My mom loves this place so I take her here occasionally. The reason not weekly is noted at the end of review. Homestead plays mostly old time country music and in the large room in the front they play really cool old black and white westerns and the old time cartoons. We love that! The food is really good and normally large portions. The biscuits are normally HUGE homemade, but today they were normal smallish ones. That was a disappointment. We always look forward to the GIANT homemade ones. The pies are great and so very tasty. Ooooohhhh! The homemade cinnamon rolls are the size of a pie! They are SUPER HUGE! And delightful to the senses. They also offer home baked breads. The actual foods are usually great and they do not skimp on portions. The employee team is stable and super nice. Its nice to see the same faces year after year. The little lady who owns the place is also delightful. They are all a hard working team that makes this place what it is. We go out of our way to go here. That is how good it is. They also offer a military discount. Even 30 years ago they supported the military with a discount. The only negative thing I can offer is, they really need to step up with their coffee. It is better than most but offering flavored creamer would put it over the top. That is actually why I dont take my mom and son there weekly. Im pathetic and need my flavored creamer. I take them about every 2-3 months. Add flavored creamer, it would be weekly. That "one place" that offers flavored creamer is where I take them weekly. I would much rather go to Homestead because the food is soooooo much better but the coffee needs flavored creamer.

Ive been here six times before writing this review. This is my favorite breakfast spot in Lakewood. Our favorite menu items are: 1. Wagon Wheel - the ultimate breakfast sandwich in a cinnamon roll. You might have to take it home if you dont come hungry. 2. Eggs Benedict - its good. Not the best Ive had, but youll be happy with it. 3. Chicken & Waffle - the waffle is crispy & chewy. You get a breast, thigh, and leg. I think its pretty good but its still not homemade... 4. Cinnamon Roll French Toast - my wife gets this all the time. 5. The Mess - you cant beat fresh, not frozen, hash browns. • Homesteader Burger was just okay. • Chicken strips are average. My daughter always gets these. If anyone wants chicken, get the Chicken & Waffle instead. • Friendly service but sometimes slow when its a little busy. • Plenty of parking in the back.

I really enjoyed this place, have gone twice now in the same month. Maybe my dad had a bad batch, but his homemade pot pie was really salty, and well not that special even though the manager said it was a big seller. I will make a positive note and say the crust was excellent. Chicken fried steak was good, gravy was homemade, portion size was great. We picked up some biscuits on the way out, and I think thats one of the biggest surprises. I get weary on biscuits, Ive encountered some so-so to bleh. I would go back, just to eat the biscuits! The "garbage burger" or a mushroom swiss burger was good, but didnt give me a "wow factor," but still good. I would go to this place if your in the area. I hope your experience will be as pleasant.

I ordered a hot turkey sandwich for lunch today. The online menu said $12.99. When I called I asked if the turkey was white meat. The lady on the phone said yes. I also said that I have not eaten a hot turkey from there and was concerned if enough gravy would come with the meal. So I also asked for some gravy on the side. After getting my bill I noticed that they charged me $3.79 plus tax for a side of gravy. It wouldve been nice had they told me this when I asked about gravy and the quantity on the food. The Turkey also was half dark meat. The bill? $22.19!!!! I did order a coke with the meal as well. Anyhow, $22 bucks for lunch is crazy. That is about enough for lunch for a whole week.

My partner and I had the breakfast. I had the wagon wheel breakfast and she had the chicken fried steak. Mine was good but I looked at her plate and committed on the meat looking a little off. She said it tasted ok. We paid our bill and left to go home. After being home 2hrs she complained about her tummy hurting and not feeling too good. Literally minutes after saying that she ran to the bathroom with bad diarrhea and puking for what seemed ages. Im sure the meat was off or not cooked properly. She was sick all last night from it. Will never order anything like that again.

Food was good as well as service. Only problem I have is with their shady chef. My daughters food wasnt cooked fully (pork chops). The waitress took it back. 20 minutes later my daughter is still without food. We stated that after all this time we should get it free. The waitress was understanding and went to deal with it. We found out that the chef threw the food out and thats why it was not charged on the check. This wasnt what we asked for, and by this time we were ready to leave. Whatever chef was working at this time doesnt like any criticism to his work, it seems.

The Service Was AMAZING. There was only one woman working. I cant recall her name. Anyhow, The food was absolutely disgusting. My Sister, Myself and My Daughter Ended Up with food poisoning. #Chicken Fried Steak Both The Breakfast and Dinner Meal. The Gravy Was Excessive The Meat Tasted As If It Was Microwaved The Vegetables Were Soggy and Cold. The Strawberry Lemonade, Homemade Biscuit, Salad and Banana Pie Were The Only Decent Things Served. I hope they were just having a bad day. I had very high expectations.
