Pretty good experience, mostly saved by our waitress Barbara. Walked in and went to the bar area to be seated, and was stared at by one waitress who provided no greeting and another who was on her break. Was already kind of put off by the atmosphere, but wanted to at least try to get something to eat. Barbara greeted us kindly and took our order. We sat in the front, and she quickly brought me my coffee and my boyfriend his drink. She talked with us for a bit after bringing me creamer and sugar, and she was so pleasant and nice to open up to. She left and quickly brought back our food. Personally our wait time was very low, and I think most of the problems with the wait time may come from the fact that theyre making the food in house. Our beignets were great and the coffee was decent. Barbara made sure to keep checking on us, and she was such a delight to talk to. Definitely going to go back, however, it seems you have to get lucky with which waitress you get. The other one that I saw seemed pretty unpleasant, and didnt really seem to care about her job very much from what it seemed when she was talking to one of her tables.

My co-worker and I decided to eat lunch at Port City today. Our waitress greeted us within 10 minutes of getting there. She apologized, due to "They were slammed". They had a good crowd, but several tables were empty and still full of dirty dishes. It took about 30-40 minutes for our lunch to be brought to us, which was luke warm. Our waitress only filled on drink glass while we were waiting. Other customers came in after us and got their food either right before us or when we got ours. The service we received was not acceptable. We will NOT be going back for lunch or recommending anyone to go. Unfortunately the food was good and had good flavor. We have ordered and picked up in the past. This experience really put a damper on our perspective of the resturant.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, Ive never seen this place lean anywhere near the 1 star opinions voiced here. Theres a reason theres so many 5 star reviews as opposed to 1 star. The place is a true, relaxing, quality local eating establishment. Their food has never come out anything but hot and tasty. Any intelligent eater knows some of your food isnt fixed the moment you order it. Pot roast, roasted chicken, red beans and rice. Their meals all taste like they were hand prepared that day, plenty of taste and flavor, the atmosphere is calm and enjoyable. The prices really push it over the top. Huge helping of meat, mashed potatoes, veggie of choice, roll, drink, and a small slice of cake for dessert for under 9 dollars? Yes, please.

The restaurant only had two customers when I got there. The tabkes and floors had food on them. I ordered half po boy and seafood gumbo. I was on my lunch so I took it back to my office at the bank. The gumbo was mushy rice in a cup of cooked white flour. I did not see any swafood. The po boy was 2 hard ends. This was the WORST downtown Gulfport lunch ever. I called the cafe to tell the manager, Tonya, of my poor lunch and she immediately began to justify the color of the gumbo being white before I could even finish my sentence. Seeing that the call was pointless, I apologized and hung up. Since they wont listen, I figured that I would tell someone who would. It was a total waste of $12, but a GREAT lesson learned!

Went here for breakfast after seeing it for a while and wanting to try it. my coffee came out in a filthy, old coffee cup that looked like it had been one of the staffs personal coffee cups from home that had not been washed and recently dug out of a garage. It was disgusting. When my "ham and cheese omelet" was served it was unimpressive. It did not even look like they had tried to scramble the yolks but just fried the egg and wrapped it around the chip chop lunch meat ham. Yeah, thats right, they put cold cut chip chop ham on the omelet. it was cold it was disgusting. I ate two bites of my omelet and one sip of my coffee, paid and left. I will NEVER eat at this place again. Now I know why they are so cheap.

Went to lunch with a coworker while on our one-hour break. Despite the place being maybe a third full, our orders (two fried shrimp platters) took more than half an hour to get to us, by which time we had to request that they be boxed to go. They arrived in the to-go boxes, so we didnt check on the contents before leaving. After walking back to the office, we discovered they were missing two of the platter items. What we did have (the shrimp and fries) is decent food, but because of the delay in service (attributed to a computer glitch) and the mistakes in both beverage and food service, I cant recommend going there - at least, not if youre pressed for time during a workday lunch.

My husband and I love the food here, however it seems lately service has been declining. The last time we went for breakfast we waited over 15 minutes for a cup of coffee, had to move the rag on our table to another one, and didnt get the hash browns originally ordered so we canceled the side item. Today we were going to go for breakfast, as weekdays seem to have better service than weekends, and theyre closed. There was no sign on the door as to why the normal 7am-3pm hours were not in effect today. Food has always been great, but we are going to find a regular location elsewhere.

This is one of my favorite places to go. Service was spotty for me once but with the GREAT food and good prices, I wouldnt let that keep me from going back! If you are under a time constraint, let your server know! I hope people who see these bad reviews will take them with a grain of salt... For every bad review, there are a good 10 or more who loved their food and service and who dont post because of that fact! Most people post to criticize not to praise. I have been going to the Gulfport location for approx 20 years and still love it! I want to try their beignets!

The worst food I have ever had! This place is completely nasty. It is dirty, the cups, glasses, plates and silverware you get are dirty. The servers are dirty. The food is completely disgusting and tastes like microwaved meals that youd buy at the Dollar Store. Never will I eat here again and Ive steered many of my friends away from this place, saving them from wasting their money.
