There was no option to give negative or 0 reviews otherwise i would have given that. It was our one the fav place as its a veg restaurant and some one like us being a vegetarian get lots of option here. But now their service and specially the food quality is deteriorated. Couple of months back we ordered few dishes as there were some guest at our place. We picked the food at around 9.45 Pm came back and noticed that out of chole bhature we had ordered, only bhature was there and no choley, Also, we ordered 2 thalis but the quantity which they served looked like as if it was just a single thali. Again last week we though of giving another try to Chat Bhawan and it was my birthday and my husband hosted a surprise party and invited few guest. We ordered of couple of dishes, so when we removed the foil lid from the tray the burning smell from the food started coming. First we thought something is burning in our kitchen but then later we figured out that it was the dal makhni which we got it from the Chat Bhawan. It was such a bad smell that we closed the lid and rapped it in polythene and kept it inside the freezer as a proof to return it back to them. It was so embarrassing for us in front of all guest but thankfully my husband had ordered lot of other things too. Next day we took that tray and returned it back to them, they asked if we would like another tray of dal makhni or get a refund. As party was already over and we two people cannot eat quarter tray alone so we asked for the refund. I though they would return they money to our credit card used, but no they are Super Smart. They gave us a Chat Bhawan gift Card which could only be used there.

By far the worst experience when it came to service in Bay area !! Their employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. From day one they lacked professionalism in taking my order. We chose onsite catering cause we thought that would be unique experience as its more common in India but not here in Bay area. We had poor experience for the huge amount we paid. 1) The cook was the most rude. They demanded that we will provide two cooks as one cook cannot handle alone. But every time I saw them, the other cook was either standing without working or eating !!! Yes I am serious. 2) They came at 11am and I had spoken to their coordinator that I need food setup from 11:30 am. They were so late that some of my guests left without eating food. They set up slowly at their own pace at 12:15 pm.. with just starters on the table !! 3) It was our sons second birthday so we wanted to off load lot of work and food was one of them. We trusted Chaat Bhavan to provide food, serving and delivery and they did not care and behaved as though they are doing favour on us. 4) please please read Yelp reviews before choosing them on your most important occasions. I did not. There are number of reviews on how poor they are on their service and also on rudeness!! 5) The cook in the end came and asked me for payment in front of my guests even when I paid the whole amount at the beginning !! So unprofessional ! I will never recommend Chaat Bhavan to anyone. We dont just expect good food , good service is most important part of food industry. Will not recommend Chaat Bhavan to anyone.

Chaat Bhavan has been crazy busy EVERY time ive been there. People line up outside the door to be seated at this frenzied restaurant. However, they seat you pretty promptly and hand you menus. Your waiter may change throughout the meal, but somehow, they always seem to stay in sync. After ordering, your items appear within 10 minutes, in no particular order. Your entrees may appear before your appetizers. And a few drinks come out at a time. The food ranges in variety from awesome to meh. Hits include: - Dahi Batata Sev Poori - Vada Pav - Chaat Basket - Mixed Veggie Korma - Chilli Pakora (yummy spice rub on top, yummy spiciness inside, and deep-fried to boot) Misses are: - Chaas (what is this watery yogurt thing anyway??) - Paneer Wrap (bland and oily) - Thali (half the curries tasted weird) - Bhel (very so-so compared to other places) The time for the server to bring you your bill and actually swipe the credit card takes up about half the meal. Whininess aside, I liked the food, and will be back to order from the hit list next time around!

I am chaat lover; so when I drove by this place a few weeks ago, I was really intrigued, and wanted to try it out. Well, today was that day. My parents and I ordered the Masala Puri, Sev Puri, and Saag Paneer- to go. What a complete disappointment! First, there was barely any difference between the Masala Puri and the Sev Puri(except for the fact that the Sev didnt have any diced cucumbers). The mint chutney that they gave us to drizzle over the chaat mixture was dry, poorly seasoned, and bland--so was the sweet-and-sour mixture. All they had done was cut up some onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and potatoes and thrown them together over a few puris. Trust me, it was NOT chaat. Suffice it to say that the Saag Paneer was also a complete disappointment. Aside from the fact that it was poorly seasoned, you could smell other greens in the dish. I wouldnt have been surprised if they had just used other cheaper greens and skipped out on the spinach altogether. Personally, I would never eat there again.

chaat bhavan has excellent food at a great price. i love their large menu and fast service and the staff, they are just amazing and very friendly. some people might think that the food is not good but from my experiences at eating at multiple restaurants i believe that chaat bhavan is one of the best. some orders that i found delicious are the bhel thali that includes 2 entrees, rice, dal, 2 rotis, papad, pickle, yogurt, a dessert, and a drink, this thali has eveverything. another dish i found delicious was their harah bara paratha which was stuffed with all sorts of veggies and is very healthy, and that is good for me because i never seem to like vegetables so this paratha is perfect for my taste. one other dish that also i love is the snack combo which comes with 2 chaats, a drink and papad, now that chaat combo is a very large portion so its great if your really hungry. these are just some of their great dishes that i have tried but i will be going back to try on some new ones.

Lame Service...we had to flag down a waiter everytime after our initial order. Even for the check. They took 20+ minutes for our food, which was fine but when we asked how long it would take if we ordered another round of parathaa, the waiter said he would go check in the kitchen and never came back. The only time they came back quickly was when we asked for the check. Food was alright, nothing extraordinary. Chili paneer had 1.5 peices of paneer in the thali and about 300 times more bellpeper than it should have had. Chana masala was along the lines of something I could make myself at home. The place is more like a mom and pop owned dhaba than any chat. Dont be fooled by the look. If you eat here plan on normal food and low service. Also I called them before going to ask if they had Wifi. They said yes. I went to eat and do my work, turn out wifi was secured and when I asked they said it was for owner use only. Pretty lame.
