I ordered their steak and rice, yams, cabbage. It was very bland. I returned to the store from work and requested a refund or the opportunity to get something different. The lady, manager, asked to see my plate. I literally took a bite of everything, its didnt even look as if the plate had been touched. She then told me " thats what salt and pepper is for". You cant put salt and pepper on bland candied yams. My food was $10 she only refunded me $7. Once I asked about the rest of my refund she said she was not giving it to me bc I ate some of the food?! How else am I supposed to know its bland? My co-workers and I will no longer be ordering there over $3 and poor customer service! I wouldnt waste my time eating at this place.

I HAVE LIVED IN THE SOUTH FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS AND NEVER KNEW WHAT THEY MEANT BY SOUL FOOD. THE NURSES AT UAMS ORDERED OUT ONE DAY AND I AM SOOOO GLAD I WAS INCLUDED! AS A THE LIGHTEST SKIN YOU CAN BE, MY FAMILY NEVER COOKED FOOD LIKE THIS. ALL I CAN SAY IS "OH MY GOD", AND MOANED WITH DELIGHT AFTER EACH BITE, WHEN I HAD THE TURKEY AND CORNBREAD DRESSING COVERED GIBLET GRAVY AND CRANBERRY SAUCE. IT IS TO DIE FOR. I AM TAKING MY MOTHER THERE TODAY. SHE IS NOT GOING TO LIKE THAT I THINK IT BEATS OUR ITALIAN DISHES TO THE GROUND. I CANT WAIT TO SAVOR THE GREENS AND HOMEADE MAC AND CHEESE. I GUESS IM NOT MOVING BACK TO JERSEY AFTER ALL.... LOL

My expectations were so high, that the meal I purchased was an epic fail. My taste buds wasnt in agreement with the mac n cheese it was bland and watery. Most importantly my fried chicken was bland as well, wasnt much seasoning, and the skin wasnt crispy as I would expect it to be from a soul food restaurant. I was truly heartbroken with my corn bread. Almost, seems as if it was made step by step from the back of the jiffy cornbread box. Nothing was added to give it a distinct taste for instance sugar, eggs, etc. However, I enjoyed my peach cobbler, they will receive a 5 star for the peach cobbler.

I had the fried chicken, yams, greens, yeast roll, and peach cobbler...for lunch...yes I was stuffed, there were no bites left, and Im ok with that. The chicken is excellent, its good like I wish mamma made it like this when I was growing up. The yams were spot on and the greens were even better. That yeast roll though...dang it was the best I have had in recent memory, it may be among the best period. Peach cobbler isnt my favorite of the cobblers but I am so happy I go it, this one was was good enough to convert me. The attention to detail and service here set it in another league!

Me and my husband have been eating here for about 4 years the last of the last two years the food has not been so great macaroni and cheese is overcooked the cabbage is not seasoned the chicken Is not season the steak is not real sometimes the cornbread it is dry

If you are in the Downtown area and have a craving for some soul food for breakfast or lunch, this is the place. If you are want to stop by for breakfast while headed to work, I suggest calling in your order. The wait can be a little lengthy.

Friendly service, good food. Cant please everyone with spice level, but a bit bland to me. The dressing and mac and cheese were both too runny as well. Ill be back to try other items that may not require continual heat by adding water.

I enjoyed the food it was great, I do take out as I go visit my mom in a nursing home which I take her a plate and she loves GOOD soul food. When I dont visit mom I find myself wanting to go to this place. No complaints yet.

Enjoy the atmosphere reminds me of when my Mom and Grandma would cook big dinners and invite many family members to come. I would recommend you to join and come fellowship with Davids Family Kitchen and eat with soul food

Everytime I come home I cant leave without stopping by. This place Is known for having some of the best food in the city. My favorite has to be the catfish. If youre ever in little Rock you have to try Davids Kitchen.
