The Original Pancake house has very good food and is also a very popular place for breakfast. In this area of the East bay there is really no other place to eat like this. The food is great, the owner has been nothing but hospitable when we have been there. They have been busy but we have never had to wait to be seated. The service may be a little slow but its because they are BUSY! You will never go without a full cup of coffee as 3 or 4 people stop at your table to make sure you are filled up. The bacon is great, its done perfectly, not rubbery or underdone like some places. The pancakes are awesome, light and tasty. The portions are huge. The has browns are excellent, not greasy. I cant recommend this place enough in fact we are going there for breakfast this morning.

I have been here at least half a dozen times and I always hesitated to write a review. The food here is good. There, I said it. You cannot knock the quality of the food. That does not make up for the horribly slow service and outrageous prices. Some of the meals you get a lot of food, but at least half the menu is overpriced. A side of 4 bacon strips is $8. And with the sausage. Most crepes are $13 and you only get one filled crepe! The owner is a penny pincher and never hires enough wait staff. There are always too many water boys sitting around near the coffee pots, and too few waiters taking orders. I keep coming back because the food is good and hoping that my previous experiences were a fluke, but life is too short.

I didnt even order anything in the restaurant and I felt so mad after I left. This is my experience: We had about 8 people with us. We got seated and didnt get our drink orders for aobut 10 minutes. We recieved our drinks from the busser. Another 10 minutes went by and we finally got our waiter to come and greet us and all she said was, "Hey girls, what do you want?" She went around the table to take the orders and didnt even come back until she had our orders. She messed up a bunch of times with pricing us and expected us to pay her a tip. We left the $5 that was left on the table from the last people sitting at the table and left the money we thought we should have paid her.

I had breakfast on a Sunday morning. Ok food. My bill came out to be $11.30. Went to the counter to pay, and I was told they dont accept card unless the amount is atleast $15. I didnt have cash, so I told them to just charge extra for the amount they would pay for using the credit card. The charged me $2.50 extra for the credit card transaction! During this time, the manager came in. He was just very rude about the whole proceeding. Made me feel like I was steeling something from him by asking to use my credit card. Its a shame, because the place has nice atmosphere, but the management is very rude. I will not be going there again.

mediocre and EXTREMELY overpriced food. (i.e. $8.25 for a 4 piece side of bacon that had obviously been previously cooked and reheated) they were understaffed which led to very lackluster service. the worst part was the bathrooms. I went to wash my sticky syrup hands after my meal and literally gagged from the horrible stink. will definitely try a different restaurant next time and cant imagine a single conceivable situation that would have us return to Original Pancake House.

Waiter asked if we wanted coffee, I said no the my boyfriend said what he wanted and the waiter walked away before I could tell him what I wanted. A small glass of orange juice was $3 and it was about 8 ounces. The corned beef and hash was $17 and the corned beef was cheap lunch meat. My boyfriend got to the bottom of his meal and found a hair. Bad service and over priced, cheap food.

The food and service was excellent no complaints. I now know why no one has ever ever recommended this place. There is no reason I should be paying 9 dollars for 3 rather small pancakes. There should also be no reason a breakfast meal should cost over 50 dollars for 2 people. An omelette should not cost 17 dollars, 2 extra strips of bacon should not cost 5 dollars.........

upon seeing the high prices, i scanned the menu for the cheapest item which was a half order of french toast for six dollars. usually when i get breakfast at a restaurant, a half order is more than enough for me. when the waitress brought my plate, i had to laugh. there was one piece of french toast on my plate. ONE! i paid six dollars for a piece of toast. ridiculous.

STAY AWAY!!! Wow. Disappointment is a huge understatement. I was very excited to come here, because I love the franchise, my folks go to one in Texas all the time and the one in Washington I frequented is excellent. But it is waaaaay overpriced, not clean, food is far below average in quality, and the servers look like they hate life :( Never going back again.

dirty window sills. While I waited for the waitress to come (15min) another table got order messed up 2x. Then when I went to order she didnt k is what they had. No cereal , no way to get just an omelette and not other food, and no juice. After 20 min of back and forth I walked out with my 2 toddlers and just told her to cancel order...

We moved from an area where The Pancake House was one of the best breakfasts in town (large metro area), so I think my expectations were skewed. This isnt that. Its a diner, basically. If you come with that expectation, I think youll be pleased. Friendly, willing to chat, and a general diner vibe.

Extremely pricey food. Usually breakfast foods such as Waffles come with a combo of eggs and meat but here they offer just the waffle by itself for the price of a combo meal. Foods not bad but the service was rude and I felt no need to come back after paying over $11 for a mediocre waffle.

I was craving a waffle for breakfast so my bf and I tried the original Waffle House. The menu was over priced, $18 for a strawberry waffle. I asked the waitress if it came with any sides? No, it didnt... $18 for a waffle!? $4.51 for a regular sausage patty? Never going there again.

The service is good and the food is OK. I think the owners need to take a trip up to the original Original Pancake House in Portland, OR and rediscover what the OPH is supposed to be all about... I would go back if I was in the area but, I would not make a special trip...

One of our favorite places to get breakfast. They have excellent pancakes and crepes, and especially for the former, a variety you wont find elsewhere. They can get really busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so we like to go very early or a little later in the day.

Stopped by here in between appointments at the Fremont Kaiser. The servings were pretty large and the waitress was great in suggesting a slightly different way to get what we were looking for (eggs and pancakes) that didnt require ordering as much as wed thought.
