Ive been an occasional customer at Kabobi since it opened, replacing K2 Kabob (which I didnt much care for). Obviously their specialty is their kabobs, of which they have the standard chicken, lamb and ground beef. Ive not tried the beef, but both the chicken and lamb are simply delicious. Occasionally the lamb kabob can be a bit dry, but usually they are perfect. I dont know if they use a tandoor, but the kabobs have those wonderful crusty edges that makes real tandoori chicken great. The kabobs come with a large pile of really excellent basmati rice. The default is a fairly simple cumin/ghee(?) rice, which I swear I could make a meal of by itself. If you want more flavor, you can upgrade to kabuli (?) rice, caramelized with raisins, almonds and carrot slivers. I personally was not really impressed with the kabuli rice, though my wife loves it. Other than the kabobs, their dal is really excellent, and I have also greatly enjoyed several other dishes that I cant remember the names of. Of course they also offer complimentary chai, it can be really hot btw, so be careful. The atmosphere isnt all that interesting, but its comfortable enough. The wait staff has always been friendly, and its not particularly pricey ($10-$13 for most entrees).

Now the craving for Indian food is hard to resist when you are an Indian and havent had one in like 4 days though your gut feeling says that nothing can beat them than what u get in Cali Bay Area, but hey after all we need to know how Portland is handling curry ! So we headed over to this place to grab a to go for dinner. Pro : 1: This place is at a prime spot. 2: Appetizers are 3 stars specially the chicken dishes. Cons: 1: Customer service is not good. 2: when asked for complimentary papad to go (available for dine in) the sever states Budget issue, how lame ? 3: Curry was made "very" spicy though we asked for spicy. 4: Naan was not soft and became harder in an hr. 5: pretty expensive for the quantity given. Conclusion : If you are in the area craving Indian food and you have no car or means of transport this may be a good choice but if you do have one and with time in hand there are much better options out there.

This is a nice little restaurant, nothing fancy or chic, just good food. We have been to this restaurant once. We ordered mantoo, palau, samsa and other things I dont remember (we were 6). Food was very good. I am originally from Uzbekistan so i can say with surety that food was authentic, same as it is served in the region. I just feel that "pathetic" review down the list is not fair. Reviewer may have compared it to some fine Afghan restaurant which of course this is not. It is a small family owned restaurant with just 2 people working there when we were visiting. I wanted to visit the benchmark restaurant that is made reference to in the review but it is in Minnesota :) So odds are that this poor guy was briefly visiting from out of state and got duly welcomed by our generous portion of Portland rain. Unaccustomed, he wrote this review sheltering from the rain in his hotel room. Just a possibility :)

First off, I moved here from Corvallis, which I thought meant that Id be moving to foodie heaven. After at LEAST 6 or 7 mediocre to bad Indian places, we decided to try this one out. The food was AMAZING! Papadums and chutney were offered to us immediately after we ordered (no charge). I drink a lot of water, but over the course of dinner (~45 mins.), my glass went dry ONCE, just once and only for about 60 seconds. The dishes were exactly what we dreamt of in good Indian cuisine and they went out of their way to accommodate some of our more quirky requests (extra sauce, etc.). The naan was great, it was plentiful and dare I say it, free? I was floored when I got the bill, they didnt charge for the papadums or the naan :D. Needless to say we tipped VERY well >30% and they earned every penny of it. I believe I wont be going to any other Indian place in PDX. The bar has been set.

Almost all of my experience here was delightful. My server was perfect. She was friendly and prompt. The food was great. When I placed the payment on the table and got up to leave, I waited to make eye contact with my server to let her know I was leaving and to say thank you. I guess me hesitating to leave was suspicious and the owner thought I was going to take the money back and leave. I heard him tell another server that and they both stood nearby, watching me. I dont think business owners know how insulting it is to have this happen. Not only am I not being appreciated for choosing their business to spend my money at, but I get treated rudely and unfairly. It ruined the entire experience. I will not be returning.

I love Indian food. Do you want to know what I love almost more than Indian food ? BUFFETS. Dwararka has a daily lunch buffet for a few hours, and it is a steal. I love being able to sample everything, and have as much as my little tummy pleases. Their juices are amazing too ... the mango is ridiculous. I recommend trying the pakora; it is deep fried veggies of different kind, and though I am sure it is not the most healthy thing ever it is definitely tasty. Their chutneys are so amazing tasting, I just want to dip everything in them. I am sure there may be some better Indian, but the lunch buffet here makes it worth it.

I would give -5 ☆ rating for this hotel at Portland because the restaurant is completely empty and as soon as we stepped in, we have asked the person inside to change the seat and you know what the reply we got from him, there is a freaking policy that they dont give preference to customer choice. I dont really understand if that person is anp alien and directly landed from Mars. Definitely like to smack his freaking face but stepped out immediately. So, folks sincere suggestion, dont even bother to go to this cuisine at Portland, OR even if you are damn hungry and completely in food crisis.

This place happens to be just a couple of blocks from my house which Im excited about because I will be coming here often now! The food was GREAT. True authentic Indian food. And just as great was the service... our server happened to be the owner/chef and he was soo nice, so personable, so adorable. If hes offering his "special, secret" sweet naan whenever you go, order it. Its delicious. He also made menu suggestions, which we took him up on and when it came time for dessert we couldnt wait for him to recommend one. Either he makes great suggestions or all his food is wonderful.

Four of us just tried Dwaraka for dinner. We found the atmosphere very pleasant, the service truly excellent, but the food just average. I had the chicken saag, and my husband had the tandoori fish (mahi mahi) tikka. Both the chicken and his fish were kind of dried out, maybe overdone. The seasonings were not great. My spinach had a slight sweet taste in it that I had not tasted in saag dishes at the many other Indian restaurants Ive tried. Too bad, as these seem like very nice people, and the restaurant is pleasant -- not as noisy as many places are in Portland.
