, cold food, empty drinks for way too long, waiting forever to order, watching larger groups than our 4 come in way after us and eat and leave before getting our food, watching people give up and leave.... excuses and more excuses. Too bad, I miss eating here. I heard that the owners were busy opening a new place and have basically ignored this place... but that is just the word of one of their waitstaff. Either run this place right or let someone who appreciates their patrons run it.

Ive been hooked to Heroes & Legends for the past many years. Its a great place for me to quench my thirst on one of my favorite beers, Racer 5. The food never failed me either. Some great burgers but just about the best pastrami sandwich I ever had in California. As the the complaint below on credit card charge, I never had an issue of my card being charged wrong. However, just like some other restaurants I go to , the credit cards add some 15 or 20% authorization to cover tips in the event the tip goes on the card. I usually tip cash, and whatever charge authorization may be pending will eventually reflect to the charge I signed for. Same goes when I charge my card to pay for gas. I often see $100 pending charge then it clears to a lower amount. I would call the management if there really is a lasting discrepancy .
