Most likely the restaurant is owned by family members and the employees are all family members, which is why the service was bad. There were two waiters that were waiting on us, which was why they each came over and asked us if our orders were taken and how was everything. It was really annoying to have someone come over half a dozen times. One waiter was in particular rude because he acted impatient about us leaving, even though there was plenty of seating available. We were only there for about an hour. It was very awkward to be pushed out like that. The food was horrible!! It tasted like they have us the left overs they were going to give their dog, but then we arrived and so they handed it to us. The rice was dry and cold. The garlic Naan bread probably tasted good when it was fresh, but was soggy and cold. The lamb bhuna I had was cold and the meat tasted bland, like cat food. My friend didnt like the chicken dish she had or the rice. I had Indian Masala tea and it tasted watered down. One waiter told us to go up front when we were ready to pay for our meal. We told that waiter that we were paying separately. Of course the other waiter wanted us to pay at the table and already had our check as one instead of seperate. When we walked over to pay at front (I didnt trust they would seperate it correctly)the waiter acted very annoyed. I highly do not recommend this place. I feel cheated having to have payed for that meal. Im never going back again.

Terrible service for take out - would not listen when their online ordering system malfunctioned got my food an hour late and was charged extra for "their time" and rudely told me I was wrong to request my food be redelivered. Will not order food from them EVER again!! They didnt even offer to replace the food with fresh food or anything! The food came with soggy, stiff naan, and cold curry. Taste of India is much better quality, service and hospitality. I would rather order dominos in the future than contribute to the Taaj. Driver continues to harass via text messages regarding my yelp review despite my request he erase my private number and cease using it for personal reasons. I have screenshots of what the driver sent to me at his own will after delivering the food, because his demeanor and reaction to my discontentment with my experience made me feel uncomfortable. If the owner would like to see them I will gladly remove this review and show him how his employees handle customer complaints. Thank you.

So I have been to eat here a few times. The first two times were pretty good however this last time I filled my plate and got back to my table with my mother and half of the sauces were basically cold and the other half mildly warm. Nothing was hot. the Tandoori Chicken was cold also. I signaled the waiter and told him of the issue and he proceeded to check that the heaters were working which they were so my guess is that the sauces and chicken were not warmed prior to loading into the buffet and had not been in there long enough to warm up to a level of what I would even call safe for a buffet. He offered to warm it up in the Microwave which I declined. At checkout I was charged the full price of the meal and there wasnt even an apology or an offer of a discount on mine or my mothers meal. The prior two times one off the menu and the other for buffet I dont recall a temp issue and the food was pretty good but I doubt I will be back due to the way this last one was handled.

WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND..!!! We are dining with them for over 3 years now, always had some minor issues but never complained. These guys will do anything to sell your products! Ordered rasmalai maybe for 100 times before and this time it was clearly melted strawberry ice cream on top of ras gullay, tasted gross, smelled disgusting. Called for this minor issue 1st time in whole 3 years and it was terrible customer service. They said that they do it like this and they dont even care ..!! Would never recommend. We have tried to order something else after leaving them an honest review and these people refused to serve us because the review was honest and negative . TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service.. Satay away!!!!

Best Indian in Spokane, easily. The other two are inedible, as far as I am concerned. This place is always consistant. My kids love it, and the manager (owner?) always gives me half price on them - even though they eat way more than me...LOL The buffet is always fresh and well stocked. It is not the best Indian food I have ever had in my life (that was in London...) but it is excellent for Spokane. Staff is always attentive and polite. I am always thanked every time I visit. And they always give me a coupon for later! And four people can pig-out for under $40....cant even do that at Qdoba....

I went in to have the lunch buffet and thought that the food was OK the server was very helpful in pointing out the vegetarian dishes. However I found it very strange that it was well into the lunch hour and I was the only customer there. I went to the rest room and the place was filthy and run down,as I was walking out of the place I noticed the front glass door was greasy and dirty. It turned me off enough not to go back.

5 star for food but 3 star for service. I have been coming here on average once every ten days for ages during lunch time. While I understand its buffet, the fact that water isnt refilled as often as it used to or forcing garlic bread when you asked for plain is just wrong. Familiarity breeds contempt...perhaps. I like the food, thats why I keep coming back...and their food is best tasting in town for sure.

I have ate take away from both here, and at the "taste of India" (the other big Indian restaurant in town) and can say hands down that this place has better food. Taaj gives more chicken and has higher quality ingredients, better naan bread, better rice, better everything. If youre looking for a take away, shop here. I wont eat anywhere else when it comes to Indian food.

Dinner portions are skimpy and I didnt personally like the recipe they use for Malai Kofta (Vegetable balls). The lunch buffet, however, is great and that is what I recommend to anyone who likes Indian food. The service was not the worst, but the guy who came to our table the most did not speak english very well and he made odd faces and shrugged off what we said.
