The worst experience ever! Moreover they are real robbers! Firstly I must mention that I have been to this restaurant many times before and everything was great. However my last visit showed that it is not improving – it gets worse. My family came to visit me from Chicago last weekend. On Sunday we decided to go for a dinner and picked The View Restaurant in Marriott Hotel on Times Square as we wanted to have a great Manhattan view while enjoying the food. It was 7 of us. After we were seated the waiter said that she needs one of the cards as a deposit. I gave her my card. After she took our orders for drinks which we were waiting for nearly 40 minutes, plus one of the orders she massed up which is not a big deal but later it got worse. At the end she gave us our receipt which came up to $560.79, including $80.00 gratitude. One of my family members offered to pay and he gave the waiter his card. She charged his card and brought the receipt along with the card. When I asked where my card was, the waiter said that she already returned it to me. Nobody from our table saw her giving me my card back. I knew for sure that it didn’t happen but I decided to check my bag just in case and it was not there. Instead of receiving an apology, she started saying things like: “It probably somewhere in your bag”, “You probably lost it somewhere else”. I hate when they were trying to push it on me. I practically took everything out of my bag and pockets to show them that I don’t have a card. So they said that I probably lost it in the bathroom but during the dinner I didn’t even leave the table. We asked to speak with the manager hoping to get fair justice; however, we got the same answers and blames. They didn’t put any effort to try to remedy the situation. I asked them to check the cameras but they said they can’t do it. Of course I did call my bank to cancel the card. Now I have to wait more than a week to get a new one. It’s the card that I use on daily basis and it did put me in a great inconvenience for the next week. I couldn’t even pay for my cab because I didn’t have enough cash. During the cancellation representative from the bank said that the last activity on my card was for $100 security deposit from Marriott Hotel the View Restaurant which was fine because it was supposed to be returned after the bill is paid. After almost an hour long argument with management we left the place with disappointment and ruined evening. The next day I found out they put the same charges in the amount of $560.79 on my lost card and my cousin’s card. Now I have to spend precious time on disputing the charges. I haven’t seen such a customer service in my entire life. Totally unacceptable! The whole experience was just terrible! It is DEFINITELY NOT THE WAY a customer should be treated! Staff is lacking of professionalism and should be trained. I’d never go there again, not even recommend to my worst enemy.

Six of us just went to The View restaurant up top of the Mariott Marquis near Times Square for my moms birthday. First the good. The hotel is very nice and rich looking. The elevators are, like they say on their site, pretty cool and sleek looking. Special elevators take you all the way up to the restaurant. The ambiance and atmosphere of the lounge and restaurant are excellent. Really looks like a rich luxurious place, which youll feel most financially when you ask for the check. Anyway, like I said, the tables and ambiance as a whole are top notch. Additionally, the view out on to New York city is great, although you cant really see on to the streets since below the restaurant the building stretches out a little bit father than the windows, completely blocking a downward view. Youre just up there looking at the sides of NYC bulidings and the new jersey side of the hudson. Its still good though. BAD: Food and price We went to the buffet lounge which is one floor up from the restaurant. When you think buffets you think aisles of trays of food. Not here. Just a short table with two main dishes (baked chicken and some sort of beef ribs or something) and a bunch of unique looking salads and like 5 toppings for the salads. Also pasta with marinara and about 5 toppings for the pasta. Food isnt that good. Most of the items there are COLD, and if they arent cold, they get cold pretty fast. Most of the desserts looked like they came out of sams club except crackers and cheese looked pretty high quality. Also chocoloate fondu was a plus. Price: The buffet is supposedly about $33 per person base. Im saying base like you go to buy a car thinking about the "BASE" price but then you end up paying 2 grand more in taxes and crazy dealer fees and interest. For six people, total was $344.Each drink is $6. Our "cover charge" (for being there till after 8) was $44. Gratuity was $48 (for 6+ people its automatic 18%) I know for such a unique experience and location that it aught to be very expensive. It was just the cover charge and drink prices that threw me off at the end. But I guess with a rotating platform dining room 48 stories in the sky, 80% of your payment is for the experience rather than the food.

I was almost kicked out of the entrance, from one of the staff tonight. I got there on the way back to my room; to confirm the closing time (listed 1.30am in trip advisor, 1am in the hotel guidebook) so that I can take my wife and boys after checking the availiability. The staff told me that it is 12, and cannot let me in (it was around 12). Well.. it is OK, I stay two more nights and I could go there tommorrow if I have to. What really surprised me was that she then, WHEN I DID NOT ASK, told me that "I cannot let you take a look inside". I told her that I understand.. yet can I take a look of the menu. She told me to check it at 3rd floor.. AND THEN URGED ME to take the elevator right away!!, holding the button of the elevator when there were other passangers in the elevator. I refused to go down, telling that I have more questions, will take the elevator whenever I want to. Rolling her eyes she told me again.. To my surprise.. "I will not let you take a look inside". Hey, I have never, ever, asked her that favor... I again told her that I know, and I understand,. I left the lobby after talking to the other staff to get an answer for the options for drinks and buffet (this staff was nice), but I feel seriously ignored by the first staff. NO SURPRISE that there ars so many reviews regarding ARROGANT STAFFS in this restaurant. My good experiences with Marriott Marquis are now all ruined by their... arrogant View Restaurant. Not to get ignored there, you will need to study hard about their menu and closing hours etc.. since they do not have their menu in 48fl, and they will change their closing hours depending on their conveniences without notices, irrespectivley of the listings in hotel guidebooks or tripadvisor. Most of all, dont ever ask them if you can take a look inside.. then you will be treated as a F- A-. If you decide not to ask, still prepared to confirm, at least twice, that you dont want to see inside. Its a "View" restaurant, you need to pay seriously, and be obedient to staffs, to get the "Look".
