My apartment complex is right next door to Nozomi and I wish I could eat there more often (daily sushi is not in my budget :/ ). I have literally seen them grow more popular every month from the window of my apartment, which overlooks the business complex on regents park row. Every night for several months, this place has been getting more and more packed. Its definitely one of the most popular sushi restaurants in La Jolla. I noticed other reviewers complaining about it being too cramped. Well, you can now put your worries to rest San Diego, Nozomi has expanded their dining area to accomodate La Jollas growing appetite for delicious sushi, and its as pretty as it ever was. Also, whats great about Nozomi is that I can bring the sushi haters in my family to eat here, since the restaurant serves delicious cooked food as well. It really is a great little spot ...which is not so little any more. Last thing - the Ceviche roll looks incredible. Its on my hitlist for next time.

We came here because weve tried the other two restaurants in the same building so why not? But we left with major disappointment. We moved to Carlsbad from Mission Valley in San Diego so were tried a lot of sushi places in SD. The quality of the sushi is pretty good but wow the prices are ridiculous and the menu is so small. Theres only a handful of rolls to choose from and why does everything have to have cream cheese or jalapeno?! $15-20 a roll and you add cream cheese?! I just cant stand it. Like I said it all taste pretty good but I just cant justify the price. Theres plenty of great sushi places in SD at almost half the price per roll. Other than that service was great. Conclusion: Save your money and try somewhere else. If money isnt an issue then by all means go here!

Didnt know about their happy hour until today, but they have some pretty sweet deals for sushi rolls (~2$ California roll, ~5$ Super Crunch roll) and beer (~3$ for a 16oz draught) before 6:30p on weekdays. Ive been there for sashimi before and it was pretty good (not as good as Toshi-San, but thats all the way in downtown), so I wanted to come back for their KTofu. As far as the tofu goes, it wasnt bad but next time I have a craving for KTofu Ill go to an actual tofu place where you can get all the fixings. Will definitely come to Nozomi again for happy hour sushi though! [edit] Their BBQ short ribs are really good. Generous portion, comes with rice, perfectly cooked, comes on a sizzling plate.

Friendly staff, good happy hour specials, weve done take-out many times and always been impressed at the attention to detail they spend on even that. Most importantly, great sushi. Everything tastes really high quality and you can tell they spend more effort on making it than a lot of places out there. But all that said, if you are just getting sushi and havent tried their chirashi salad before you are missing out - its something they do better than any other place Ive tried and often a deciding factor for where we go.

Weve been eating here since 2006 when we lived in student housing next door. The quality seems to be just as good as always, though the prices are definitely higher. Last night we had a crunch roll, yellow storm, and spicy tuna. Spicy tuna was somewhat boring, but the rest were really good. In the past weve really liked the pork yakisoba, tho they stopped listing that on the menu (but Ive been able to order it nonetheless).

I absolutely love this place, their menu options are so unique, I am a picky eater and they are always able to change the item I order with no hesitation! Ive been coming here for about 2 years now. The food is great, its a small restaurant and it can get packed by dinner time but they are always on top of things! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Our waitress was friendly and quick with our orders. I got the coconut shrimp roll which was fantastic, and also sampled several appetizers which did not disappoint. The food quality was above my expectation given the relatively cheap price, and the presentation was on par with much more expensive restaurants. This place is definately going into my weekly rotation.

I had the Shoyu ramen and salmon shashimi both were excellent and at a fare price of $12 and $4.95. Nice open outdoor seats with a projector screen and nice music. Happy hour is also very well priced for the area with select Japanese beers for $3. Will definitely come here again next time Im in town.

I liked this restaurant before, but not now. I found a small piece of plastic bag in green noodle. I picked out it, and asked to change the noodle. However, female manager told me "Its a just part of seafood bag, not a big deal. Do you want me to change it?" Thats not nice.

We have been here several times for work. Usually this place is terrific. We unfortunately had a poor experience our last visit. The food was not the freshest and the service was lacking. We will come back, but I hope that last visit was an off day and not the new norm.

I like the vibe and ambience. Not too many vegetarian options though - perhaps its wrong to expect that from a Japanese restaurant - I often just order the Veggie Yakisoba - a safe choice if youre unsure about the menu. On the more expensive side

Cut rate sushi place that finds itself lucky to be across from a hotel in a business park down the street from a college. Staff feel entitled and you should feel privileged to enjoy their snobbery and average fair. If you are stuck, I guess

Love it! Visiting from out of town. Immediately got a seat, lovely servers. They were busy so a little short conversation wise, but polite. Great food, great prices (especially happy hour!). Will make this a location to come back to.

Delicious sushi! They have the purple forbidden rice, which is fun and really good. Ive had the salmon avocado roll, spicy scallop roll, and the vegetable noodle soup. All were awesome. And it has a cute little restaurant as well.

slow service for a place thats not busy. took 30 minutes before they relized I wanted to order another roll. the overall rating for this place should not be in the 4 range. must have allot of local peeps that dont travel much.

2nd time here for lunch with a group of 9. Both times service was extremely slow and it wasnt specially busy. You get large portions of sushi, so its a good value if you have lots of time and can put up with the service.

As of a recent visit, the sushi quality has gone fat down hill. The prices are a lot more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but the quality is worse. The wait staff however is very nice!

The chirashi salad ( Hye dup bop) is pretty amazing and is huge for under 20 bucks. Good service but seating not always that good. Def recommend the chirashi salad... Its about the best I have tried.

Im really torn on this place. The food is great but it gets too loud and crowded and the bathroom is around a sketchy corner. Service is also slow. We usually just get take out when we go here.
