Perspective. So many years ago I lifted Mendocino Farms to the highest pedestal of sandwichdom that its hard to see and even tell others of its fall from grace. The simplest way I can put it is to reread your favorite book time and time again at different times in your life to see how you relate to things. The book did not change, but your did. All the wonders of the Marina Del Rey location stood tall for a long time. I actually didnt even realize there were a half dozen others throughout LA. I fawnd over this and had high expectations. Years later when they venture out of LA and into OC I took my place at the front of the lines and waited patiently for my fix. The past 4 visits have proved that for me, that level of sandwich love is just a memory. Perhaps its my own foodie maturation, but I found the kurobuta bahn mi to be dry, overly sweet, the slaw didnt compliment as it once did, the bread, ciabatta didnt work the way it once did for me. I became traditional on my sandwiches. The sizes have stayed the same, the quality of the food, cooking remained high along with a chic unique décor, love the writing and designs on the wall, but to me its doesnt seem as centric a theme. Love the organic and small farm sourced meats, produce. The set up here is a little confusing, but the parking is just as bad as MDR as are the prices. What Mendocino farms doesnt really account for is that many of restaurants here in OC, but mores o in SD source locally, organically which to me are better than using heirloom breeds and farming co-ops. Pesto basil pasta salad was ok, definitely needed more garlic. Probably should have made that one a caprese version. I was not a fan of the honey ham in the summer cubano, that and the plantains natural sweetness and the mendo mustard had way too many sweet ingredients to counter with the mojo and dill. I loved the aged white cheddar in the country club, they should definitely use that in a mac & cheese, its actually one of my secret ingredients in mine, but the bread was too rustic and the red onions were overpowering. Why does everyone think that red onions compliment every sandwich or salad or anything with lettuce or tomatoes. Come on people. Love the option to get smashed avo. I dig the shaved chicken items, but found them dry, not fully brought back to life with the aioli, pesto and other sauces. My favorite sandwich is the Italian love, the fennel salami is excellent along with the spicy giardiniera, ditch the herb aioli, go with their medno mustard with avo on top, not inside. Basil pesto vinaigrette is not as sophisticated as it sounds, but the mustard dressing on the steak cobb was excellent. That was a very round flavor set, easily the most whole. The lemonade is too sweet. Parking sucks because they basically share with Starbucks which is equally as busy at times. They certainly are no longer at 5 star in my mind and Ill give them the benefit of the doubt since they are still newish but they are probably in all reality closer to the 3 stars than 4. The game has changed and so many places have surpassed.

High-quality food thats fresh and healthier than most restaurants. Their not-so-fried chicken sandwich is amazing! I recommend getting both sauces that they offer on the side (warm bbq sauce, and Im not sure what the other is but theyll know). Their take on a caesar salad is original and innovative. Instead of croutons they have a baked quinoa mix which is very crunchy and can be a bit overwhelming if you dont have strong teeth. Id recommend either getting the salad without the quinoa crunch or asking for it on the side. You order at the door, try as many sides and wines/beers as youd like, pay at the counter, and they bring your food to the table. There selection of beer and wine is minimal but really good with affordable pricing.

My friends kept praising this little sandwich place so I tried it out, having two. Both the chicken and the Peruvian steak. First of all, I didnt think the food would exceed the delightful decor. Not only was it a pleasure, with an enjoyable atmosphere, but the sandwiches were delicious, and not dainty little teases like all the other sandwich haunts nearby. Ill be dining here regularly so long as the service is fast, the quality is fresh, and the employees are all smiles. Im hoping that Oaxaca cheese is legit...it was so good! Excellent experience here!

I had the crab cake succotash and german butter cake with both Tahitian vanilla and burnt caramel ice creams to try. The crabcakes were not bad and the German butter cake was absolute heaven. You dont get a very large piece for the price so savor every decadent and delicious bite. It is moist and buttery with crunchy bits of sugar by itself. It also comes with a couple sauces and the the ice cream is additional.

A BLT is an elegant sandwich, but it is not here. unecessarily tall, the bacon is flavorless, despite it being glazed. It only serves to harden the bacon to the point of being near hard as diamond, and biting into the sandwich is a chore. overall, less is more with a BLT, and twice have i had these packed but lacking sandwiches. Highly suggest improvements on these, as it gets no approval from me.

I love this place. The sandwiches are delicious, interesting, and HUGE. They even have specialty sodas from the gun that are really tasty. Super friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I love/hate this place because I always end up over-eating every time I come here. Oh well, its worth it!!

Good sandwiches and salads. A little twist on the usual chick, turkey, ham, roast beef sandwiches. All very good and unique. They offer side dishes that are not your run of the mill fries and onion rings but healthy sides. Highly recommended you try it out.

The spicy lemongrass steak banh mi here is totally delicious. The parking situation in the lot is a little silly with complimentary valet, but if your timing is good, you can find a spot. Delicious food, pretty low-key atmosphere. Worth a visit.

This is my go to spot to get vegan and vegetarian sandwiches, but you wont feel left out if you have friends who eat meat. They are very good about subbing items in or out of the sandwiches. Their maple bacon tempeh is great.

The sandwiches and salads here are good. This location is in the middle of construction, and it can be hard to park. I have a hard time finding food for my kids to eat here, because they dont really eat sandwiches.
