One of my friends brought me here for lunch on a weekday, and being that Im just an okay fan of Italian food, I was really skeptical about eating here. I drove to the restaurant and found metered parking on the street (1 quarter for 20 minutes with a max limit of 1 hour). As I walked in, the front desk guy greeted us warmly and took us to our table. As I sat down, i took notice of 2 things (like I always do): the decor/ambiance of the place and also the patrons/crowd. The decor was clean and simple and not overly extravagant...check. The restaurant was semi-full and consisted primarily of middle aged Caucasian people....check All signs pointed to good Italian food, so I proceeded to look through the menu and pick a dish..... And oh man, am I glad I picked the Rigatoni Rustica dish!! The ingredients were super fresh, and hands down, it was the best Italian dish that I have had in quite awhile!! The dish consisted of Rigatoni pasta served with ground sausage, bell pepper, green peas, and mushrooms in a tomato cream sauce. The ground sausage and the creamy sauce really set the dish off and I savored every bite of it!! (in Italian accent) Its ah me, Marioooooo!! and I give this place 4 stars!! Yes, lame, but thats the only Italian accent I could come up with after finishing my fantastic meal. I will definitely be visiting this place again soon!!

Wonderful authentic Italian-owned restaurant in cute Burlingame Ave. Warm, friendly old school attentive service. The Italian wait staff here attends to your every need. Ask your waiter to make menu and wine suggestions, their knowledge and tastes are impeccable. Sapores Italian Wine selection is amazing. Havent had a bad one yet. Sapore is very popular with the older San Mateo-Burlingame-South City crowd who bring their families. We come here for birthday celebrations. Their specialities include their Rigatoni Rustica (which our waiter changed it up the first time we dined here and replaced with the house made gnocchi. We have been ordering this way ever since), Margherita (thin crust pizza baked in a stone oven) Gamberoni al Limone (sauteed tiger prawns in a basil and garlic sauce), thick, juicy moist pan fried pork chop (Tony Soprano would be proud!), and, of course, tiramisu, which they will light a birthday candle if you tell them. Sapore has a dining room upstairs (the stairs to get up are steep!) that can fit up to 50 for a private party. Quality of food and service doesnt change upstairs if you go that route from my personal experience. Prices are reasonable for food quality and service. Metered street parking.

I had 31 guest showing up there at 10 am for a lunch meeting today. I have had this scheduled for more than a month in advanced. Even called them 2 days ago, and then again yesterday. My people show up early at 9:30 to set up all of their stuff and the restaurant is locked down tight. I call and call and no one answers. Finally the dishwasher lets them in. Nothing is set. So now my people have to set up their own tables and chairs and get it presentable for the meeting that starts in less than 15 minutes.

This is AUTHENTIC. The staff were amazingly fast, not always the most outwardly friendly but they are as Italian as it gets. The wine selection is fair but price is a little high for their nicer wines. My order was mistaken and they ended up comping a full dish of ravioli which shows how awesome the service is. The Burrata appetizer needs some arugala or tomato on it as it was unimpressive but not bad. The gnocci is a little too soft but the rest of their pasta is quite good and tastes handmade.

My husband and I ate at this restaurant for more than five years. A couple of months ago, I made a reservation for dinner. When we got there, a young hostess told us that we had to wait for 15 minutes, After more than 15 minutes, we complained to her we made a reservation, but she ignored us. We waited for more than 30 minutes, but still no response from her. She was very rude. We finally gave up and went to another restaurant. We loved this restaurant, but we will never go back there again.

I went there, based on the good reviews from other people. The homemade pasta had good bites, but they drawn past into too much sauce. And presentation is horrible just piling up pasta and sauce. Sauce is actually tasty and good. It is just that they pulled together all the great components in the wrong portions. Their bread was excellent. I think a bit less sauce and portion will make this place the top rating restaurant.

the best Italian food Ive ever had outside my own Italian side of the familys food. Staff and management, especially Elio are very engaging and attentive. Beautiful quaint atmosphere. Great place to have an intimate dinner with family friends and kids alike. I will be definitely coming back. Loved everything we tried!

Always love coming to this restaurant. The food is fantastic, however, when customizing your order (we asked for no mushrooms) they rarely get it right on the first go. But they are always willing to take it back and fix it with no complaints. We will keep coming back time and time again!

Great Food and Atmospher. We shared the lobster stuffed raviolis and mushroom pizza, both excellent. Also ordered the calamari appetizer. Was all tubes with a light batter. The three dishes was a ton of food and had to take most the pizza home as leftovers.

My wife and I dropped in for lunch one day while shopping in Burlingame and we were pleasantly surprised with the meal we had at Sapore Italiano. This restaurant is now on our list of faves in Burlingame and we will be going back again in the future.

Prices are Very high . Doesnt smell of good bread and good food. No music, or couldnt hear it. Very attractive decor. Hillsborough crowded. Ravioli are too thin. Carpacio also, tasteless. Service is spotty. Calabria, far Southern Italian restaurant.

I have had dinner at Sapore Italiano many times. I absolutely love the friendly and family atmosphere. You will receive a warm welcome at the door, and excellent service from the servers. I always feel welcome. My Capellini is so delicious.

Amazing all around. The food was outstanding. Walking into Sapore is like walking into Italy. The pasta melts in your mouth and the staff is welcoming as if you are being invited into their home. Going back..over and over again!

Made open table reservation that was not recognised because restaurant was overbooked. Standard dropped a lot, my Cesar salad portion sitting at the bar was a third of others. Had to keep asking for water refill etc.
