Lets get straight to the point. It was one of the worst and most frustrating experience that we have ever had in a restaurant/diner: - AWFUL SERVICE - LONG WAIT - it took more than a hour to get our main courses - WRONG ORDER - My food had cheese despite asking for no cheese. - Food was just "OK" and EXPENSIVE for a diner We walked by this place two years ago when we first moved to NYC and we tried to get a table but it was too crowded so we decided to come back another time. Two years later, the week before Christmas, we decided to try again. It was meant to be a nice relaxing brunch, instead it ended up being a disaster. When we arrived around 2pm there were no tables available so we waited outside for a while. Eventually we got a table and we placed our order and thats when the troubles begin! We ordered the black and white milkshake (with malt), the split pea soup, the Brooklyn Diner burger and the Vermont egg whites omelet which I EXPLICITLY asked if it would be possible to have without cheese. The waiter wasn’t sure but was kind enough to check and confirm that it was no problem and so the order was placed with no cheese. The shake and the soup came after 10 mins. The waiter apologized because it took so long for the shake. The soup was good and the milkshake was tasty, but turns out it was made with powder which had amassed on the bottom of the glass. Not very nice! We then got very excited about the main courses, not imagining that the shake and soup were all we were going to get for the next hour or so! In fact, we kept waiting and waiting .. after 40 minutes , the waiter came to us claiming that our food was being plated and would be out in a minute. This was already the second or third time he came over to say our food was be out shortly and apologize. We never asked and were being patient. Actually, he said that my omelette was ready and that the burger was going to be plated (which does not fit with what he told us later). Time went by and after another 30-40 minutes, during which nobody bothered to let us know what the issue was, the waiter came again to talk to us. He admitted that he was not sure what the problem was with the kitchen and that he had involved the manager because he said they are not allowed to speak directly with kitchen staff. Apparently, they NEVER MADE MY OMELETTE in all that time. At that very moment, a female Manager arrived with our food, basically threw our food on the table and left; no explanations, no apologies, nothing! After the waiter said he involved the Manager, a Manager never came to us to explain or apologize. Mind you, we never complained the whole time or asked to speak to anyone. The food was actually NOT very good, the burger was OK, just super greasy and guess what? Plenty of FETA in my omelette. Note: I blame the kitchen for it and not the waiter who wrote my request down correctly! At that point we were beyond disappointed. Nevertheless, we paid the bill and properly tipped the waiter. He could have handled things better but overall it wasn’t his fault and I felt bad for him. After we paid we asked to talk to the Manager, which by then had changed. We informed the new manager of our horrible experience and he kindly apologized. We wanted to find out what happened and why the previous manager, being aware of the issue, whatever it was, never came to us to apologize and give us an explanation. Unfortunately, that remains a mystery!

Sunday 5 March here eaten, good seat, nice good control with of course the refill, food was reasonable and very expensive .... but thats all in New York. A few days later, very unfriendly lady that you put your seat post clamp, with a wobbly table, waiters who walked along behind you and then a tray in your neck or back pounded, with much trouble another place, Burger was burnt, all in all, not best but a tipsuggestie on the Bill giving 18% on a bill of $49 ,-.......... sorry John ... it were $3.

Waiter barely had time to take the order, and therefore got it incorrect...my request was simple: no mushrooms; nothing complicated. Oddly, they were not that busy, so didnt anticipate the difficulties that simple request would cause. Those seated next to us got their breakfast well before us (almost a half hour). I asked the waiter what was going on and was told 3 times "let me just check." Finally when my order came out...half the order (the polenta side) wasnt with it, instead were french fries, which I never ordered. I asked..they took my plate back to the kitchen, and took the fries off. My polenta arrived 5 minutes later. Halfway through my eggs, i found the mushrooms, which had been buried under a pile of greens (half the eggs were hidden on my plate under these greens). I told the waiter..who said "no there arent mushrooms" and i showed them to him. He took the plate back to the kitchen; it never returned, nor did my breakfast. The city is so full of amazing diners, where youll get great service...and even better food...Id have been more forgiving of the mistake if the food (or service) had been stellar..neither is true. I say skip it, and walk a few blocks to find a better diner.

Weitere Pluspunkte: - Aufmerksames Personal - Stoffservietten - moderate Preise für New Yorker Verhältnisse - leckere NY-Desserts, insb. Kuchen

I had to think for a minute if 3 or 2 stars. First of all, the main problems. It only opens at 7am, so no idea why it is called a diner. The breakfast options are minimal, and the prices are insane. The quality difference of ihops or dennys is the same, the only thing that strikes out is the beautiful decoration inside which is a big plus. Service was just as in any other diner, fast and not too kind but not insulting either, you are just a number in there with other words. The food quality was like I mentioned, not worth the price at all and just a few options to choose from. The market diner down in hells kitchen is much better for 3x cheaper and the food quality wise is on the same level. Perhaps if the price range would have been normal, it would have gotten 3 stars, but 25 usd for one person with no orange juice, is simply too much, oh, if you want an orange juice for 2 persons, then add another 14 usd to your bill, the reason we did not take any, 7 usd for an orange juice in a diner is simply not normal and is false advertisement in my opinion. The good was the decoration inside as I mentioned and the restaurant was very clean.
