Hubs and I were on our weekly mission to dine out in SF. We wanted something quick and affordable. We both had tacos. Based on reviews I had read I was gunning for 5 tacos. Thank goodness the fella setting up the tacos misheard me and gave me 4 tacos... or maybe he did hear me and thought I was over-ordering... at any rate 4 was more than enough for me and I am a good eater. I had: Pollo Asado Carne Asada (2) Al Pastor Hubs had: Pollo Asado Carne Asada Chorizo We both agreed hands down Pollo Asado was the best. I found this shocking, I dont usually order chicken at taquerias because I try to choose something I wouldnt make at home (we make a lot of chicken at home). Normally, Al Pastor or Carnitas are my go to. I wouldnt order the Carne Asada, Chorizo or the Al Pastor again. But I would definitely get Pollo Asado and try some other choices. Cantaloupe Aqua Fresca was amazing (we took 3 to go), Hibiscus Aqua Fresca was good but too sweet for me to order again. Its a cute (not cozy) interior with lots of murals to look at. Lots of tiled tables with benches. Next time, Im getting corn with mayo and queso and a bunch of tacos. Well be back.

I bought a couple of coupons from groupon and went straight to work. I bought the tacos and burritos so thats what Im gonna base my reviews on. Depending on certain days, the meat are really good and sometimes they can be really dry. I got a chicken burrito which was fairly good for its price which was $5.25 I think... The chicken and rice was moist and nothing taste out of the ordinary. The tacos were nice but I think theyre overrated compared to the other reviews. Its just your typical taco but they have a salsa bar with a lot of different stuff such as cilantro, different salsas, toppings and etc. What I recommend is the Lengua and Cabeza because theyre underrated meat. A lot of Americans never heard of these meat selections and will probably never try it because they dont want to leave their comfort zone but I love it. The meat texture is new and unique and that brings something different to the table besides the typical carne asada and pollo. I would recommend this place if youre looking for a quick cheap bite.

This place has always been great. You dont need to know Spanish to order, because the menus are in English and while the staff is fluent in Spanish, heres the thing- theyve been around so long because they also speak English. Id you need, you could learn "please": Por Favor, and "thank you": Gracias. Now you know enough to order. The food! Its always on point and is cali Mexican goodness. Tacos are great and fast, the salsa Verde is my jam and the heat in it can vary from medium to espicy. They have a stellar ceviche tostada, and super burritos(I like to ask for half the norm amt of rice) are some of the best in the bay. The pastor is flavorful, the asada is perfectly seasoned, and the staff are nice. Im bummed that since SFs great time of change , things are less spicy and you have to pay for chips, but this place is worth whatever they need to charge to stay up. And theyre open late! Often the only thing left open at night.

Probably the only food place open late on weekdays in the area. Very suitable for those late nights after coming home from a party, concert, etc. and you need a cheap little snack (or 2) to complete the evening. Ive only had the tacos here (not really a burrito person), and the quality of the meat has been consistently amazing. They are only $2.25, too. So many options to choose from - go for more of the fatty meats as they are usually most juicy. We love al pastor. Environment and ambience is that of a typical Mexican restaurant. If you are looking for a modern, spot clean taco place, this is not going to be it. But if you want a real Mexican environment, check this place out. There is tons of seating available and it never gets too crowded. That alone makes it better than La Taqueria (the overrated and crowded one!) Definitely recommended.

Taqueria Vallarta is my favorite place to go for tacos in SF. They have about 10 different types of meats so you can try all the weird ones. Hands down my favorite is al pastor. I can eat about 4 and they usually put a lot of meat on top with 2 tortillas per taco, so what I like to do is separate the tortillas and meat so that they are equally distributed. This gives me more room for salsa, fresh cilantro and onions. Really cant beat the price and convenience. Last year I think the 24th street location was closed for a few months because they found out widgeons were living in the ceiling. I was severely disappointed, since 24th street is closer to me than the 16th/mission location. One does not go to Taqueria Vallarta for cleanliness or ambience, you go there for great tacos! I love al pastor.

Taqueria Vallarta walls are filled with colorful murals to brighten the spot while the tv is turned on to a spanish channel. There are wooden tables and chairs that are good seating for 2 to 4 people. There is complimentary water provided even if you dont order drinks. First time I came here, I ordered the quesadilla. To my surprise, it is not just a thin crispy tortilla wrapped with goodies inside. This quesadilla I ordered looked like a burrito! Wow, the serving for this was gigantic when I was expecting to eat a light meal (that was gone right out of the window!). Totally delicious none the less. I want to try tacos next time I come here because I did see lots of people come in to order tacos. Cant wait to try it!

The burritos are a decent size and filled with succulent deliciousness. And guacamole is in the form of chunks of avocado rather than the slimy watered down stuff, which is definitely a good thing. Overall a good solid burrito. In the shady accounting side of things, I paid with a $20, the cashier hit the no sale button, gave me my change and the rest went in a pile of ones on the register, which she used to make change for the next three customers behind me. Five finger employee discount or giving the finger to uncle sam? The story tonight on 60 Minutes.

Yuck!!!!! VOMIT!!!!! Disgusting, do not go!!! They tried to sell us spoiled food, and would not refund us. I bought a taco from the taco bar, and you could smell the spoiled meat, that nasty sour smell. We also ordered Menudo, and first of all there wasnt any Homny, second the meat smelled bad, sour and gross. We didnt even touch our food and I asked for a refund. The store manager said "no" and I wasnt going to put up a fight, so we left. Never go here!!! San Fran you need some real Mexican food restaurants!! Take SAN diego Mexican restaurants for example.
