This place rocks. I went in about a year ago. They were pretty slow but the owner sat me down and took my order. Sonya was her name I believe. Shes awesome. I am a gyro freak and have had them from about everywhere in the valley. These are the best. They are huge and if remember correctly, I got fries, hummus, a giant gyro , and a drink for about $6.50. I took my parents there a few nights later. They both loved it and my mom doesnt really do Greek. Sonya recommended some homemade garlic sauce to add to the gyro along with the traditional cucumber sauce. I must say, it was totally radical dude. I decided to review today because I remembered the high quality of service, the friendly staff, the large portions, and the quality of their food. They took pride in the food they served. If there was a picture of their food on the menu (like mcdonalds) it would come out on your plate looking like the one on the menu (unlike mcdonalds). The only thing I didnt care for was the hummus. It was kind of bland with just olive oil drizzled over. I like a roasted red pepper, or garlic, or along those lines type of flavored hummus. Im going there today to grab one of these slices of gyros heaven. I hope their quality, quantity, and service are the same as I received before, both times. Awesome job Phoenicia Cafe! Thanks for taking pride in what you do. It shows!

Opa! Im speaking Greek, right? I write this review as a Caucasian male whose only familiarity with Mediterranean cuisine was when I ingested a leaf while eating grapes. Turns out the leaf ended up being from a tomato vine. Im still wondering how that wilted foliage found its way into my cluster of concords. Back to Phoenicia. My first time there, I orderd the safest thing I could find... gyro and fries. Roasted lamb and cucumber yogurt sauce. It was like my mouth was having a party, and everyone was invited. But wait, it gets better. I see they have babaganoosh, and momentarily, I flash back to the Wedding Crashers movie. Great, now I have to order it... and Im glad I did. Its just eggplant, people. On subsequent visits, I ordered the chicken shawarma and kabobs, cilantro jalapeo hummus, tatziki. Fantastic. There is also a great place in Tempe called Haji-Baba. Phoenicia also has a huge mural on the wall, of a Greek coastal setting, which you can stare at while you fill up. For some reason, I keep reminding myself to wait an hour before going into the water. This place is a real treat. And their treats (desserts) and great too. Ill take the pistachio baklava.

Owner argued for about ten minutes that the word complimentary did in no way mean free with a poor customer who kept trying to cite the dictionary as a source. This in itself didnt deter me from eating there, and only made me slightly weary. Unfortunately next time I went by their open sign was on but when I approached the door the owners daughter told me they need ten minutes. I said she should probably turn off the open sign if they arent open yet. She just snubbed me and just repeated herself. Strangely enough this is some of the best Greek food Ive had in Phoenix, but I think the owner and her daughters arent exactly the greatest people at this point.

We have eaten at this place a handful of times and it has always been good. However, a few days ago after eating here both me and my wife got very bad food poisoning. My wife has recovered but as I am writing this I am two days in and still very sick. I have thrown up 12 times and spent most of the last 2 days in the bathroom. I have experienced dizzyness, blacking out, weakness, chills, sweating, and aches. I cannot keep food down and whenever I drink water my stomach explodes. Based on the symptoms it sounds like this place may have given me Norovirus. I am finally getting a little better today (day 2), but am still not doing very well.

Not only did they get my order wrong, they told me I should keep the wrong order since it was worth more than I paid. We didnt want to eat what was given to us, so we said wed drive back the 20 minutes to get the correct order. However, they didnt even begin to cook my order until I showed up. At that point, I was treated RUDELY, as I waited like an idiot for them to correct my order. Never once was I offered any sort of compensation, never mind an an apology. The food was NOT worth the 2 hours of waiting and horrible customer service. Will not return, and I warn anyone who has interest in going.

We ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the beef shawarma plate! What can we say?! We love shawarma... The chicken shawarma is usually my favorite. But at this restaurant the beef shawarma is way more tastier! But dont get me wrong the chicken was also very good. This is a family owned restaurant.. everyone is really nice and friendly. Mother, father, daughter and son! They also have another location in Tempe that we will try out soon.

Awesome Mediterranean Food! I havent tried anything so far that I havent liked a lot. The Greek fries are always a treat. One thing they do a little differently here is that they bring the cheese and the dressing for the Greek fries on the side. You are supposed to add that to the fries yourself. They do this so that you can choose the amount that you want, in case you want more or leas of the toppings.

“Affordable pizza especially if you have food allergies!” I am both gluten and dairy free and Mod pizza provides a vegan crust. Their marinara used to have Parmesan cheese in it, but they have removed it now. I actually dont recommend their marinara as it lacking flavor. My favorite thing to do is get olive oil/garlic. They have many options of meats & veggies. They also have salad...

We just found the YUMMIEST Mediterranean food in Gilbert! TEN STARS! WOW!!! Hubby and I both had the gyro platter. It truly was the BEST and freshest gyro Ive ever had! The house salad was delicious. The basmati rice was flavorful and beautiful. And the staff was AMAZING in the way they worked together, so friendly and efficient. Weve found a new favorite restaurant!

Place is clean, food arrived fast , but...pictures show that the meal ( Shish Combo ) comes with rice...for $12.- a plate , I would like the plate to be what they advertise ...Not happy at all with it anymore...we used to go regularly now we will not go at all anymore...This was our last visit...overpriced for lesser food on the plate? Not in these times

“Great food, band and dancing” This place is great. I had the catch of the day, fabulous, their mohitos were really the best. Reservations recommended as they are very popular. My friends had the ostrich and it was excellent. Also the creme bruelet for dessert was really good. Not a far cab ride from our hotel. Best food we had in 5 days in Cape...

Greek fries...yum. Classic burgers...yum. Chicken shwarma...yum. Their burgers remind of Famous Burger from Michigan. Fridays are busy and seating is limited. We went there a couple of days ago and ended up sitting in the car to enjoy our burgers and Greek fries. Finally got to meet the owners and they were very friendly.
