Carnation Buffet
How can Carnation Buffet offer such high quality food for such a low price? Even at peak hours -- last night, for instance, Sunday at dinnertime -- an adult price is just $11.99. Add a buck or two for tip and youre still getting the best deal in town. Not because you couldnt pay less for a burger or fried chicken, but because this is EXCELLENT QUALITY food. As already mentioned, metal chafing dishes have no place here: the ceramic platters are not only much classier but have to be replenished much more often than the covered metal keep-it-warm dishes would, so the food is much fresher. So fresh that the fried things (crab rangoon, be still my heart!) are crunchy. Crunchy, I tells ya! For a buffet, that is remarkable. There are also plenty of vegetables among the dishes, a rarity much appreciated by this Yelper and her hubby. Abundant broccoli tucked among the dishes, and its beautifully al dente. Again, for a buffet this is practically unheard of. Long story short, this is the perfect option for me and my husband: fresh and tasty food, lots of veg, great price, relaxed ambience, and I can get a sushi fix while he enjoys the hibachi. A real gem in Bessemer.

This place keeps getting worse. The last time I went, I swore I would never go back. I gave it one last chance today...wish I hadnt. Waste of money. Firstly, I thought they were CLOSED, since the lot looked horrible...and the grass and bushes were all over grown. I decided, that it was right at opening time (11am) I would give it another try. Half the items were not yet filled. Those that I tried, were sadly, disappointing. Some items Over cooked/Under seasoned....some items Under cooked/Over seasoned. Other items; the temps were off .... luke warm, not HOT....as you might expect, since they were just cooking the food and putting it out. Only TWO items I had were acceptable. The fried shrimp and the fried green beans. Not too hard to get them right, I guess. They always ask " Was everything ok ? " . I told them "No....it was not". They gave me $1 discount. Which, I was not worried about the price. There was also, water all over the floor area around the buffet. They had ONE wet floor sign out...as if that makes it all ok.....Needless to say; I WONT GO BACK !!!

If I could give them negative points I would. The service was awful and we were treated very bad. We took 2 basketball teams, parents, grandparents and a host of other relatives out for a night of fun they took pictures of us and counted us numerous times. As we began to leave they blocked the door and even put their hands on some of our children. They didnt give us a chance to pay. We sent the kids outside as a courtesy to keep down the noise. After we got upset about being disrespected by these racist they called the police on us only to be instructed they had to move aside. This was our first and last time eating here. This was so upsetting and we hate our children had to experience such racist people on what was supposed to be a fun outing while traveling from another state to play basketball.

The server was rude and his overall demeanor reflected he was biased toward African American women.This jerk should not be allowed to work in the public, and in my opinion negatively affects this business. My Son & I despite their low health rating of 73 decided to dine there but the level of poor service rendered to me today impacted my decision to patronize this business again. He was served his own karma when he dropped plates of food onto the floor and had to clean it up smh. Then he tried to pull some other non factor patrons into his defense. How he treated me is all that matters. I wish to not be judged by the color of my skin and treated fairly especially when spending my money.

I regret stopping by here..I was driving to Tennessee from Texas an saw the sign I thought it might be good when we walked in at 320pm first thing out their mouth was we charge dinner buffet prize ..then they walked us in sat us down we went to get some food an one off the supervisor standing just starring counting our plates an just looking on we wer eating an how many plates we got ..first food the food dint really have flavor second of just by the guy walking to out table an telling us what we could get not to get killed our vibe ...dont waste your time an stop by ..I really really regret stopping in killed my whole appetite. ..

We love this place! The people that work here are so wonderful and very nice. The food is always hot and fresh. The sushi is good depending on who makes it. I was looking through the comments and seen one pertaining to a basket ball team that was treated "bad". Lmao i was there when that happened and the children were literally screaming over our table to eachother and acting awful! The people that work there are not by any means racists!! If the cops get called obviously you did something wrong....

I rarely ever slam on a place, but this place was truly disgusting. The parking lot is in disrepair and overgrown with weeds with garbage everywhere. The Chinese part of the buffet was kind of slimy. I dont know how else to describe it. The few American things that they did have like chicken wings were fried so hard I literally could not bite through them. We were there less than 10 minutes, left two plates of partially eaten food and left before either one of us got sick. Stay away.

They have some really great recipes here and some really bad ones, with some stuff in between. Their fried rice is quite good compared to most other buffets, their black pepper chicken is amazing, sesame and general tso chicken is quite good when fresh. Their fried goods (crab wonton, egg rolls, etc) are on the underside of mediocre. Most of the waitstaff is attentive and friendly. Their to go box pricing is excellent.

I usually go here a lot when I want some sushi. Ive never had any bad experience with them. Im fact, Ive had some nice conversations with them after telling them "Hello" and "Thank you" in chinese. I think theyre wonderful people. The only reason they dont have 5 stars is because its a pretty small buffet, even with the choices (which arent bad if you ask me)

The waitress went out of her way NOT to serve us, after we went to get our food, she put Cokes on our table without asking us why we wanted, then ran up to the register and offered us a calendar and said "tip"...I took the calendar and did not give her a tip. She said something in her language and the cashier laughed! I will Never go again!

Its your standard Chinese buffet. The sushi was subpar and it came apart when I used the tongs. The Fried Chicken was surprisingly good. The female I was dining with grab the plate that was connected to a few other place plates via a stream of used gum. The waiter was super-duper nice. Overall it was a decent place.
