I recently hosted my husbands 40th birthday in their mezzanine. First the space was great...it was not just some boring event space, but a nice area with large windows, light wood, a small couch, lovely succulents and cacti in vintage vases/pots, lots of beer pictures/plaques etc. I was very glad I had not spent tons of time and energy on decorations...just a happy birthday banner and we were set. The area is "above" the restaurant and its not exactly quiet, but it was just fine for a crowd like us (but something to consider if youre needing quiet). Second the service...Kelsey helped get the space reserved and with planning and ordering the menu, all via email. She was great. And due to the size of our group we had our own server, Sarah, who was on point all night, not to mention that all food, plates, beers had to come up a flight of stairs and eventually back down. She also helped me keep in check how many pitchers of beer were going on my tab, and graciously opened tabs for folks wanting more beer or other wine, spirits I did not provide. Third the food...we reserved this spot knowing we already liked the food and the party/buffet style food was great. We ordered a handful of snack plates (hummus, cheese, charcuterie), party size salads and mac and cheese and at least a half dozen pizzas. Folks really enjoyed the food and with Kelseys help we had just the right amount (OK, so we took home probably a pizza worth of left overs, but believe me come Sunday morning it was very welcomed!). The location is great too...we had a handful of kiddos and being next to a "park" they were able to get their wiggles out when they got bored with the adults. Overall a really great experience and my husband was beyond happy with it. We will continue to grab nosh here before movies and recommend to anyone hosting a party.

We decided to eat here because we were going to a movie at Northgate and would only have to park once. It was a party of 3 for lunch the Saturday before Christmas. The place was pretty quiet. Our server was a sweet young woman, however, she didnt write down our order. The food took a long time to arrive. Then, out of the three meals, TWO came back incorrect. My sandwich had onions (which make me break out in hives, but I could pick them off, so not a huge deal) and my salad had the wrong dressing. Wed waited so long that I decided this wasnt worth making a fuss over. However, the third meal was completely wrong - entirely the wrong dish *and* one that was several dollars cheaper than the one that was ordered (a regular hash instead of the Reuben one). When we were finally able to flag down the waitress to let her know, she apologized profusely and said shed let the kitchen know. She finally returned with the missing pastrami and special dressing - but it was only much later that we realized she never brought out the sauerkraut. I know that waiting tables is hard and believe she was trying her best, but without writing things down, this kind of mistake is easy to make. I emailed the restaurant twice with a friendly suggestion that they give their servers pads to write orders down on. Nothing. No apology, no confirmation that my email was received. Mistakes can happen, but to ignore customer feedback is something else. The food was ok - on a par with mall chain restaurants, so not at the level youd hope for from an independent place. It was our first, and last, visit.

Had an interesting experience here recently. We went on a Sunday evening when it wasnt particularly busy. After waiting about 40 minutes from ordering, our waiter came up to us and said "I have some good news and some bad news: Our receipt printer ran out of paper and your order never went through, but I just put it in now"... Im still waiting on the good news. At that point, we told him we were seeing a movie that started in another 45 minutes. We patiently waited some more and our pizza ended up showing up with about 20 minutes until the movie, so needless to say, we were in quite a rush to eat. The pizza was not bad; a little on the charred side for my liking, but it had potential. We also struggled to get our water refilled throughout this time. Our waiter returned near our deadline, knowing we had a upcoming movie, and dropped off the check. We waited a few minutes, but he was in no rush to process the card, so we went up to the bar to pay. They discounted a few dollars from our check only after we had to ask for it, but it was hardly worth it in hindsight. We ended up being close to 10 minutes late to our movie. Id think about going again based solely on the pizza and the proximity to the movie theater, but they really did not give a great first impression and hope they work on their customer service for the future.

Ive been here twice and I wont be coming back for thirds. The first time we stopped by for a quick bite before a movie next door. Pizza was bland and doughy. They have a nice tap selection; nitro beers included which is nice. The second time we visited we were harrassed by a crazy waitress who wouldnt serve us, even though we provided IDs. She accused us of using fake IDs (lolwat) and lying to her and then wouldnt return our IDs. Btw Im 33 yrs old with a beard and beergut. As we got up to leave and I offerred to call the police, she apologzed and offerred to serve us and repeated "guys Im just trying to do the right thing" about 5 times. We said fine and ordered a couple beers. Beers were fine as they were the first time. I asked a different waiter for the bill and paid him in cash. As we left, the original waitress, red faced and possibly under the influence of something, raced after us and accussed us of not paying. We pointed to the other waiter and I let her know we paid in cash and then we walked out. This girl also said it was her restaurant, as in she was the owner. I dont know if thats true or not but it doesnt really matter. Anyway, if you want a spot to get a drink before seeing a movie next door then this is a decent option if you dont mind possibly getting treated like a criminal. Id eat elsewhere.

Watershed Pub was a delightfully unexpected gem. I discovered them online in reference to their 3rd Annual Black and Brew Fest, and their selection was superb! Truly exceptional dark beer, many of which Ive never had before. (My favorite was from Midnight Sun.) They offered 4 oz pours of all 6 from their featured brewery, with a souvenir glass, for $13!!! A huge plus, particularly considering the location and building style, was learning that this pub is a locally-owned and independent business. The owners were there, happy to lend a hand to their staff and chat with us about beer, food, and business. The bartenders were fantastic; totally into beer, attentive, and personable. (Luke, John, and Javier, that shout-out is for you!) We tried a couple apps, a pie fold, and sammy, all of which we were really happy with. (And were pretty darn picky about what well spend money on!) All in all, we had an amazing first experience, and plan to be back regularly. They offer their patrons discounted movie tickets for the theater next door, so date night just got that much simpler. ;) Lots of events during the month, from fundraisers for non-profits to trivia to live music, so theres something for everyone. Support a local pub doing it right!!
