Ive ALWAYS loved Iguana Grill. Every time someone asks about it I have nothing but great things to say about it, until today. I was with two co-workers, which I had talked into going because I loved this place so much. We all 3 ordered Chimichangas on the lunch menu. We were almost finished with our meal when I took a big bite of my chimichanga and got a toothpick in my mouth. I almost choked because it stabbed me in the back of the roof of my mouth (it made my eyes water). I got my waiters attention and showed him the toothpick and asked for the manager. He took my plate and apologized and asked if I was okay. The waiter came back without the manager and said that the manager said they put toothpicks in the chimichangas to keep it together. So the other 2 ladies with me dug around their chimichangas and they clearly did not have a toothpick. So the waiter went and got the manager. He was VERY rude and said that there was nothing he could do because I had pretty much eaten everything (a little more that half) Regardless, I wasnt finished. Then I brought to his attention that the other 2 ladies at my table did not have toothpicks in their food. His response was "well, it happens sometimes!" I am not the type of person that complains or sends food back, but I got really upset. I told him that I almost choked, what would they have done if I choked! He then stormed off. Needless to say, he did take it off my bill, but never came back to tell me, nor did he ask if I was okay. I thought it was very rude that he tried to make me feel like it was my fault I got stabbed in the mouth with a toothpick that was not visible to me. I am not a liar and I do not try to get things for free! Im sorry, but I am very upset that he made me feel that way and I will not be going there as long as I know that Jose is the manager there!

My family ate at the Iguana grill in early July. A gratuity was automatically charged ($3.77 on my bill) because of the large table. A week later as I was doing my bank books, I noticed a $3.00 overcharge on my bill. I phoned the Iguana grill and was told that I had to have the original receipt to lodge the complaint (which I kept) and a copy of my bank statement. I spent the afternoon getting a bank statement and driving across town to prove that I was overcharged. I met with the manager who first tried to convince me that my bank charged me the three dollars, then tried to tell me that the receipt that I presented him was not the correct receipt. Finally he went to the back and found the actual receipt that I signed, and someone had written a second tip on the receipt. The manager, Polo became belligerent, unhelpful, unfriendly and tried to put words in my mouth. Please take this review as a warning, if you are charged an automatic service tip, make sure to scratch out where the "add tip" is located or Polo, or someone else who works at the Iguana Grill in Tuscaloosa, might write an amount in the line. Most importantly, **MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BANK BALANCE AFTER EATING AT THE IGUANA GRILL*

I took my mother, son and his friend to Iguana Grill this weekend to eat dinner. I got a fairly expensive entree and my son always gets fajitas so the tab was fairly expensive for mexican food. We really like the atmosphere and also knew to expect higher prices since we eat at Iguana Grill fairly often. My mother and i got there before the boys did and tried to order. We were in a booth that was lit from underneath. However, the overhead bulb was out in the fixture. We told the waiter and he told us that he would ask the manager to look at it but dont count on it since they were so busy. We saw the manager from a distance walk by and glance at the fixture. In the meantime, we couldnt read our menus from lack of light. I already knew what i wanted so I ordered with no problem. My mother had never eaten there before and just picked a combination by the number. Our waiter came back and told us the light was working after all. Since it was obviously out, I unscrewed the bulb and sat it on the table. Nobody cared one bit! I called today and spoke to the manager and he apologized but that was the end of it. So, we wont go back there, ever!

Not worth it! Ive only been here twice and both times were disappointing. The food is unimpressive, and the menu selection is sparse (meat, beans, rice being the only things on the plate most of the time) if you dont go for lunch. This past trip, I took my mom and international roommate for dinner. Halfway through, she found a cockroach on the wall! Disgusted, we moved tables and the cockroach scurried under the booth cushion. Ugh!! When the waitress apologized, she asked if the manager had come by like she asked him to. Turns out he just walked over to our side of the restaurant, looked at us, and walked away! No apology, nothing! The waitress had to give us a discount instead. She was the only good thing about this place. Though the decor is truly beautiful, the food is tasteless, overpriced, and completely unauthentic (being from California, I know good mexican food). The majority of the staff is haughty, unhelpful, and acts like youre bothering them, the restaurant isnt very clean, and overall, youre better off someplace else. I have no reason to come back, and I wouldnt be sad if this junky place closed down.

Yes, the decor is nice, but if you dont eat meat, do NOT expect a good meal here. The first week the restaurant opened, they accommodated my request to add some vegetables (gasp!) to one of their vegetarian plates- all of which consisted of different combinations of beans, cheese, and sauce- no vegetables on a single vegetarian menu item. Since then I have been several times, and each time I have been told that they cannot make anything with vegetables added- stating that they have to"put it into the computer," one vegetable at a time, and that it would be about $2.00 for each vegetable I add. I know that spinach and mushrooms cost less than beef and chicken, yet they are unwilling to walk into the kitchen and ask someone to throw vegetables- WHICH THEY HAVE- into a tortilla. Go to ANY other Mexican place in Tuscaloosa, and not only will they have menu items that have vegetables in them, but they will also accommodate requests for vegetarian versions of other menu items that are NOT listed on the menu. Go to Los Tarascos instead- theyre great.

Took a while to get seated and theres nowhere to sit or wait so we were blocking the door and the waiters going through. We were seated at a big round table with a tree in it that blocked your view of the other people sitting across the table. Oddly, the table has a light under it not over it. All the waiters/waitresses were standing in a huge group by our table which to me did not make for a pleasant dining experience. The food was mediocre (enchiladas) but the salsa was good. I do like the decorations. The bill was not itemized so I couldnt tell if the tip was included or why the lunch was 5.99 but the bill was $9.51. Our waitress was nice but slow and couldnt remember who got what. I might return to see if other food items are better but Ill go in a smaller group and ask to be seated away from the wait station and the table with the big tree in it ;-)
