A group of us recently visited the Wolfhound for the first time and were happy to see that it is Irish owned and operated, too many Irish by name concept type pubs in this country. Met one of the owners Declan, who entertained us with a few Irish stories and anecdotes (I would say, keep your daughters locked up around this likeable rogue). We had some appetizers which were served in a timely manner and equally tasty. We shared a few entrees and our favorites were the Lamb Shank and Shepherds Pie. Irish food is some of the best comfort food in the world and the Wolfhound seem to have figured out, how to serve it best. There is a great selection of Beers on tap and we tipped a few Guinness and sipped a few Jameson. Being an Irish descendant it was great to see all the different Irish items displayed and I felt like I was sitting in a pub in the Old Country. We only stayed for some of the live music on this Friday night and wished we had gone out a little later as it seems to be a great late night hangout as the place started to fill up again, but alas too many Guinness had been consumed. All the best to crew that own the place, finally someone has filled the void out in this part of the world. Slainte

Literally had the worst experience. The door guy wouldnt let me in because I am a medical patient. He said he didnt know how "high" I was. I asked him because I had my medicine before taking a taxi to come get some food that because of that he couldnt let me in? In complete attitude He said yes. I felt completely discriminated by this. I had no choice but to walk away. I take my medicine very seriously and my medicine is the only thing that allows me to get up and out of the house.. to be turned away when its the only time I am able to move completely put me in an awful mood. The door boy was rude and refused to let me in when there was no sign of me being high other than the smell on my clothes. I will never come here and so many from the medical community will be turned off by this place as well. I completely understand the law and not being able to come into a place while being already "intoxicated" the difference is I was medicated and completely functional when there is a woman throwing up in the parking lot from drinking too much in the bar.. huge difference. This little bar and grill has completely lost my business along with fellow medical patients. L

The service here is terrible. Theyd better figure things out soon or they are going to be shut down as quick as they opened. We walked in to what looks like a nice place. They have open seating so a friend and I took a seat at a 2-person high-top table. The place was pretty full with only a few empty tables. After waiting patiently for 10 minutes to even get a menu we asked a passing employee for help. Nothing. I then called the place on my cell phone and requested a server for the game room area. A server and the manager came by to take our orders, however we still hadnt even gotten a menu. I ordered a beer while they went to get menus. Meanwhile I watched as an employee brought food to a nearby table which turned out to be a disaster as their orders were apparently messed up. 5 minutes later we still hadnt gotten our drinks or any menus so we decided to leave and walk to Chipotle across the street. Way to blow a good first impression. Ill stick to other restaurants/bars that know good service.

DONT GO HERE! At about 8:30 last night I walked in and and sat down at the bar. I was alone that night and was gonna grab some drinks and some food. The bartender took about 15 minutes before asking if I had been helped. I told him what I would like to drink but was not given a food menu. I asked him for one when his back was turned but he was only 3 feet away so I thought he heard me. Well it never came and when another bartender came by I asked her for one. She ignored me, I guess because I wasnt in her section, and basically refused to make I contact. Well I ended up asking another patron for theirs and I ordered chicken wings. They took forever to come out and when they finally did they were cold. I ended up eating them because I was hungry and now the next day I feel sick. This is the first time I have ever went on the internet to warn people about a restaurant but if they are going to serve people bad food then I feel obligated to. Furthermore service was slow and inattentive.

If you’ve seen any of my other reviews, you know I’m a sucker for Irish themed pubs. That’s why I was excited when driving out to the west valley when I came across The Irish Wolfhound. The atmosphere of is great with you usual dark wood furniture and relaxed atmosphere. Additionally, there was a spacious outdoor patio with comfortable seating. Unfortunately, the food doesn’t live up to the décor. I’ve been here on four separate occasions and I was always disappointed by how bland my food was. The Sheppard’s pie was just mashed potatoes with ground hamburger meat inside. The Wolfhound Irish stew was greasy and the lamb was somehow both stringy and fatty at the same time. The fish and chips were really heavily breaded and the burger was ok for a regular burger. The beer selection here is ok and they do have a happy hour (although not on Fridays) but I really see no reason to make the journey.

If there was an Irish version of the Cheers Bar in Surprise, it would be called The Irish Wolfhound! This is truly a place where neighbors and friends can meet up for good conversation, authentic Irish food, live music and a fun time. Were picky about what Irish places we go to because my husband is from Ireland and theres something to be said about the places that call themselves Irish just because they slap a few paper shamrocks on the wall. Not so at the Wolfhound--theyve got decor and items brought over from Ireland. Beyond the great food, my kids LOVE the game room, snug and hanging out on the patio, which is one of the coolest ones in Surprise. If you havent checked out the Wolfhound yet, you need to go there soon because its a place where "everybody knows your name"! ; )

Irish Wolfhound offers a good variety of traditional dishes with that slight American twist that makes it pleasing to our tastes. As youd expect they also poor a good tasty mug of Guiness at a reasonable price. We ate at the bar and had to wait a while for the food but it was a busy night so it didnt bother us too much. The one thing we were disappointed in is the atmosphere. It really doesnt feel like a pub as much as it does a regular restaurant and the patrons were mostly gray-haired as is typical in this area. I have nothing against them at all but its not an ideal atmosphere for people in their 20s. Well go back again but it is not as exciting as I was hoping itd be when I heard an Irish Pub was opening around the corner.
