Who would think Boulder Creek of all places would have amazing Chinese food? After living near San Francisco for several years, Ive turned into a snob and my standards for Chinese and other forms of ethnic food have become pretty high. I moved to Santa Cruz county a few months ago and so far most of the asian food has been a sheer disappointment to me. However, the Red Pearl has my approval! Large portions, pretty cheap, extensive menu, great food, and vegetarian-friendly. I havent eaten meat in 13 years, and I have the say, the vegi-chicken with mushrooms especially is so convincing that it makes me nervous to eat it. I dont think Ive ever had scarier mock meat! I mean that in a good way - it means they did it right. The only way I know its fake is because my husband says so (although he agrees they did a really good job), and because my body that has become ultra-sensitive to meat products is able to digest it. It is the realist chicken Ive had in 13 years. Good job, Red Pearl! Also, I love their rad SLV dragon who protects the restaurant.

In 63 years I have never had a worst experience in a restaurant.... pathetic, stood 3 deep in line for literally 20 min. Ordered our regular food, waited 40 min for our dinner, that was served one side dish at a time ,15 min between dishes, never got all of our order, followed by an argument over our order. My girlfriend speaks a little chinese and was appualed by the incessent cussing AGAIN SHAME ON YOU RED PEARL, MY GIRLFRIEND IS IN STAGE 4 CANCER, AND WAS VERY BUMMED OUT.

Ordered the seschuan chicken. Mostly vegetables, with a few pieces of chicken. The sauce was very sweet, with overtones of ketchup. Didnt taste anything like what Ive ordered from other Chinese restaurants. The pork dumplings had very thick dough, and almost seemed like they were deep fried. The hot and sour soup was pretty good, maybe a bit sour.

Super friendly and generous. Free tea while you wait if doing pickup. Some flavor profiles are not much like described (lamb in garlic sauce), but others are spot on and high quality. Pot stickers are deep fried unless you ask for other preparation.

Great service. Pretty tasty food especialy for the price. General tso chicken could have been hotter, request hot as possible and I would call it a mild. But still good. Try the Jasmine tea, amazing. Thank you Jenny for the great customer service!

Much better than you would expect for Chinese in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I recommend the Kung Pao tofu (Best I have ever had) General Tao vegi-chicken, Eggplant with garlic sauce, Mongolian Tofu, Mapo tofu and Vegi-chicken with curry sauce.

Soooo delicious. And they can make absolutely everything gluten free on request. Chicken with snow peas is amazing. Soup is amazing. Dont mind quirky picnic vibe; using huge bowls and paper plates. Very sweet people.
