Had breakfast, amazing potato pancakes and strawberry jam!!!! Had all our orders correct and in good time. The facilities have a lot to be desired especially the restrooms but the small greasy diners always come through. Service was amazing. Friendly and there when you need and want them! We all had custom orders and the waitress and cook got it right!!!! Best of all knew what we were talking about when we ordered! People complaining about greasy, you obviously are in the wrong restaurant. This is a small hometown diner that is supposed to be this way. Please move on to Panera!

Said potatoes were real and they smelt like old cardboard, chicken was supposed to be fried and was tougher than dog jerky, gravy was cold from jar, Gerber makes more appealing veggies, hamburger tasteless and fried tastes like old oil and waitress was definition of slow. Glad I didnt order chilli. If I hear reports of new cook she better food Id try again. Until then, one of the top 5 grossest meals.

Doesnt get any better breakfast. I really like the cabinet in the middle of the room where they bring out the fresh & still warm homemade pies for display waiting for you to order a piece. Places like this, very hometown stuff, disappeared in the western suburbs of Chicago long ago. Nice to find a good home cooking place like Cecil Diner. I also get a "diner" coffee mug every time Im there.

I have been a customer for 32 years. It is a small town diner. Potato pancakes are awesome as is everything else. The food has changed little except for the addition of some Mexican dishes which are excellent. There is nowhere faster for getting your food and all of the wait staff are hard working friendly girls. If you want a small town diner experience this is it.

I dont know why the other reviews have this place as low stars. Every summer I come up to go camping at Laura Lake and we always stop here for breakfast. I have NEVER had bad service or bad food. The breakfast is always amazing and I will never stop coming here or recommending it to my friends or anyone else who may be passing by the area.

Over deep fried. Meat seemed like it was frozen and defrosted in microwave before cooked. Got sick from Philly steak and friend sick from hamburger. Dont go
