Deal with the server staff. We were trying to get some dinner on an impromptu basis with my family and friends from out of town. We entered and were told they were booked until 9:30pm despite appearing to be empty. The hostess was a very young girl who looked like she was forced away from her friends at the beach to dress up to be hostess for a high end restaurant. She didnt flinch to quickly say "sorry, were booked". We were a bit miffed seeing how few patrons were inside. As we walked away, the head server ran out and said if we wanted to eat right away, he could have us in and out in an hour as a large group reservation was expected. He seemed a bit bothered by the response we were given by the teenage hostess and looked like he was willing to make it up. We were seated right away and had one of the best dinners weve had in a long time. I had the Alaskan halibut with potatoes. If was perfectly cooked. Crispy char on the edges while juicy and flaky meat feel off on the slightest fork pressure. My wife had the pizza with shrimp and avocado. Extremely flavorful, the spicy sauce really made it a nice surprise. The cocktails were well made with artisanal ingredients. I had a Negroni to cool off. My dad would be proud of the bartender. Those were his ultimate favorite drink. And this one didnt disappoint.

Horrible. We were 15-16min late. My moms 81st birthday (shes blind, doesnt move at a speedy clip). We got behind a delivery truck on 92 coming from RWC, which contributed to our tardiness. We parked in front of San Benitos and walked Mom over. An older gentleman, I assume the host, told us the kitchen was already closed. Had we gotten there at 2pm, it most likely would have taken us 15-20min to go to the bathroom and wash our hands before we ordered anyway...just outrageous. Weve been coming to Pasta Moon since 1991, and this is not the way I want to be treated, nor the way I believe any business should treat their patrons. When we got back to the car, it was 2:20, so I know we were not more than 15 min. late. This is a sad reflection of the direction this establishment has decided to go in. There is no excuse, especially when you see people coming in with an elderly disabled person in tow (and we did tell them it was her birthday). So wrong, on so many levels. Well think twice before we make that trip over the hill again to go to a place that, apparently, doesnt really want you there. Way, WAY to rigid!

Pasta Moon is a rare find nestled in the heart of Half Moon Bay. Ive eaten dinner there twice and lunch once. Each meal was memorable. I am an excellent cook. Each meal represented culinary perfection. Ingredients were of the highest quality. During two dinners, I observed locals bringing in produce and exchange hugs with employees before being seated. Dinner and dessert recommendations were outstanding. The lasagna was made with layers of homemade pasta and sausage, and fresh tomato sauce. Their butternut squash ravioli was magnificent. The lemon parfait is to die for. Humble butterscotch pudding has been elevated to a velvety smooth masterpiece. The Service was impeccable. Conversations were never interrupted nor were we rushed so another customer could be seated. Ambiance is informal, quiet, and pleasant. This is a restaurant for business or pleasure that can be described with one word: perfection.

If eating the excellent food at Pasta Moon leave your BMW key out so you might receive actual service. I will preface by stating that I have 20 years restaurant experience. Waitstaff at a Zagat 3☆. Half Moon Bay was a spur decision today...so wife and daughter dressed for beach. Walking into pasta moon the Staff looked upon them like they should be serving them; never have they felt so low. Miguel (wife thinks), the busser, got a larger tip than the bitter blonde who is better than my family. Interaction w/other patrons prove this wasnt a "bad day" issue. Superiority over your customers is NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We are 40% minimum tippers. We love and understand food service. We now have moved on a different career path. Unnamed 50 y.o. blonde please do the same.

A good friend of mine told me about this restaurant, so the drive from Livermore better be worth it!... I know my Italian foods, and this isnt your traditional Italian plates and pasta. The pastas were very savory, the butternut raviolis was fabulous, and the wood-fired pizzas were an indulgence; I had sampled all of my buddys plates. Perfect place to take a date, or to have a good time with the fellas. The people here are very nice folks; great service and a friendly atmosphere just makes the meal twice as enjoyable. Come have a bite, and youll know what Im talking about, definitely worth the drive!

Came with my girlfriend for a Saturday lunch and the place was busy, but not packed. Even then, it took 10 minutes for someone to even get us some water... and another 10-15 minutes for a waiter to arrive (after we asked the wait staff assistant twice to please find us a waiter). I had the Tagliatelle bolognese which was entirely bland and without any flavor.... she had the lasagna which was at least good even though they went a little heavy with the nutmeg or something that gave it almost a sweet flavor. Two lunch plates and two glasses of wine with some really poor service = $60 and no tip

My friends and I ate lunch here on Saturday while touring up the coast from Santa Cruz. Frankly, I think it must be one of the best Italian restaurants in the San Francisco area! We noticed a Facebook promo sticker on the door and discovered that if we "liked" them wed get a free round of drinks -- a gift we partook of! My roasted beet salad was crisp enjoyable, and my butternut squash ravioli was excellent! I tasted my friends grilled steak and it was fantastically good, however! Tiramisu also topped off a wonderful meal. Id definitely go there again!

We came here for Saturday lunch.. We had a friendly waitress, but the bus staff was a different story. The bus staff ignored our table and when we finally got attention, and asked for more bread, we were told that there wasnt anymore bread. Strange response at an upscale restaurant. After we got our entrees, no one checked with us about our food, no one in sight for a little more water. We spent a good amount on our lunch there, and I would have expected better service at a better restaurant. Disappointing.

We were given a recommendation to come here by a local. We called ahead and reserved for dinner a few nights ago. Wow!!! What amazing food and service. We have not had this caliber of Italian food ever! It is a must! We shared the appetizer which had homemade cheese on top. Mom had the lasagna and I had buffalo dish (cant remember the name, it was a pasta). We also shared the hazel nut and chocolate cheesecake. Yum!!! Our waiter was wonderful and informative. We went all out and it was so worth it!
