I had this past weekend visitors from out of town. I hadnt been to this place in around two decades. The last time I was there, it was a mexican food restaurant where they had great service, great margaritas... Thats why we drove from Burbank to this place. To our surprise, it is Lakeside Cafe. Not knowing what kind of place this is, we decided to give it a try. There was no one to greet us so we chose a table....after some considerable waiting, we spoke to a server. She said, "go check in at the front with the host".....I left my guests at the table. I waited at the hosts desk for a while and spoke to 4other servers.....they all had the same answers keep waiting....no one offer to assist.... I grabbed some menus brought them to our table.....no service at all...... I am so sorry I gave you a star in my review..... Didnt earn not even 1/4 of it...... Might consider writing a note and apply self service...you might make a better business out of it.....

On the South edge of the San Fernando Valley you can enjoy a good meal, sitting along side an ancient waterhole, in a beautiful little park. Seating is available outside, under the trees, and inside, looking out at the tiny "lake" that has kept life flourishing for eons. If the weather is agreeable, sit outside, as ducks, geese and squirrels may visit. A small museum is steps away. The parking lot is located along the side of the restaurant, kind of hidden. A well stocked bar is provided. Some vegan menu items. Wheelchair accessible inside. Outside, the park seting has been left natural and may give some difficulty. Nighttime lighting is romantic. Bathrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Yes, 6th May, 2017, we made a reservation for 12:45pm for 5 people. When we got there, a young lady said she could not find my reservation. I told her that I could show her my email confirmation. She brushed me off and said, we dont have a table for now anyway. When asked how long we have to wait, she rudely said 30 minutes ( reminder: we had a reservation and came on time ) we decided to leave. No apology, no smile, no trying to help us. Management: one cannot run a restaurant business like that. I hope that you will have a better reservation system.

OUTSTANDING! Both, the food and the service provided by Marc. This is our (my wifes and mine) new favorite spot. Beautiful surroundings (who knew there was a spring in the middle of Encino) and delicious food. Excellent place for Happy Hour. We filled up on appetizers. You only get two per order, but it gives you a chance to try a few of them. We had 4. We also had the beet salad which was delicious and pretty healthy. Cant wait to go back.

Came here the other day with my wife. Food is ok not the best especially for the price expected more. Thats why the 2 stars for the food, service is pretty bad. When we ordered our food took about 50 mins or so to get it and to top it off it was below room temp. Tipped the waiter cause life is hard but I honestly did not want to leave a tip. The veiw is also a plus next to the lake but wont be dinning here again.

Pretty good place. Wife ordered the huevos rancheros and they were ok. Sauce was good but the whole thing was sorta a soggy mess. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and it too was ok. Better described as a slab of sausage over two thin dry biscuits. Flavor was good and everything was cooked well, but it wasnt really what you expect when you order. Service was pleasant.

I came here 3 years ago for brunch while running errands in the valley. I would have never expected it to be what is was when I walked in the door. You walk into a beautiful indoor/outdoor restaurant right on the lake which is in the park. The scenery is beautiful, the food is really good and the service is great. This is a must if you find yourself in the area!

Nice location (the patio is on the lake and the choice seating). Wonderful menue. Lots of selections. Itll take a while to try all that look interesting. I had the Oso Buco and it was excellent. Wife had Sea Bass. Also excellent. Server was Jason and he took good care of us. All in all, a perfect evening.

Great food and ambiance. If you sit outside there is a cute view of the park and Lake Encinos. From the outside, it looks like an other restaurant on Ventura Boulevard and you cant grasp how beautiful it is from the inside. Somehow they make ordinary scrambled eggs and pancakes extraordinary.

Food was adequate but not exceptional as well as the service and probably wont go back. I felt the prices were out of line with good and service. Former site of an El Torito. If you eat outside expect to be eating among feral pigeons and squirrel, under the trees on a dirt surface.

I wasnt really impressed with the meal and the waiter was kind of snobby. We went for dinner but I really think this is more of a brunch or lunch place. I like that its located on the lake so there are some very good views but the food was really not that great.

Stopped for lunch by chance and loved the experience. Wait staff was fantastic, providing food for my daughter to give the ducks, geese, etc. Additiinally our food was amazing and we even ordered more to take home with us. Highly recommended!

What a fabulous find! The food and service are top rate and the ambience is just rustically pretty. Welcome Lakeside...we hope you are here for years to come. The servers are young and easy on the eyes and eager to please. Fantastic!

The service was terrible. The host sat us and the waiters totally ignored us. We had to go find someone to wait on us. The food was delicious and the kitchen staff was friendly. We will not return. We were treated as an afterthought.

Amazing experience and beautiful place! They actually dont have any vegan menu items but to my surprise the manager and chef came out with a homemade vegan veggie burger that was DELICIOUS! Great service too....will be back!

I love this place! Ive been here before but today was the first time I tried the heuvos rancheros. Yum! Sauce was just spicy enough, eggs cooked perfectly. Hint to chef: how about some guacamole and chips?

Great place for kids, when sitting outside. Lots of birds to see, since there is a small man made Lake for the wildlife to fly in and out. Food is delicious. Service is fair.

The charcuterie plate was beyond our expectations.. ample amount of cheese and meats. Pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed our food and 2 bottles of wine and our appetizers for dinner.
