Had high hopes for Diablo Burgers. The atmosphere was good, not a lot of seating, and the waitresses seemed a bit rude, though. Ordered the Marilyn (their version of the cheeseburger, but good luck understanding some of the menu items without asking an employee) cooked at their recommended "medium-rare". The food, however, is where this place fell short: real short. The English-muffin bun is a cool and interesting concept, but the burger as a whole was mediocre at best. The medium rare was more like a medium-well done but that isnt a big deal to me. What was a big deal however, was the saltiness of the food as well as the awful after taste left after several hours of eating there. The meat was very dry and was only made better by the cheese and vegetables. The fries were good, but again, drowned with tons of salt. The food is unfortunately very pricey for what youre ultimately getting. As a first time customer, you may be suckered in by paying upwards of 14$ for an average burger and some fries with their "all about local" slogan and their facts about the beef being better for you (but not full of salt, mind you!). It would seem Diablo Burgers, a relatively new restaurant (est 2009) is committing the sin of jacking up the price of their food based on locale and giving meaningless reasons for doing so. Theres nothing wrong with eating local, but these burgers are something that someone could easily make at home; I did (without killing the natural taste of the beef with salt), using 100% grass-fed, open range-raised, antibiotic-free and growth-hormone-free beef that anyone can buy from the store. Tuscon is full of mom and pop places with amazing food and good prices. If you love salt and mediocre burgers and want to shell out a lot of money, you cant go wrong; for those of us who want good food at a great price, we will gladly take our business elsewhere. Diablo Burgers seems like a nice concept gone to waste.

Great experience and amazing food. Parking in downtown Tucson during the Rock & Gem Show can be a little insane, but my lunch companion and I found affordable, secure parking less than a block away to the east. There might be closer parking just to the south of Diablo Burger. Once inside, we found the waitstaff incredibly enthusiastic and informed about the menu and Diablos wider mandate for excellent locally-sourced food. (See their website to discover how local food can be done *right*.) The eatery itself is 21st Century Hip Industrial, minimalist but comfortable. Though I suspect the restaurant becomes really loud in the evenings, having local community radio KXCI in the background was fun and mellow for a mid-afternoon lunch. Food? Some of the best burgers in Arizona, hands down. Incredibly lean, fresh, grassfed beef doesnt need a lot of spices or fancy treatment. Listen to your server when she or he tells you dont ask for it to be too well-done, because that would just ruin the meat. Fresh english muffin buns, in-house homemade ketchup, flavored mayos and other dipping sauces, fresh local and seasonal veggies, and some truly mouth-watering potato frites round out the foodgasm. Ive been doomed to a gluten-free diet since before it became a fad, so biting into a DB burger with a local bakerys perfect gluten-free bun was a vacation in itself. Prices are reasonable for what you get. My friend had the Big Daddy Kane and I had the Wrigley Field burger, plus Spindrift sodas for both of us. We had world-class burgers, at way less than NY or San Francisco prices. DB is now a regular stop on my Tucson trips!

Walking in I expected a counter and register. I was warmly greeted and invited to sit anywhere. The waiter gave me a menu, but I came prepared. I ordered the build your own burger with pepper jack cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce with a Coke. The food took a while but it wasnt forever. It was definitely worth the wait. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and had juice (not fat) dripping into the frys making those taste even better. I was pleasantly surprised how well the English muffin went with the burger. The meat was perfectly seasoned. The cheese has just the right bite. And the sauce was a good sweetness for balance. Needless to say the burger was gone quickly. The frites (or fries) are seasoned with thyme and rosemary but not too much of either. With the succulent drippings from the burger these are irresistible. They offered me ice cream for desert. Nope way too full. The price was on the high side but the only burger to match this one slides off my grill.

This is quite simply one of the best burgers in town and the only one of its kind in the state (save for their Flagstaff location). Yes, you pay a little more. When you source everything locally, costs are higher. If thats not your thing, you might want to go elsewhere. Is the seating uncomfortable? It sure aint the most comfy seating in the world, but it fits the aesthetic. Is it always perfect? No, of course not. Ive eaten countless burgers at Diablo Burger and 99% of them are the most amazing burger Ive ever had, but on occasion it might be overcooked or something is off. This occurs in any restaurant. Is it loud? It can be. But so is every Fox restaurant, too. The gist, though: locally sourced burgers from bun to beef to toppings. And theyre GOOD.

I disagree with the reccomendation of ordering the burger medium rare. I ordered it medium well with the hope it would not be bloody. She made it sound as if well done would be a burned hockey puck. This place would be great if they kept that suggestion to themselves. The owner clearly likes raw burgers. My medium well burger was straight up raw. My girlfriends medium burger was...... A terrible sight to see. The home made "local" ketchup...... Sucks. This was my second time here. Over priced menu and undercooked burgers. Total thumbs down. I would rather eat fast food than this place. Stuck up atmosphere. Local local local. Get bent Diablo Burger!

This is the Bobs Burgers of Tucson... There are burger joints everywhere in town and they all have their own flair. One slaps juicy delicious meatloaf between two slices of bread. Another stacks patties so high it makes my stomach hurt. Diablo Burger spices up American tradition with fat patties with bold flavor. This is a place you must try if you are in the mood for a hefty portion of locally sourced ingredients slapped between two English muffins. The fries are delicious and I was not let down when I decided to try the vegi burger. You cant go wrong with this place.

Service was good, atmosphere was good, fries were good, beer prices were good but they should definitely add more variety. I only had one issue. Why would you take beef this great- and it is clearly very good beef- and ruin it by cooking it over gas? I suppose the easiest answer is that the location makes it difficult (at the least) to cook with coal. The burgers were good. If it werent for the gas flavor, they might have been close to excellent. If you cant taste the difference between gas and charcoal or you dont care, you will probably really like this place.

Decided to pop in because this place has the same initials as me. Yeah, its silly but the food looked good as well so win-win. Was greeted by a friendly server and told to sit anywhere we liked. I ordered my burger medium-rare to get the best flavor experience out of their grass fed beef but was left wanting. It didnt taste bad but Ive had burgers where the meat jumps out at you with flavor and complexity. Not so much here. The fries were good and so were their dipping sauces. Next time Im in Tucson, Ill definitely give them another try.
