I dont have a complaint about the food. It was fine, even though the potato pakora was no different than french fries and therefore probably frozen instead of fresh. I went for lunch buffet and asked if they also had menu service so I could order some to go as well. Menu didnt come. I asked again. Menu came, but server didnt return to take an order. After finishing a plate and a half of food, it is now inconvenient to wait for a to go order. So I changed my mind about ordering to go. (good thing because no one came to take that order anyway) Check never came. Had to go up to counter without a bill. I asked for a container for the complimentary naan but was refused. She said that people have taken advantage of them and they didnt offer take home box. I did NOT have any food from the buffet left to take home, only what was left of the generous portion of naan (WAY too much for one person to eat). They threw away three nice pieces of spinach naan because of a few jerks that load up on take home buffet? That is a bad decision in my opinion. Based on the poor service and bad attitude, I will not return there. When in B-Field, Ill go to Taj Majal where the service has always been nice and food is better quality. I should have asked for foil to take the naan home in, but I suppose I was taken aback by her reply. The server should have brought a piece of foil when I asked for a container for the naan and in retrospect, I should have thought to ask for foil. I did make it clear that all I wanted to take with me was the naan.

My visit at Zaika was very unpleasant with the service department and the cook. I ordered chilli naans with my shahi paneer and when the waiter brought the food he dropped my naans on the floor. I told him that they dont have to make new naans because i had changed my mind. He said okay and left, after like 1 minute he came to my table with chilli naans and said these are complimentary naans. Now heres the question, how would one bake something in one minute that takes at least 10 minutes to bake. (I did not touch the naans at all). Then I ordered papdi chaat, from the look of it it didnt look too inviting, but I thought it will taste good. One bite of that chaat ruined my whole appetizer and made me a little sick. I told them to get my check, paid for the food and told them I am never coming back. I am really disappointed with the chef who prepared the stale chaat, and with the service that was provided because I dont want trust that the "complimentary naans" were fresh out of the tandoor because they take atleast 9 to 10 mins to be bake And the waiter brought those naans to me in less than a minute.

My friend and I just had lunch today at Zaika Indian Cuisine. From the moment we got there until we left we both enjoyed ourselves. We were greeted nicely and we both had the buffet. Everything was delicious. Their ice tea was so refreshing, wasnt like just the normal black tea. I think maybe a hint of ginger or something, but it was very good. And the service we got was great. Always had someone checking to see if we needed anything. Kept my ice tea full. Which is a plus for me. The food & service was diffently a 5 star rating for me. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Zaika Indian Cuisine for a very delicious lunch and your awesome service. Very sweet and kind people. Very pleased with our visit.

Last time I came here the buffet food was good but like always I got full really quick like there was MSG on the food. Also one of the busboys that worked thereally came into the establishment yelling an arguing with the manager claiming that he hadnt paid him in 5 weeks!!!! The manager ushered him into the bar area where there was fewer customers an got out his bookkeeping records and checkbook to pay the poor guy and immediately afterwards fired him as if he had did something wrong...... THE MANAGER WITH THE JACKED UP SKIN FADE IS A HORRIBLE EMPLOYER AND FOR THAT REASON ALONE I WILL NOT GO BACK

Very disappointed in my favorite place to eat. Sunday dinner buffet is a bust. Dont waste your time or money. There were no meat dishes & at. Not one. & I was really in the mood for butter chicken. No salad bar. None of the sauce s they always have out. Naan not included in buffet. Sunday dinner buffet. Rice. Bread & potato. $17. So sad. I love their lunch buffet & menu. But I dont see this as lasting very long... Zaika sorry. If I ever go back after this. It will only be at lunch time.

When finish my first bear i demand 2nd bear again still i was wating for chicken with bear... Omg so late. I call serviceboy he say they forgot order of chicken. 1 mistake. After this we order food with green salad. When we were near finish our dinner they provide salad. They think people eat salad after finising food so funny......as like my chicken order can eat after 2 bear....

It was not at all up-to my expectations. We went there at 2:40pm and the buffet stops at 3pm still the pots were left only with small amount of curry with no stuff and they did not care to pour it for us. Attendant/waitress was not at all concerned to us. She came once and got to the kitchen for getting naan and didnt come back to ask for anything else. It was a bad experience to visit there and would never recommend anyone to visit and eat food there.

i heard a very good name about this restaurant but my recent experience was very unpleasant. i went to zaika for south indian food and ordered dosa and uttapam with a request to put the mild spice and chili but the food served was too spice and hot. we barely ate and complaint but there was noone to listen to the complaint. it was very frustating and i simply paid the bill and left. there are other better restaurant in bakersfield i would go to.

Much better quality than "Taj Mahal" Still not as good as the food by "Shan" in Downey-but for a local restaurant, I was pleased. And I am picky about my Indian, Pakistani, Afghani and Persian food, so by my standard if food was "very good" by the average Bakersfield citizen who does not travel nationally and internationally-it would be safe to assume that they may leave the place saying it was excellent.

One of the best Indian food restaurants in Bakersfield, Zaika continually impresses with its consistent quality and great value lunch buffet. The lunch buffet does have a rotating selection and tends to be very busy on Fridays. Refilling the drinks tends to be spotty, but the service has been improving over the past year. Saag panner and butter chicken are two of my favorite dishes.
