Consistently great food. The chef takes great care and pride in his cooking. The food is primarily Italian, but the chef is from Algeria, which might explain some surprising choices. A bare hint of cinnamon in the beef roulade, a note of cumin in the delicious ravioli. French, North African, and Mediterranean influences coming together for some really special food. He is rightfully proud of his work and if you ask him about it it, he will talk about his methods and choices like a musician. The atmosphere, the delight the owners take in making and serving food, and the quality of the food, make this my favorite place to go out for a good meal in the neighborhood. Heck, its one of my favorite places in the whole city.

All the food we ordered were SUPER delicious! And I mean all..everyone in the group agrees to it. We got lobster ravioli, lamb shank, chicken marsala, greek salad, sauteed spinach mushroom, caprese, tiramisu, cannoli and baklava. Will have to take pictures of the food next time! Abe, the owner and chef is super friendly and you can tell that hes passionate about food. When we looked at the menu, it wasnt very impressive BUT once you speak to Abe and try the food he recommends, its a whole other world. Zouave is a MUST try! Thanks for the delicious dinner Abe :)

The food was great. We got the antipasto salad for a starter which was fantastic. The cheese and meat selection was unique, flavorful, and fresh. Then we got the lobster, crab, and prawn raviolis which were delectable. The sauce was creamy and full of flavor and the ravioli and meat were cooked just right. At the end of our meal, Abe, the legendary chef and proprietor stopped by and thanked us for dining there tonight. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

I judge any Italian restaurant by its Eggplant Parmesan. This was one of the tastiest ever. A terrific hole-in-the-wall neighborhood institution, named for the Berber Italian heritage of its menu and chef: Italian with Mediterranean and North African hints. Homely, family-style, and delicious.

Take me back to this place. One word: Yum! The Sea Urchin pasta - delish! The Branzino - mouth watering. The pizzas - a savory delight. Their olive oil - some of the best. Its no wonder this place is always packed. Not only is it worth it, but they will have you coming back for more.

Dinner twice in one week. Amazing each time. Any dish, any way you want. Lamb shank, cioppino, marsala, wilted spinch salad, poached pears, etc etc etc. Prices are ridiculously good. Chef/owner is so personable, loves his work and appreciates his customers. Nice outside deck. .

This place is an incredible neighborhood secret. The owner makes delicious Italian and other Mediterranean dishes that are lush and served at an amazing price. The lamb oso bucco and paella were both excellent. They also make a mean sangria! I highly recommend this place.

We live within walking distance so we have eaten here many times. We always love what we get. The food is always fantastic, the service very friendly, and the chef is willing to make entrees that are within my dietary restrictions on request. I highly recommend Zouave.

This restaurant was recommended to me by the owners sister as a must stop during my summer trip. Awesome service, delicious food, and great atmosphere! The lamb shank was so succulent, and the chicken marsala was great! The tiramisu was perfection.

Antipasto was delicious. Quiet here on a tuesday night. Cute and quaint little restaurant. The kids loved their pasta with marinara and meat. The entrees were also delicious. Desserts were delicious. Highly recommend.

Have gone here so many times- amazing staff, great food, and always satisfied. Sometimes it may take longer because it is a small business but it is totally worth it.

This is my new best place. Zouave has catered two very important family and friends events with excellent food. It was more than enough and good after freezing.
