Went there with a group meeting a different group who already had a tab. Waitress was HORRIBLE, sat outside with her friends smoking most of the time. First group left and paid for what they thought they owed, waitress provided our group that was left with a barely legible tab and a calculator and was was told to figure it out. They dont split up bills, yet they take split payments. First group, basically screwed us because they couldnt figure out what was even on this barely legible handwritten tab. We ended up just leaving after unsuccessfully arguing the point. Beer selection was pretty LAME considering they brag about their selection. The Bier Garden in Portsmouth blows them away, as well as the PUB in Hampton. Will never go back to this establishment EVER, and would not recommend it to ANYONE. Oh and the food sucked too.

I second what Eric says. Great place, often times good beer specials, good wings. The only bummer is when they have a band they charge a $5 cover. First, that place is not big enough to have a band and still have people eating without getting their skulls rocked by the music. Second, $5 cover is so dumb if you intend to eat and have no desire for the music. They need to put the band upstairs and charge to go up there, let the patrons downstairs eat in peace. Cant tell you how many times Ive gone somewhere else just due to the $5 cover. Granted, its not much, but Im not paying a cover just so I can buy food.

Friends and I came here to have a light night out. We sat outside for 15 mins with no service. Then another customer yelled across us youre more likely to get service if you go to the bar. We couldnt even get eye contact from a server to acknowledge that we were here. So we moved to the bar. At the bar we were asked if we were served. We said no, then the guy from behind the bar motioned to another staff member to serve us. The staff member came over to serve us but then another staff member yelled at her that she was shutting our side of the bar down. Everything was unwelcoming. Wont be returning.

The service was great but the food was yuck. At least what I had was yuck. I tried the faux chicken sandwich also known as the chickette with fries. The sandwich was dry and tasteless and the fries were blah. The sandwich patty taste like dog food and this is coming from a long-time vegan! This is disappointing since I heard the chickette was a must-try. By the way, there is nothing fried about that sandwich. I make faux fried chicken at home which could surpass this sandwich on its worst day. Just saying. Vegans may want to keep it pushing.

The Taphouse could be the best place in Norfolk to get great beer and some pub grub but the horrible service makes the place average. The front of the house needs some basic training and perhaps the manager needs to work on scheduling issues. Last night we had to walk out after sitting at our table for at least a half an hour without a menu or a word from the wait staff. What really frosted me was watching the staff chatting by the bar while we were treated as an inconvenience. BTW the bathrooms need a good scrub.

Knowledgeable & friendly bartenders, great beer & spirit selection. The Tap House has a very cool atmosphere, always filled with friendly and engaging patrons. They have quality bands play almost every friday & saturday. The music can get loud, but the outdoor patio is an excellent alternative in good weather. Yes, there is a $5 cover on occasion but the money usually all goes to the band. Layover venues like The Tap House are extremely helpful to road bands in between gigs.

A lot of people dont know that the food is actually really good here, they just figure its a good place to go for a large beer selection. The beer prices have gone up a little in the past year or so, or they just stopped selling as many $5 drafts. Still one of the best selections of beer around with a very knowledgeable staff. They do a good job bringing in live music and really featuring a variety of artists.

Screaming and distortion cant be considered music...without a website to post the music (in this case noise) schedule for each day, a lot of people will have the same horrible surprise that we had... honestly had no idea if there was a cat dieing next to the mic, or if someone spilled beer at the amplifier... luckly the girl running the bar was reasonable enough to get us our 5 dollars back for the entrance...

Amazing food, friendly staff, and the cherry on top: great beer and lots to choose from. 22 beers on tap and plenty more in bottles. I really enjoyed the food, they certainly know how a burger is supposed to taste and the fries were delicious. My many compliments to the chef, I wish burgers were this good in Fayetteville! This place is a true gem.

Divey and loud, decent service bar with bar food. Some veggie-meat options. Binch of beers on tap. Nothing decent to drink for nondrinkers, only Pepsi products. I had water and nachos. Nacho plate was huge, tasty. The poo in ball machine was broken. They did have a backgammon board, so that was fun. Patio space for smokers. Decent brunch

I have been going to Tap House for over half my life, even when I was underage. No I couldnt drink there then but I would go to shows, eat, and play pool. I still hang here and go to shows/eat/drink. I love it. They have plenty of beer and the food is decent. Staff is always cool. Just watch out for those bathrooms, haha.

I think that it is awesome when a bartender remembers you and what you drink even when you dont get out very often. First time we went here was on a bar tour. Now we know where to get a great Long Island Tea and listen to some bands. Even though we are a bit older than the normal crowd we feel comfortable here.

Beer is more expensive than the public house. The bar tender was drunk and he had an attitude and a big mouth. A girl have him a five a me he grabbed the bill and three it back at her. U was only there because everywhere else was closed.

Local hangout with a decent menu of eats. The salad was big. The blackened salmon wrap was delicious. Plenty of seats inside and out. Pool tables and a good beer selection. Horrible bathrooms.

Had the bacon cheese burger. It was cooked just right, very tasty. The beer selection was great. Service not as much. Not bad but even if you are at a table you had to go to the bar to order.

Great place for some quick beers. We were there at about 4:30 so it was quite empty. The bartender (Parker?) was friendly and gave us some tips on the town. We didnt have any food.

St Patricks Day 2011, Taphouse had a great Corned Beef special and the service was awesome! After reading some of the reviews, I was skeptical of going, but pleasantly surprised!
