We visited this place the first weekend they were open and thought the service issues were due to that. But when we returned last week to give it another try, we were really disappointed. Our server was a nice guy but pretty scattered. My companion and I ordered a bottle of wine to share. The server brought it out, already opened with the cork placed back into the bottle (sticking out like you might do at home) and plopped the bottle and 2 glasses on our table… then walked away! He didn’t come back for at least 5 minutes so we decided to pop it open and pour it ourselves. Just a WEIRD experience – never had to do that in my many years of ordering bottles of wine. I think even Applebee’s would have opened and poured it for us! Other than shoddy service, the issue I had with this is that the opened bottle could have been a consolidated one from previous guests. Or opened the night before, or who knows what could be in there? When the server finally returned I asked him about it and he just gave a lame excuse and blamed it on his “ADD” but seriously, it had to be a conscious thing. I wonder if this is standard practice at the establishment? The mediocre service continued and we seemed to wait a while for our food, but the table next to us (seated before we were) didn’t get their food until we were paying our bill. The food itself was actually delicious – I had the filet mignon which comes with cheddar mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The only criticism I have there is that the filet had a bit cut “X” in the center, which tells me that the kitchen does not know what they are doing. They obviously cut into it to test the doneness and if you have ever watched Food Network you know that cutting into a steak is a BIG no-no because it lets out all the juices. You are supposed to let it rest for 5 minutes after cooking so the juices settle in. So in summary – don’t waste your time and money going to this place. You can spend the same amount and get far better food and service at Gordon Biersch or the Keg (if you want steak).

Dinner for 2, Thursday 6pm. Place was packed, although there was no wait. The waits seemed to begin at about 6:30. Atmosphere. Atmosphere is cool, but dark... neat industrial lights, big TVs at the bar. Lots of tables. All of the tables we saw inside were bar height, with bar stools. Pretty uncomfortable to sit on a bar stool for dinner and drinks (we were there a little over an hour). There are some standard tables outside on the patio. All the employees we encountered were very friendly. Michael was our server and he was very good, although we did wait a while for each course to come out, and for drinks on more than one occasion. Drinks. The beer selection is good, but nothing to write home about. Offhand, there were probably 15 beers on tap and some more in bottles. I had a Flagstaff IPA and a Sculpin from Ballast Point. My wife had a raspberry mint mojito and a mule. Her drinks were pretty weak, which seems to match several other reviews. Apps. We had a spicy tuna roll and the edamame. Wouldnt get the sushi again... this just isnt a sushi place. The tuna was seared, which was weird... and the "spicy" was a separate sauce. Sorry, but thats not a spicy tuna roll. The edamame order was very large, and the sauce was a mildly spicy soy ginger. It was very good. Mains. We had the IPA fish and chips, and the baja fish tacos. The fish and chips were cooked perfectly. The "napa slaw" was bland. Id order it again. The tacos were decent. Overall.... just OK. Definitely didnt live up to the hype. A "bar food" kind of place... probably fine for a beer and a burger, but dont go expecting anything more. We spent about $90 and wish we had gone somewhere else.

This was my first time coming to thirsty lion. Awesome vibe, good music and awesome happy hour prices... We ordered 6 happy hour dishes and when the first 3 came out... there was a hair in our sauce! At first, one of the servers was just going to take the sauce away. About 6 mins later, a lady that looked like a manager brought the dish out... she was not apologetic it at all. None of the servers acknowledged that there was a hair in our food.... overall, the wait time was a little long and the staff were not very friendly, but the food was above average.... oh the music was awesome! They actually play music videos.

The experience is very bad.when we got there waited 10 minutes before anyone even approch us so i had to get the hostess to get our drink.when the waitress came she had a very bad attitude so we said just the drink..so when it was time to pay i asked for separate tabs but she just kept walkin.when it was time to pay i paid with cash and it was change back when she look at the receipt she was like u want change back and it 30ct and i said yes..we waited another ten minutes and whe she came back she gave me 30ct in pennies..so thats when i ask for a manager..it was my first and last time there.

We ordered the awesome pomegranate salad. I ordered a really good dragoon ipa. Unknown to me I received a 13oz when I ordered a 20oz. I suspected it was a little small but thought nothing of it. Out if nowhere Shawn walks up. He admits the honest mistake and gives me a free beer. This is a place that will go out to make it right before you know its even wrong. They gave awesome food and its pretty cheap for the quality. Thank you for making this a great first visit. Will definitely return. Thirsty lion goes above and beyond to make customers happy.

Ive been to the Tempe location a few times and just went to the Gilbert location for the first time this past weekend. What a great team you guys have! We had a party of 7 but didnt make reservations. They told us 30 min wait and they would text us when our table was ready (so convenient!). Ended up being only a 15 min wait. Despite being packed, our server Dylan was prompt and attentive. Food was incredible. Ambiance was perfect for a work get together. We all had a great experience and good time out. Thanks for everything!

First time coming here on a Sunday at noon. Place was fairly busy and waitress didnt let us order apps when she took our drink order. She left so fast. Drinks came 15 minutes later. My wife ordered a 2nd drink and it also took 15 minutes before they brought it and we were ready to leave by then. No apologies for the long wait or anything. We wouldve been more understanding to the long waits, but our waitress didnt seen to care. Beer and drink prices are kind of high. Glad I tried them, but it we wont go back.

Worst ever. Never coming back here in my life... I rather slurp on a cows utters then eat here. You wait probably 15 hours just sitting there waiting for your food. And the food was complete garbage. I went to McDonalds earlier today and it was 100 times better. The quality of the food is a negative 14 out of 10. The waiter was the worst at her job and I was so disappointed that when I walked out of the restaurant i lowered my head as if my 9 year old poodle died. Worst restaurant ever I do not recommend it.
