I ordered food from cheba Hut on Southern in mesa at around 6:30pm and waiting for hours to get my food. I then called Cheba Hut and they told me that they didnt know where I lived so they just left, yet they had my phone number and address from the order I left online. They came back and I got my food around 8:30pm and the delivery man didnt even get out of his car to give me my food. When I opened my sandwich it was a completely different sandwich from what I ordered. I also asked for no pickles because I am allergic to them and there was in fact pickles in my sandwich. I could have nearly had an allergic reaction. I called and complained to them and they said I could either get a free sub next time I go or they send me a new one. I asked for a new one of course and the delivery man STILL just sits in his car without giving me my food.. by far the worst customer service I have experienced at any fast food restaurant.

Cheba Hut is my favorite sandwich place in all of Phoenix. Imagine a sandwich joint in the 70’s where the likes of Jerry Garcia and Cheech and Chong would come to eat. The place is modeled with pot memorabilia from the 70’s with paintings of Bob Marley and Janis Joplin adoring the walls no detailed is spared down to the miniature figurines of Cheech and Chong near the menu. The sandwich names don’t disappoint either with choices ranging from Panama Red, Magic Mushroom, Humboldt, Chronic to one of my personal favorites the KGB featuring Roast Beef combined with horseradish, giardinarra peppers, bell peppers, mushroom and swiss cheese. Do yourself a favor and visit Cheba Hut and reset your expectations of what true artisan sandwiches should be Liked: Food, Atmosphere, Value Disliked: No locations in Scottsdale!!!!!

So, the food was delicious, but I really think they need a new receptionist at the register. The lady who took my order the other day charged an amount to my card for a sandwich. She then stated, "Oh, the register isnt printing receipts, so you need to pay with cash." I payed with cash and then asked if she was sure that the transaction did not go through on my card. She then replied "no, I deal with this all of the time." Needless to say, she was WRONG and my card was charged for the tendered amount. Therefore I had to file a claim with my bank all because this person did not know how to work a register. Just because there is no receipt printed doesnt mean the transaction was voided. Please upgrade either the register or the attendant if you value your customers.

Went there years ago and wasnt disappointed. Having moved back to the east side, this is now my favorite sandwich shop. I was surprised that their quality hasnt dropped off over the years. Some others are hit and miss often times, depending on the staff. Silvermine comes to mind, for example. However, Cheba Hut is consistently excellent. At first glance you might think your in for an adventure, because of the "young" staff, but despite their appearance these guys are true sandwich artists. The pot smoking motifs are a little hokey, but in good fun. I just wish the sandwiches had normal names, so I could remember what had last time. This is only a minor issue, as im sure no matter what I order, Im sure it will be great.

Update: been almost a year since Ive been to Cheba. Decided to give it another try the other day. Much better!!!! New staff and good food now. Been a regular customer and the food and service was always beyond excellent. Unfortunately as of the last few times Ive been in every order has been messed up. First visit I ordered the kush with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Only received bacon on bread. This time asked the same as usual, saying no to mustard. Sure enough got mustard. Not a tasty combo (personally). All in all used to love the place. Dont know what happened

Worst service from any Cheba Hut in the valley. Weve tried ordering from this location twice already and each time they took WELL over the time specified. This time they had my husband standing there waiting, not even bothering to ask if he needed any help (or even responding to him when he tried to get their attention) until 40 minutes AFTER we had placed our order (while I was waiting in the car the entire time, by the way). Turns out, they had our order ready the whole time, they just didnt bother letting him know. Try the Tempe location. Much better service.

Customer service needs to be retrained or get new staff that knows what to do. Ordered a sandwich and paid got my food to see the wrong size went back to tell them and he said oh I pressed the wrong button Im sorry Ill just charge you for the 4 inch. So they messed up my sandwich and still charged me extra for their mistake. Dont even think bout calling them they will hang up on you and send you to voicemail when you call back. I have alway loved Cheba hut and the food is excellent but I shouldnt have to pay for the mess up of the staff.

Yeah their sandwiches are the bomb, however just make sure that if you ask to leave off an ingredient to make sure that happens. As of recent certain staff has a bias towards those who prefer to not have pickles, then upped the teriyaki sauce when you call them out on it. So what its just a spear of pickle --even if its the size of a torpedo, I still dont want pickles. Its happened before and it has gotten old. Hey staff, if it werent for us loyal customers there would be no Cheba Hut; respect your customers and they will reciprocate.

This is a marijuana themed subshop. It is a franchise. The decor is intentional. Lots of photos of Ice Cube, Bob Marley, Snoop Dog. Lots of stickers all over the place. It reminded me of some of the youth hostels over seas that cater to the 420/reggae crowd. The food is good, but just as good as Planet Sub, Quiznos, etc. I dont think I would make a special trip here just for the sub. Everyone seemed very friendly. I was a little turned off by the weed theme. Its not my thing, but hey, try it at least once.

Been a customer for over 10 years, but as of late, delivery has literally taken over an hour an a half for only being a few miles away. I would highly recommend just going in to get your food. Dont get me wrong, they are super busy all the time, so maybe this is why they take so long. But still this is the only place I have to actually call to be sure they didnt forget my order. They are amazing though. So good. Go in, grab your grub and just nom on it and listen to some fine tunes while your there. Cheba Hut!!

Used to be a regular, but I came back after being gone a couple months and went to order my favorite sub, the train wreck, only to find they took it off the menu and rearranged everything so I suddenly had to search for something as the cashier gave me attitude about it. Tried to get ice for my drink and only got slush out of the machine. Never going back. My new sandwich sucked and they got the order wrong (so my bill was higher than it should have been between that mishap and the newly raised prices). Bleh.
