I was on my way from Minneapolis to Madison with my wife, mother, brother, aunt and a friend when we stopped by here. After waiting for an hour and the food is still not there I decided that Id leave a four star review cause everything else was great. The server (Adam) was very kind and professional and he hinted that it would be a little bit of a wait for the pizza. The manager stopped by at some point and checked on us, we said everything was great. My brother made the mistake of ordering a desert. After 15 mins he asked Adam politely does it take 15 mins for an already made dessert? Anyway the dessert showed up after taking about 20 mins. Gave the server my credit card to pay. At this point we had been in there for approximately 2 hours. The manager, I think his name was Michael, walked by so my wife called him and said kindly: "I just wanna bring to share with you that the service was really slow". Manager: " well, the school just opened and we are getting a lot of freshmen, not making excuses for the cook line staff, but we have been very busy". My wife: "the place is at about 50% capacity and he have been here for about 2 hours". Manager: "we were busy before". Server brought my receipt at this point, so I grabbed it from Adam and noticed that the manager was gone. He said his sentence as he was walking away. Still, tipped Adam $20 cause he was great. But the managers behavior is what made me decide on this one star review. I cant believe companies still fail to hire managers who dont have polite behavior basics. This is a manager, at what level do you care about choosing your staff carefully. Please, do not reach out to me with any of your stupid gift cards to make up for it. We shared our complaint with the manager after we paid and werent looking for anything in return. Your gift card will add to the insult. I own a restaurant and love restaurants and dining out. I own other retail shops and have a wholesale business. My wife has a PHD from the U of MN and teaches there. I could buy you Michael and your restaurant with paper cash so save your gift card. All I will say is that Im sorry I came in and gave you the opportunity to walk out on me and paid you $100+ to do that. Shouldve gone to Perkins, Applebees or TGI Friday.

Very good burgers! Their Bruschetta appetizer if VERY good! Weve been here a number of times and usually have good service. Today (5/12/13) we went for dinner and had a very "interesting" dining experience. We ordered one of their deep dish pizzas to try for the first time. We wont do that again. Although it tasted good, we had a terrible time serving it. It was not cut through entirely so the whole pizza would come out. We didnt even have silverware to complete the slicing process. When we did ask for silverware, the server forgot to bring it and we had to ask again (In all fairness, it was not our original server). When our server finally came back to ask "how is your pizza?"...we told her we just got it out of the pan! When my wife was done eating, a manager looking gentleman came by and asked how the pizza was...we just stated it was good. My wife asked (the manager person) for a to-go box. It never arrived. She had to ask our original server a second time. When our server brought me a refill for my drink (regular ice tea) I added one packet of sugar like I usually do. When I took a sip I realized it was an already sweetened flavored ice tea! Now it was extra sweet. I did not drink it. Hopefully, this experience was the exception and not an indication of how it will begin to be...

Perhaps the worst pizza I have ever had - rivaling under cooked frozen pizza. Bad undercooked frozen pizza. I appreciate food based on price paid. $1 for a frozen pizza - doesnt have to be very good to be acceptable. $22 for a pizza (plus drinks and tip $36) it should be pretty good - in fact, it should be the best in the city. The order - One large, classic crust, spinach and garlic, portabella mushroom and prosciutto pizza (plus mango push up slushie and a Sam Adams Summer Ale) The good - the mushrooms were fresh, the prosciutto was a decent size and taste The bad - everything else, especially the crust. Pizza all depends on the crust - and I like all types - deep dish, New York style, crisp, whatever. But I want what I ordered. In this case, the classic crust - advertised as a "cracker", i.e. crispy crust, it came soft, bland and floppy. The only way to eat it was with a knife and fork, or New York style. Which is fine, IFt it tastes good and IF its what I ordered - Also - the spinach garlic mix - Frozen spinach thawed and someone whispers garlic over it? JUST SAY NO! For $36 i expect fresh spinach, chopped and sauteed with garlic. Overall, this dining experience is an F. Not recommended.

Our server, Brad, was condescending and arrogant from the begining. He was loud and pushy. He rested his face and arms on the table while answering questions about the menu. I felt this was rude and not sanitary. Also when we tried to get his attention with a polite hand in the hair and an "excuse me" he spun toward us, pointed his finger at us and snapped "I see you!" and turned back around. All we needed was a glass of water. During our dinner he asked if we needed anything else and a member of our party ordered a glass of pinot grigio. When looking at the bill we saw that single glass of wine was $9. He didnt offer a choice as which brand or price point we wanted. When we asked him about it he stared blankly at us and threw his hands in the air and stuttered "thats what it cost." I will not be looking forward to another visit at the Green Mill. Throughout our whole dining experience he had an attitude which made it very unpleasant to ask for things or interact with him.

4/30/2011 Took our in-laws out for birthday breakfast. Our waiter appeared pleasant but not quite wide awake yet. The breakfast turned out the worst Ive had. Two of the meals were completely missing ingredients listed in the menu, like bacon, tomato and green pepper. When the waiter was told, he came back and said the chef looked like a "deer in the headlights" when he mentioned the missing ingredients. When the bacon finally came, we found we were charged extra for it on the bill. Clearly neither the chef nor the waiter were familiar with the breakfast menu and what should be on each plate. The Eggery Tortilla was so dry and bad, of course, no tomato or green pepper, that I wouldnt have brought it home for the dog. And the clincher was, as we were getting up to leave, the waiter offered to bring out some green pepper. As a side note, we had supper there last evening and had great service and food. Go figure.

First time ever coming here. Thanksgiving of this year. There was 2 customers here!!! 2!!!! Then my husband and I walked in. So that makes 4. We were told to have a seat anywhere. It took 20 minutes for someone to come give us menus. Another 15 minutes later she came and took our drink order. If I wouldnt have stopped her to give our food order I dont know when she would have come back for it. Ordered appetizers and took 15 minutes for onion rings and a salad. Got 10 onion rings. And they werent big either. I can see the kitchen from my seat and the cook has repeatedly put food in the microwave!! And he has a full beard and no beard hair net!!!!!!! I have seen many people walk in from outside and go right in the kitchen and touching everything without washing hands. This is the last time I will ever be coming here. Needs a complete staff switch. Could be a nice place but seems no effort is put in to anything.
