This was a cool little place. It reminds me of the bars by the ocean in San Diego--very easygoing vibe, heavy on regulars, and good food. I sat at the bar was greeted right away. Drinks came in under 3 minutes, food in under 15. Veggie Eggs Benedict were sooooo satisfying and creamy, and the presentation was beautiful. The bloody mary had a good amount of booze in it, although it strayed towards the acidic side. Could have just been the mix they use. Its obvious the staff gets along extremely well and have tenure under their belts--theyre not forgetful, theyre easygoing, and are very aware of their surroundings (which is important if youre in this business). Extra props to this place for carrying hot sauce other than Tabasco. No offense to Tabasco lovers, but sometimes people want flavors other than vinegar and peppers.

I used to love the top. I went and got macaroni and cheese. I ate half, packed it up then ate the rest for dinner that night. It was literally the only food I ate. Hours after eating the second time I ended up in the emergency room from food sickness. I was completely fine before the top. I almost guarantee some raw food somehow found its way into my food at the top. I used love this place and am truly disappointed. Sure the bartenders and the scene can be kinda busy and stingy at times but I loved it. After this I have no choice but not to trust the top anymore. I cant afford to be in the hosptiol for over a day again puking my brains out because of some novice cook in the back. I lost out on a whole day to the top. Money I cant get back as I work 7 days a week. Im pretty upset but hey thats life right..

Well what can I say. Ive been here a couple of times because of word of mouth and its close to my Job. For starters the first time I came here I was over charged. It was only a couple of dollars but its the principle that matters. Secondly, I was awarded a gift certificate for that error and thought all was good. I told myself hey Im coming back here and giving them my business again. Third, I came back for lunch and ordered to go for a friend and I. The server threw down my change on the counter. I was pleased with the order but not the server. Lastly, This is why I have a mixed opinion of Top of Tacoma. See for yourself. If you come here dont settle for less than what you deserve as far as service. I just wanted to share my experience and I hope yours is better.

Price was ok. I used to regularly go here for drinks. One night the owner threatened to throw me out saying one of her bartenders claimed i was in the night before trying to wrestle with men and causing trouble. .however Last time I was in though was nearly a month prior. So my whole visit i had the owner watching me after not believing me and still threatened me even after telling her. I only visited it once or twice more after that. Its in the heart of the tacoma tweaker ghetto and used to be their fav spot when it was Harrys tavern which kept me away already. Check out the Hard Luck Bar by 112th and Pacific ave. Its way better.

Amazing food! This is our go to bar when were thirsty and need some good food. The caesar salad is the best Ive ever had. Now I compare other places caesars to theirs, they still have the best! Pork belly bahn mi, homemade mac and cheese, and the tacos are some of our favorites. They have a big selection. Good drinks, the servers are very friendly and recognize faces if you start coming once every couple weeks. If you come at a busy time, you can go up to the counter to order food and drinks. This is helpful because it gets really busy on some nights like Fri and Sat, and the servers are swamped.

I drop into The Top every now and then am never disappointed. Best sandwich place that Ive been to in Tacoma, bar none. Great selection of beers, too. Im not sure what people mean by this being a "hipster place", though. I see all sorts of people from different walks of life - middle aged people, older people, young "hipsters", white, brown, yellow, etc - and theyre always having a good time. The T-Town Grinder and Bee Knees are my fave sandwiches (and a few other specials that show up now and then), but everything on the menu is good. I do miss that juke box, though.

Been coming here for years. Very observant to the staff and customers. Never had to pay outrageous prices like most typical greedy bars. Food is excellent. Staff work hard to tend a lot of entitled babies who come in off the street and handle it well. Regular customers who enjoy the place and company keep coming back for a reason. To the people rating bad and judging the place as a hood place. Get bent you entitled privileged scum. Come in and check it out. Know its small and personable and always busy so be patient. And dont be a drunk rude idiot. ;)

Deserves more stars! Last year i moved under a mile from this bar. It quickly became my favorite bar. The staff that i have met have been great. They have the best bar food of any place i have ever been. Waits on food can be long even when they are not real busy but its very worth it. Drinks are reasonable, specials are great, atmosphere is awesome. I cant recommend it enough. Edit: I still come here regularly. Its still just as if not more awesome. They have a bigger menu and more hours!!!

The reviews of this bar must be written by employees or friends of employees. Ive been there twice. Both times I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I sat at the bar and watched the bartender do nothing for a full minute before he deigned to make eye contact with me. I felt like it was a membership only club. The atmosphere, the drinks, the food, the prices are just average. Small hole in the wall bar on a street that is famous for scummier than scummy dive bars. The service sucked.

I rarely write reviews, especially on Google. After reading some of the negative reviews I just had to. I have been going to the Top since they first opened. Why? Good food, good service and quality staff. PERIOD! I do not frequent the Top during busy times, because I know what to expect, it is busy! If you have never worked in the service industry you might not understand this. Or maybe you just think the world revolves around your ass, It does not. Keep up the good work guys!

Ive been going to The Top for almost 9 years. The staff are friendly, fast, and hustle for their guests! The food is top notch bar food. Ive eaten 90% of the items on the menu, and only had a problem or sent back food 3 times, so only once every 3 years or so! They have great daily themes...Microbrew Mondays, Well Drink Wednesdays ($2), etc. They also have daily food specials on the chalkboard just inside the door, be sure to check it out! The Top is #1 in my book!

This place is quite the surprise! You couldnt tell by the looks of it, but this place has some of the best food in town! The staff is quirky and nice, very attentive. This place is so busy, youre lucky to get a table. You might end up sitting with a stranger, but thats ok, you get to meet cool people. They have great happy hour, too! Taco Thursdays are always a hit! This place never disappoints. My favorite menu item is the steak quesadilla. Trust me! So good!
