The service is great here, the prices are decent, but the food just isn’t great. Recently moved to the Holladay area and needed to find some good Chinese food. We chose Mountain City because of the 4.7 star rating. Our first impressions were great: the place is clean, the setup and decor are pleasant, and the service was great. We were helped by two women, both of whom were very friendly and attentive. We even got our food very quickly, all of which predisposed us to like the place. Then the food arrived. It was underwhelming, to say the least. We ordered the pepper steak and General Tso’s Chicken. My husband reported that his chicken was “okay,” but my steak had an unpleasant flavor, and everything seemed incredibly greasy. I ended up eating very little of my meal, and we both agreed after leaving that we feel no need to ever return. I’m not a Chinese food snob by any means, but I do expect more from such a well-reviewed restaurant. At the end of the day, it’s in a good location with great service, but the food is sub par. If you just want Chinese food quickly, then by all means, go here. But if you’re looking for Chinese food you’ll wolf down and still want more of, then you might want to try somewhere else.

I was next door at Ace hardware and saw the cashier eating Chinese food behind the counter. I asked him where he got that (I was hungry and working on a job down the road) and he said right next door. He said they can get me a little to-go box with fried rice and veggies in about 5 min. I walked in and said Id like the same thing. A little Chinese lady said "oh sure" and went to the back to give the cook my order and then brought me out a cup of egg drop soup to have as I waited. She seated me at the table and the soup was decent. Im not even a huge fan of egg drop soup in the front eat place. She was fast and caring about my wishes. Seems like great service so I hope they stay in business forever!

The best Chinese in the Salt Lake area (all of Utah really), PERIOD. Many restaurants may have some gimmicky and fun dishes, but I have LOVED EVERY SINGLE DISH I PUT IN MY MOUTH FROM HERE. This is a no frills restaurant, with the love of grandma added in from the owner. I have never had a dish with too much oil or grease served up. Dishes I normally steer away from in other establishments I love to ear here. And I cant say enough about the over the top service the owner has always given us (granted we tend to go outside of popular hours). End of the day it is worth the extra 15 minute drive to eat here I stead of the 3 other Asian places within a mile of me.

The service here is truly amazing. Imagine being waited on by your grandmother. That is exactly what you get with Kiem the wonderful little old lady that seems to be in charge here. She will even tell you to eat more and teach you Chinese. The food here is much like any other American Chinese restaurant only made with more care showing up to your table at the perfect temperature in the perfect order at the perfect time every time. But the atmosphere created by the people working here makes it truly one-of-a-kind. You will not be unhappy if you choose to eat at this place and she will send your children home with a pile of fortune cookies.

The food was okay (sauce was literally like jello), and the service was honestly the worst (Im saying this as a waitress myself). At first, the waitress was somewhat rude but I let it go. When I asked for my check and went to give her my card, she told me her machine was down. She wrote down my credit card number and then told me I had to leave the restaurant and get cash. I came back a few minutes later with cash I took out from Walgreens, but she still had my card number and refused to give me the paper. Im going to cancel my card right now. Its just a weird place and I dont trust it at all.

did take away, had to wait about 15 min inside the restaurant waiting for food, even in the phone they said ready in 10 min. Did was pretty tasty, but nothing to write home about. best thing was the appetizers, got char su and pot stickers (both came with a very tasty sauce). main dishes were just OK, ordered pork lo mein, pon pon chicken and ham fried rice. but got pork lo mein (yeah!), sweet and sour chicken (meh, at best) and white rice (better than no rice) + a thing of egg drop that maybe I paid for, but def didnt order. over all very mediocre experience, and wont bother going back.

Our family, especially our daughter, loves this place. While it looks and has the menu of a typical American Chinese place...its better. I do think the food is better than its competitors but the owner(s) is the greatest. She is always very friendly and usually throws in extra soup or cookies with out take out orders. She goes out of her way to talk to and ask my kids questions (school, friends and activities). Overall, one of the few places that feels like an old school place where they treat you like friends and neighbors.

While working at the salon across the way (Lunatic Fringe) I had a guest bring in some left over lunch. She told me how amazing the food was and where it was. I am SOOO glad she did! Me and my husband tried it out for the first time and its delicious! It was explained to us that everything is home made and it shows! My husband loves real egg roles and since moving to Utah nothing has fit until now! Totally recommend and we will be going back!!!!

I have been to this establishment twice now, and I have pleased with both the service and the food. I had to get my food to go, but the quality did not suffer. I was offered, and consumed, a free bowl of hot and sour soup while my to go order was being prepared. The flavor and balance was great, nice touch. Check this restaurant out, maybe next time Ill stay and eat.

Wow! Wasnt sure what to expect going in based on some of the varying reviews but this was a great meal. Really quick service, extremely fair portions, and personal attention by the owner (who was our waitress as well). She even tossed in a free spicy egg drop soup to go just because I commented how much I enjoyed everything.

My husband and I love this place! The food is always amazing. We have our favorites (Singapore noodles and fortune chicken),but when we decide to try something new, were not disappointed. The owners are always so sweet and you can tell they love thier customers. We will not try another place in Holiday, this is our favorite!
