I have visited this restaurant on two separate occasions, and both times I got an instant stomach virus. The first time I thought it was just me or something I ate earlier however, after my second visit, I realized the food that El Comal is frozen and reheated for guests. This is a common practice for most restaurants and while El Comal has some fresh items on the menu like their guacamole, most of everything else is frozen. I only like to eat fresh food and refuse to be served frozen. Another thing, I can tell that Monosodium glutamate (MSG), a flavor enhancer, is added to the meat and other "fresh" products. Most of their food is not fresh; their chiles rellenos are frozen. Id rather wait longer to get a fresh meal than eat it after being frozen. My nieces carnitas tasted like they were rotten. Although this establishment offers military discount, its only a 4-5 % discount. Most places offer 10% but not these people because they want your extra $2-5 dollars. I will not be returning to this place.

DISGUSTING!!!!!! I found a hair in my salsa... Told the waitress about it then she came back to the table a few minutes later with the hair and one she plucked from her own head to compare them and say it wasnt hers. She then accused my friend sitting with me of putting it in there. I have NEVER in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant and i recommend NONE of you go there unless you like to be accused of something you didnt do or eat food that has hair in it. GROSS! Unfortunately I cant give it 0 stars.. I have to click on one.. But please note .. it would get 0 if possible

We have eaten at El Comal twice and were, both times, impressed with the staffs hospitality and enjoyed our meals enough to put the restaurant on the map as a place we planned to come back to. However, I recently heard from a reliable source that a manager at El Comal is not paying some of the restaurants employees - and that he owes one employee, Nathaniel Fox, about 92 hours of back wages. Hearing this made the prospect of eating at El Comal much less appealing. I will look forward to hearing that this wage issue is resolved before I consider eating here again.

This restaurant was recently acquired by a new owner and his family. They have done an excellent job improving what was already one of my favorite local restaurants. While visiting, I had the mixed steak fajitas fresh of the grill and with all of the spices and flavors, you would expect from authentic Mexican food. I will certainly be back for more and thank them for showing their support to the military community. If visiting come on down and give them a try, they do not skimp on portions, and all of their menu items are reasonably priced.

A great experience every time! The service is fast and friendly, and the food is always great. The atmosphere is comfortable and family-friendly by all means, offering plenty of room so as to make the restaurant feel spacious and not crowded. There is a large selection available for both dine-in and takeout (interestingly enough, their online ordering system works very well) with lunch specials from 11-3 and daily specials to go along with them. Would recommend to anyone!

We used to LOVE El Comal! But the last three times we have gone have been terrible. We thought the last two times, we just caught them on off nights. But tonight was the last straw. We ordered 3 carnitas plates for carry out. The meat was SO DRY and HARD! The lettuce was brown and slimy. I ended up just eating the rice, and throwing the whole rest of the plate away. It sucks because this was our go to restaurant to eat at when I didnt feel like cooking.

They are very quick with their lunch menu. We usually show up in a group every Friday for fajitas and leave happy. I would like to see them put a little more meat in their fajitas. The pan seems a little bare on the amount of food, even for lunch. Also, they need to heat their skillets more, the fajitas rarely show up to the table still sizzling. They are very responsive to bring more chips and salsa for our table which is always needed.

We moved here from San Diego where the Mexican food is always delicious but El Comal is right up there with all the best Mexican restaurants in southern California if not better. The veggie fajitas are AMAZING and my 2 year old finished her entire quesadilla plus refried beans and still ate off our plates! We will definitely make this one of our go-to restaurants.

Horrible service. The owner/manager is disrespectful and unprofessional. We found a hair in our food and he said that we brought it from home, claiming that nobody who worked there had hair of that same length. He didnt want to take it from the bill nor give me another dish... He was so rude about it that it was intimidating! Never coming back to this place.

Wasnt impressed overall. We ordered tacos, tried all 3 types and didnt care for the flavor of the meat in any of them. Had it tasted good, we would have wanted to have more meat in the tacos...skimpy portions. Fajitas were better. Staff was friendly and attentive. We didnt try alcohol beverages.

I dont normally do reviews, but El Comals is one place everyone should know about. You have the option of sitting inside our outside, the staff has always been great. Ive only been there a few times and loved everything I have ordered. Just try the Guacamole Salad and see. Mmmm, Mmmm!
