Typical but nice Mexican style restaurant. They provide a wide variety of choices as their menu is packed full of different dishes, including enmoladas! Chips and salsa or creamy hot cheese queso with a jumbo margarita topped off with tacos al carbon or chicken and beef fajitas and youre set! Call-in orders are quick too - so as soon as you call youll need to leave the house and be there within 10 minutes. If youre going to pickup your order just walk to the back and sit at the bar - thats where your to-go order will arrive. There is usually a guy that is always working the bar and you can tell he is super busy - he may seem a little rude or distant but hes just excessively busy and if you pay attention youll notice why. Hes taking call-in orders, making margaritas, mixed drinks, going to the kitchen to bag your to-go order while servers are just standing around dependent on him to make their drinks. I guess they could help too or maybe its a hierarchical thing or something but there seems to be a little stress back there. Huevos fritos! Still excellent food!

The food that I ordered was good although I did not receive it the way that I requested. The decor is beautiful. I honestly disliked the experience especially from hearing so much noise coming from the kitchen. There was way to much yelling. It was annoying and I was not able to relax and enjoy my meal. I visited at 11:00 a.m. when the restaurant had just opened. I was the first customer. Hoping to be in a more quiet and enjoyable environment. I do not recommend it.

Had a server that severely sucked... love the place and food, however our server Jose Mat was not up to par from past visits. Very short with us, got our order wrong, and when it came to pay; he just gave us a little piece of paper and snatched the card we were using. Sorry El Porton! But we will be back, just will not be served by said server.

8pm on a Friday night, the place was packed. At one point, 6 employees were sitting in the waiting area on their phone, including our server. Our order was wrong so I got the attention of another employee. He got the attention of our waitress (who was sitting and on her phone), she looked at me and did nothing. Numerous other incidents...

Use caution when ordering from the bar. I ordered one margarita with rocks, salt, and sauza hornitos and was charged $16. Complained to the waiter and manager when the check came and was told the price was legitimate. Seems excessive to me. Food was OK, but nothing special. Wont be back.

Some of the Greatest food and service youll ever get. I have been going to El Porton Collierville since it first opened and Germantowns 5 years before. The Waiters and waitresses are Great (Especially Omar, Jose and Megan). El Porton has some of the best Chicken and Fajitas you will enjoy!!!

Sadly, I think the salsa served was Pace Picante! And the chips were definitely not made in house. I ordered the Speedy Gonzalez - one enchilada, one taco, and rice or beans. Enchilada was decent, taco okay, beans were disgusting. I wont be back. :( Better off going to Taco Bell.

Nice atmosphere, good food and margaritas. Bad waiters!!! We have been there 3 times now and it seems we get a weak server every time. It could be a top notch place with just a little better supervision of the servers. Poor service kills the evening!!!

Our family of 4 has been eating here for last 3 years. A regular spot 3+ times a month. It is good and consistant, staff is friendly and food is much better than places in Collierville. We never have to wait long and food comes out hot.

Favorite Mexican place in Collierville. My favorite item on the menu right now is the taco plate with charro beans and rice. The Charro bean soup is the right amount of spicy and savory. My favorite taco is the al pastor.

No stars. I actually saw them putting chips from a table who had left back in the kitchen bin of chips. After complaining to the manager he said they have been working on better service. Pass, this place is disgusting.

The best thing on the menu to me is the la poblano steak its made with real skirt steak not the "wonder what this is steak". If you havent tried it do so I hope you like it as much as I do
