Doctor! The patients vitals are dropping! Whatll we do?!? Dammit, Jim! Give the patient 300 ccs of gelato! Its Vitaly important! ;p BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Got the invite for a meetup with some friends at Vitaly, located at the hipster haven, The Camp, in Costa Mesa. Vitaly serves various gelato, coffee drinks & savory dishes. I had ramen earlier, so I was looking to satisfy my sweet tooth upon arrival. Customers are allowed to sample any & every of the gelato flavors. I tasted the marscapone fig, tiramisu & chocolate hazelnut, among others. I finally settled upon the honey lavender- This gelato was unusual, in the sense that it wasnt as dense as most gelato Ive had previously. The scoop was more soft & creamy, akin to ice cream. I did, however, enjoy the hypnotic flavor. The sweetness of honey, paired with the floral notes of relaxing lavender. Like a day at the spa, having a mani/pedi ;p The wafer was rather bland, not sweet. For marketing purposes with the company logo, it works. Taste-wise, I wouldve preferred perhaps a shortbread or sugar cookie. I guess its Vitalys way of giving communion to the masses ;p Originally, I was thinking of going with the flight of 5 gelato/$5. Seemed like good bang for the buck, with an array of flavors to try. But, seeing how abysmally minute the 5 gelato flight was, Id say just sample your way toward deciding on the flavor scoop that you want, instead. Rohlin & Laina were gracious enough to order a serving of crescentine bread (fried bread) to share. These were puffy, airy pillows of carb-filled heaven. Dipped into olive oil & balsalmic vinegar, I had a few of these before I managed to control myself. No bread, you dummy! Bad Rodney! Service was good, as the staff were pleasant giving us samples and anything we needed, like cups for water and plates. A few tables, chairs and a lounge area are available inside, with a covered patio for al fresco dining. We initially were sitting in the lounge area, but because the AC wasnt cooling us off, we decided to sit outside. Turned out to be a perfect decision because the nice SoCal breeze kept us comfortably cool. Parking is valet & self parking at The Camp. We had a great time, eating good gelato & hanging out with even better company Purely from my experience with the gelato, I enjoyed Vitaly & their battery of gelato flavors. With a smooth & creamy texture, its a great way to cool off as the summer comes to a close. 3.5 stars Recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

so many gelato flavors, so little time & ohmahgaww i no longer have to travel to sf to get my honey lavender fix! finally got to visit vitaly and let me count why this is my new fave hangout spot: 1) delizioso gelato: my fave flavors are 1) honey lavender 2) hazelnut 3) hazelnut chocolate. i was able to get the "gelato flight" with 5 mini gelato shots. i couldnt quite figure out which flavors to get, perfect for my indecisive self. 2) outdoor patio: lots of patio tables and bench seating, great for warm sunny afternoons. there are communal type tables inside as well. 3) service: i believe the couple that owns vitaly is very active in managing the store, their presence and socialization with customers really does bring a nice touch to the personal experience. 4) coffee & tea & vino: plenty of beverage options to sip & chat over. this is as close to bi-rite as i can get in southern california, and its a short drive from home. now i know where i can go to bathe myself in honey lavender :)

I went there tonight to meet my brother and a buddy of mine around 10:27 pm, I understand they close at 10:30 pm, nonetheless all I wanted was a cup of coffee or tea. I ashed a young lady if I can have some service and she said they were closed. I went to another lady and asked for help and she said again that they close at 10:30 pm and a gentleman was standing next to her confirmed that they were closed, thus I turned my phone on and showed them the time that was not 10:30 pm yet and by law I have every right to get some service, they apologized and asked what can we do for you? I just said a cup of coffee please, they said they did not have any coffee. So does Vitaly close at 10:27 pm or 10:30 pm? Thank you

After eating Piadinas in Turin last Summer I came back to CA. looking for a place that would offer this delicious food. Well, Last September I was introduced to Vitaly one evening and I couldnt believe what I saw i their menu. I ordered the Rimmi Piadina for dinner that evening and loved it. I loved the food and service and ambience at Vitaly and it has become a place I always want to go back to.

This place is fantastic! They have such a great variety of foods and drinks. Their food is generally pretty light (even the pastas). The staff is really friendly, too! The atmosphere is really relaxed and chill. I will absolutely keep it in mind for a cute, casual place to grab a great bite to eat.

Vitaly is a favorite of ours and always delivers. From the excellent hand made pastas to the tasty and unique Piadina. And dont forget to save room for the gelato made right there. Fresh food, great atmosphere, and consistent quality has us coming back time and time again.

Im a huge fan of dark chocolate and they knocked that flavor out of the park! I probably would have been good with one scoop, but I knew it would pair well with the espresso flavored gelato, which it did... Great desert place to follow Taco Asylum right next v door!

My review is strictly off of the gelato and the dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen. This place is amazing. If you want gelato, go here, if you have never had gelato, you need this place in your life. And the seating area and atmosphere are very nice. Keep it up!

Nice and cozy place for late night gelato and coffee. Casual and parking lot is always packed. Plenty of restaurants in the plaza to try and a bar next to this place. Lets see how many rounds you can handle.

Just like eating in Italy! Also it is a family owned business I spoke with the husband and wife owners and they source everything from legit Italian sources and have real italians working there.
