Me & a friend were attending a show at the Opera House in Sheperdstown & had no idea where to eat dinner after being told there was over an hour wait at the 1st place we stopped at. So we saw this little place Kazu across the street from the theater & decided to give it a try. It is a simple place but nice enough. The beer selection was very good. We were not sure what to get so we asked our server for some recommendations. He described a few suggestions to us & we made our choices. We were blown away at how delicious everything was! Its the kind of delicious that sticks in your mind for days after you have eaten there. The kind of delicious that you get cravings for there ever after. I had the duck basil & my friend had the chicken pad Thai. Both were out of this world but that duck is something I now MUST have. Been back several times & cant wait to go again! Highly recommend this place!

Absolutely terrible service and the food is below average. We are sitting here as I write this review it has taken 15 minutes to receive my ice tea and ordered the shrimp and garlic sauce and it was just a degree above warm. I expressed the concern to the server and she replied I dont know. The server is way out in left field. I have been managing fine dining for 20 years and I consider this is a mediocre casual restaurant and this establishment needs server training and a tweaking of the food. Take careful consideration if choosing to eat here.

I have had green curry a number of times but never had curry that tasted like cat pee and smelled like cat pee. I really wonder what went wrong with this dish and why I did not feel well after eating it...my guess is that is was bad. I also got a spring roll and it was deep fried and really greasy, not what I expect from a spring roll. I will say they were busy so maybe this was the result. We asked the waiter about the ammonia smell and he said his gf called the green curry "with bathroom"...not a good sign. Be wary.

Worth the trip! My husband and I used to live in Baltimore and ate at the wonderful Thai Landing on Charles St. every Friday. We dont go to Kazu that often but often enough to say that the food is nicely spiced and weve never had a bad meal. Their coconut-curry dishes are very tasty as is everything else, for that matter. The miso soup has just the right amount (quite a bit) of substance in a delicious broth and is the best bargain in town. Sushi is a real treat--always very fresh--try the house special!

The highlight of the visit was a fun and friendly waiter who joked around with us (4 older women) and made us laugh every time he stopped by to deliver the food or find out if we needed anything. I must say the chicken pad was the best I have ever had in my 60 years, and the other ladies all thoroughly enjoyed their appetizers and entrees. The desserts, red bean ice cream and sticky rice with mango, completed our wonderful meal. I would highly recommend the food and the service.

I thought the service was awesome, I had the Udon soup with chicken it was a huge portion, the pricing was appropriate. Considering the quality I would have paid double and left very happy. I was shocked to read the other reviews and as someone who was raised in Asia I wonder if the other reviewers know what true Asian food taste like! I live in northern Virginia and am planning another 1.5 hour trip there to enjoy another meal.

Food was disgusting and overpriced. Weve all had Thai before and loved it, but there was just something wrong with this place. None of us ate 1/2 of our food. When the waiter asked if we wanted to take our food home, we all laughed and I responded with "I really dont think so." Maybe we went there when they were having a bad night, but I know well never be back again.

Had dinner here on 28.Dec.2011 with my wife. The food was great. Service was good. Not too fast, not too slow. We were able to enjoy the meal. If you havent been, you should try this place for dinner. No need to drive to Winchester, Frederick, or Leesburg for good Thai food. Also, that French place a couple doors down looks good too.......well be back!

Called ahead to make sure their Thai Green Curry with tofu and vegetables was vegetarian (sometimes the curry paste has shrimp in it), and was told that it was. It was unmistakably fishy, and most definitely NOT vegetarian. Super disappointed and grossed out. Rice was overcooked and the curry tasted like fish sauce and not much else.

This place serves the best Green Curry I have ever had! I love it. Service is a little slow, but the food is worth the wait. The decor is old, but who really care? Not there to admire the walls :) I recommend this place if your ever near Shepherdstown and want some great Thai food. My son loves the sushi too.

Great food, and very quick and friendly service! We decided once we walked in that we would take it to go, so they sat us at a table and brought us water while we waited for our order, which was ready in about 15 minutes. The menu is fairly extensive, and we were very pleased with the dishes we ordered.

Dinner pricing is a bit steep and their hours of operation are just plain silly. It is good food, though. Service is on the slow side as others have said, but it was served fresh and piping hot. Lots of spicy options, too which is always a welcome sign to me.

Excellent Thai. The vegetable Panang curry was just what the doctor ordered this evening. Reasonably priced. Even with a late arrival, the wait staff was gracious and accommodating. Highly recommended to my G+ friends. Add an IPA or two for good measure.

A nice Thai restaurant in downtown Shepherdstown, with a good selections of dishes. Kazu also deserves credit for accommodating the wish for foods without fish products, which can be difficult to deal with in some Thai restaurants I have been to.

Please, Kazu, you are a great neighborhood restaurant. FIX YOUR WEBSITES SPELLING and change the map. Last time I checked, West Virginia University was not in Shepherdstown. You are too good for such amateur hour productions.

Overall fairly bad experience here. I had red curry with chicken and my wife had green curry. My dish was pretty good but hers came out smelling like cat pee and tasted terrible. Will not be returning.

Amazingly fresh sushi, very friendly staff and chefs. Only criticism is that their crab and cucumber salad no longer had crab. And there was a little to much lava flow in the volcano roll. But, yum.

Best authentic Japanese dishes and Thai food around. The service can be a bit slow but it is well worth it. Japanese lunch box is my favorite and the fried rice is the best Ive ever had.

Best Thai around! Excellent Sushi. The Duck with Basil is simply the best. Dont pass up the Gyoza appetizer. I lived in the Far East for nearly 4 years and Kazus always "takes me back".
