I read some Yelp reviews on this place and the biggest gripe was on the service. After going there I feel like those reviewers are assholes because they have a "Hiring" sign out front and obviously dont have enough staff to cover it all at the moment. But at least they are trying. The wait really wasnt that bad considering the lack of staff (probably about 20-25 minutes after ordering), but if youre looking to get fed quickly this may not be the place for you. I went for brunch and the food was very good. Id say this is a keen example of, "If you start with good ingredients, you dont have to try that hard." My Bloody Mary was very good with a little kick. Dobhan describes itself as Indian/Nepali food, but for brunch I would say its a pretty international menu with American, Mexican, and Indian dishes. I had the Chili Rancheros and was very happy.

As a mid range restaurant fan who previously worked in a very successful high end steakhouse, I was really delighted. The service was the best Ive had in Madison and matches any mid price range Ive had anywhere. Good timing, he knew the food well. and was able to handle two peoples two different food restrictions. He even knew how to deal with our two year old! The food was beyond way expectations for the price. My coworker recommended the dal and Im glad I did it. Im generally not a fan of large menus with many many things, but somehow theirs works! Ill be going back. P.S. I read the review, "Vegans Beware!" before going and was worried because we had dairy and wheat restrictions in our party. Im glad to report it was NOT an issue with the menu or service in our experience. Very knowledgeable in fact!

Went to brunch with 2 friends. Waitress wiped her nose on the side of her hand before putting our drinks down. The next time she walked past she sneezed into her elbow twice. When she returned with more coffee, my friend asked her if she had washed her hands. The waitress got defensive, said she sneezed into her elbow, not her hands, and then under her breath called her a b**** (I edited this for content. Sadly, the waitress did not edit herself). The food will never make up for the train wreck that is the service

My favorite restaurant in Madison. I purposely tried to order a type of food here that I do not like anywhere else, just to see if I would like Dobhans version, and even that was awesome! My favorite is the Salmon and mashed potatoes, with dahl soup, and the hummus and carrot spread with flatbread appetizer. Ive tried almost everything on the menu. Its all amazing, creative, high end food for affordable prices. The owner is a food artist.

The one place everyone in our family is happy to go too. Food is top notch with lots of variety. My husband loves the Saag--veggie meal of black beans and spinach with lovely seasoning-and I love the Lamb shish kabob or several of the small meals. the small meals are perfect portions for a reasonable dinner and a great value. Brunch is excellent too and I guess folks must not know how good it is as you can still get seating on Sundays.

The food was carefully prepared and close to authentic. Nice display of wall art and stand-alone artifacts. The place was clean and the bathroom included an upscale sink. The wait staff was nice, but not professional. They allowed us in a few minutes before the dinner opening time -- that was nice of them. Overall, a pleasant experience and good food.

After living in Chicago for the last ten years and moving to Madison just three months ago, I think this is one of the best restaurants in Madison. The food is always incredible and super fresh. I always get the Norwegian salmon, but the Indonesian dishes are delicious and Im always impressed with the consistency and friendliness of the staff.

Top notch decor, one of the more authentic decors Ive seen in Madison. The food is true to the cuisine and tasty in its own right. I was disappointed with the plated quantity though. Service could be better, they are highly under staffed. Definitely a place to try if you havent already.

Such a delightful atmosphere. Every time I have been here the food is unbelievably tasty! I always leave super satisfied. It is not a place to come if you are in a hurry for a meal, it a place to come, relax and take your time to savor the food and atmosphere!

Great service and staff... always been treated very well and have been helped quickly. And, obviously, the food has consistently been very good and fresh every time we go (now an every other week event). Highly recommend checking out this cozy restaurant!

Dobhan is a fantastic restaurant. Its the only place to go for Nepali food in Madison. You know it is good because the menu is not flooded with filler dishes, but instead consists of unique dishes done really well. Definitely give it a shot.

So the service was a little slow and the appetizer my wife ordered had some still frozen potato in it but the shrimp curry I ordered was so fantastic it would be criminal to give this place anything but a five

Best Nepali food in Madison. Chef and owner is a creative genius who has cooked Nepali food for decades, formerly at Cha Tara on state street. Now he is trying out fusion dishes at Dobhan. Good eats!

Went with a few people and all the dishes seemed to have the same bland over-cooked steamed veg medley, I was very underwhelmed. Suffers from a bland sameness. Been here a few times, dont see the appeal.

Service may be a little slow but the food is absolutely worth the wait. Brunch is amazing - the only place Ive found cold smoked salmon eggs benedict and the lamb hash is spectacular.

The Lamb Kebobs were very good and the portion size was perfect for one. The food was tasty but a bit pricier in my opinion. The establishment is clean and our server was attentive.

One of my favorite restaurants! Flavors are great and always fresh veggies with entrees! Try the mojitos! Theyre made with fresh mint from the backyard! Love this place.
