I love this restaurant. The food is absolutely excellent. After eating sushi here for a around a year I went back one evening to another local sushi restaurant that I used to like a lot and did not enjoy their sushi at all since I have been spoiled now on very fresh fish at Miyako. There was a noticeable difference in freshness. I had heard this about Miyako from others but now I know it from experience. Plus the owners and waiters are all very friendly and knowledgable. By far my favorite sushi restaurant in Santa Cruz.

I had dinner at Miyako last night. It was so wonderful. I ordered beef teriyaki and shrimp-vegetable tempura. It was scrumptious. The servings were generous and the food so tasty. A number of people at other tables were eating sushi, so I presume their raw fish was to their liking also. :) After clearing the dishes away, they brought out an orange sliced thinly and sitting in its peel - very refreshing and it cleared the palette. A teeny butterfly cut from a daikon radish sat among the orange peel - how clever is that?

We finally found a sushi restaurant that is comparable to our favorite sushi restaurant in Waikiki. We use to fly to Waikiki to get fresh sushi, but now we can just drive to Capitola and get the the best sushi in SC County. Dont miss out! They get their fish deliveries on Tues and Thursdays. You wont even consider another place after youve tried it there. By the way the owner, Suki, will even watch your kids for you while you enjoy your meal. This is truly a gem restaurant hidden next to McDonalds on 41st Ave.

My grandmother started a chain of sushi restaurants in the San Jose area, and now I live in the Santa Cruz area. This place has the best cuts of fish and good food all around. I have not found another place that matches Miyako for the price. They are also very friendly and provide great great service every time my wife and I eat here. It is our favorite. Check it out.

Been going here for the lunch special for like 20 years now. All you can eat sushi rolls (only rolls), teriyaki chicken gyoza (potstickers . . kinda), tempura veggies, rice noodles with beef, tofu with sweet sauce, cucumber and carrots with sweet vinegar, bean sprouts, other stuff . . . all for $10.99. Not bad. Served buffet style.

I have finally found the best Japanese restaurant in Santa cruz. Very fresh sashimi and authentic Japanese sushi. My husband loves their salmon skin hand roll. He said its very flavorful with crispy salmon and large portion. They also have toro sashimi, too.

Excellent lunch buffet, and pretty good ala carte sushi. Only wish they ditched the TVs - one has Finding Nemo on continuous loop, another has sumo wrestling, and a third has some nature scenes going. A big distraction when going there with kids.
