I used to work here as a server so I feel I can give you an insiders review. Cucos has THE BEST CHIPS and SALSA in the USA HANDS DOWN! Both are made fresh daily in house. The chips are made before the lunch crowd arrives and kept warm in a large warmer. The salsa has large chunks of fresh bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions. I love it because no other restaurant has chunky salsa like Cucos. Ive had EVERYTHING ON THE MENU at least 5 times but my favorite is the sour cream chicken enchiladas. They are to die for! After a long shift I usually would get the steak which is served on a fajita skillet with sauteed onions and your choice of rice and beans, or fries. I always get the Chipotle sauce to go with my steak, its great together! As far as appetizers, the sampler platter is what I recommend because you get a sample of just about every appetizer on one plate. The chicken nachos and macho nachos are off the chain as well. My wife usually begged me to bring home an order of chicken nachos after every shift. Theyre her favorite. For kids, my son whos 9 now loves the chicken fingers and theyre really good, Ive had them myself many times and the honey mustard they Cucos has is awesome too. Thats a big deal to me if Im getting chicken fingers you must have awesome honey mustard. Its so good I usually eat my fries and several other items with it as well. For dessert you must try the fried ice cream and the sopapillas. I highly recommend Cucos Mexican Cafe if youre in the Montgomery area. Oscar the owner is a very nice man thats been so awesome to me and my family.

Regulars at Cocos since they first opened 20+ yrs ago on Eastern Blvd. Really miss this location as Chantilly & now Downtown are not very convenient... but we still go about once or maybe twice a month. Absolutely love THEIR thin & crispy chips with THEIR homemade chunky salsa that is not mind blowing hot. Has a great taste. Their menu is different being they are considered Tex-Mex. You MUST get something that has what we call brown gravy on it. The their nachos are delicious and done individual instead of piled high. The staff has always been friendly, remember the regulars, & rarely a turn over.. which speaks well of owner/mgt. Only thing that aggravated me & its not just this Mexican restaurant is being charged for it sour cream or extra sour cream when its barely a tablespoon. Sour cream isnt expensive at grocery store and the restaurants buy in bulk. Come on folks youre making a fortune on the drinks like Coke & tea. In the past theyve had nightly & kid specials. Not really sure if they still do this. I hope you will enjoy it as much as my family has over the years& if so tell others. Thats how we got hooked on Cucos.

The food was, on all accounts, very average to downright bad. The salsa tastes of tomato paste and is beyond bland. I believe the cheese dip was jarred before being heated and brought to the table. Heck, even the sweet tea wasnt very good. This is the south, and when I order sweet tea, I expect it to be more than a shade above un-sweet. The food was laughable, honestly. I had the shrimp enchiladas and they werent pleasant. The rice and beans were alien in color and the rice in particular tasted like spaghetti-os. Very strange. There are many better options in Montgomery if you like mexican food. Los Cabos off of Eastern Blvd is great. The one star review does not reflect the staff, however. They were very friendly and efficient. The reviewer above, Nick, really hit the nail on the head when he said that this place has never been touched by Mexican culture. Im not even convinced its been touched by HUMAN culture at this point.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in this area. Salsa is always excellent. It taste like it is made with all fresh ingredients. A bit chunky, but worth it. Chips are nice and thin. Beef is seasoned differently than most of the local places, and has a fresher, peppery flavor. Same with the black beans with cheese. The cheese is a better taste, and my family could make a meal off the rice alone! Lovin Cucos.

The atmosphere is always so serene. I love the Hispanic music they play. Service is amazing. My favorite are the magaritas of course. The salsa is delicious not to spicy. And the tortilla chips are perfection. My other favorite item is the queso dip with the beef added. The location is perfect. You are away from all the Montgomery traffic.

Love eating at this restaurant, but it is hidden off next to some trees that block from seeing it. Lose the trees and you can see it. Put that on your bucket list, Cucos. As for the management, wait and kitchen staff, they are awesome, as well as the food that is brought to the table. Definitely coming back here.

My experience here at Cucos was awesome. My hostess was charming and pleasant, her name was Demise . I was greeted promptly and the wait time was about 5 minutes. The food was amazing and I cant wait to bring my family back again. I give you all at Cucos an A+ rating. I Love This Place.........

I love cucos and our server he was so awesome I personally gave him a 5 dollar tip in his hand not leave it on the table for somebody to walk by and snatch up. He was so nice. Pur food was fresh, hot, and ready to go. Did not take forever either. I will always stop here.

Appearance of the restaurant seems a little under kept, the restaurant seems to be TexMex which if you are like me you enjoy authenticity along with good cultural cuisine. Service was not bad but you can tell that Mexican culture has not touched this food.

The most important in any Mexican restaurant are the welcome and the nachos...! The welcome was Ok, but the nachos and the salsa not Ok. the Salsa was cold, direct from the refrigerator and tasteless. Not a friendly welcome. The rest just average.

Good service. I had a vegetarian black bean burito and I was sick the following. I thought it was just me but the person I went with was sick from a upset stomach also. Well at least the food was good. And the prices were reasonable

This is the best little Mexican place on the east side of Montgomery. In my opinion they have the best chips and salsa!! Very thin, crispy chips and chunky salsa. Not a lot of parking, so get there early!

The food was good, but our server sucked. She acted as if it caused her pain to come to our table. She never smiled and we had to ask more than once for items we should have already had, like napkins.

We had a group of 7 people, and the only thing anyone liked were the chicken strips on the kids menu. The only upside was that our waiter was very nice.
