Went to this location expecting the same quality as the Walnut Creek location, big mistake!! The service was great except I felt the manager should have stepped in given my food was cooked very incorrectly, also because its a brand new location. Wait time to be served once we were seated was over 40 minutes. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and I have never tasted so much oil in my life. Chicken Fried Steak is something that I order very regularly for breakfast at various restaurants, Mels diner being one of my favorites. Very disappointed to say the least! Our server was overly apologetic but, not in a good way. If she felt that bad she should have had the manager comp my meal at minimum. I feel scarred... Everytime I order Chicken Fried Steak I will be reminded of the amount of oil i had in my mouth. Here are the pictures to prove it.... I bet I could have drained double the amount of napkins if I kept at it.

It was exactly what I thought! The service was great actually. I have worked in fine dining restaurants, dive bars, and excellent small business restaurants....Its Mels! People act like theyre going here to get a fine dining experience...youre wrong- thats not Mels! I enjoyed my meal, iceberg lettuce and all! Dont come in here looking for tablecloths and fine wines, come in here for milkshakes, French toast, and club sandwiches, quick service, 50s music, and youll be happy! People can take their 1 and 2 star reviews and....

Went Friday 0/16/16-WORST meal and service Ive had in a long time. Mac & cheese was overcooked and old. French Fries were cold and soggy. The turkey dinner was supposed to have dressing but came as an open face sandwich. The Philly Cheesesteak roll was hard as a rock. Getting the meal out took 45 minutes. We were offered clam chowder to make up for it, which was barely warm and the potatoes were raw. Strawberry milkshake was the only redeeming item.

The service is amazing. That is why they get the 3 stars. I wanted so bad to love this place! I really really wanted to. I love pancakes so much, but the cakes there along with the French toast. Well they dont really taste like pancakes. They taste like bacon cakes or French sausage toast. Idk if they need to clean the grill better before they make pancakes or what. But it was sad. I could not complain because the waitress was so sweet.

I do love mels diner been going long time disappointed it wasnt crowded at all maybe 5 customers but waitress got order wrong ordered chicken fried steak mels country potatoes rye toast over easy eggs coffee water. I got hashbrowns she forgot and asked what kind of toast and never brought water. I heard her telling co workers its a monday. I do like mels just disappointed in the service today .

Calling to place a to-go order is never an option. The phone just rings and rings. Or worse yet, they answer and put you on hold for ten to fifteen minutes. I called today and got no answer. Drove down to the location and there were maybe three tables of people. Very slow. There should be no reason for the lack of service.

Salad of mostly limp or slimy lettuce; tasteless 1000 Island. Grilled sandwich OK, but did not expect mayo. Fries were hot, but limp. No hint that they ever had a crispy exterior. Was there at 10:45: 15 min. prior to lunch special. Refused lunch special even though the special included items that I ultimately ordered.

Best all-around coffee shop type restaurant within miles of this location. This Mels is better and larger than the downtown Walnut Creek location. It is clean, bright, friendly, and has excellent food and value. This restaurant opened in late 2016.

Great experience at the diner! Very friendly staff and food was delicious! Got the vegetarian omelette and it was amazing...turkey sausage is dry so I wouldnt recommend that but overall extremely satisfied
