Overall this place is out-gunned by other options in and around Ballard. Try another place for fresh seafood. This place is in an awesome spot outside of the Locks. The decor is a bit outdated with aged carpet and random themes going on - no big deal. The food was not flavorful. We had the calamri, pesto salmon and fish and chips. The fish and chips were the best of the bunch but not on par with other fish and chips weve had in Seattle proper. Much of the food seemed to be frozen at some point due to mushiness and salty taste. Service was sluggish and we never were asked for refills or anything. Food didnt take too long to arrive. The staff, in general, seemed understaffed and unorganized.

The service was poor beyond description at the Lock Spot. I came in with two friends from out of state, and two little girls. We waited for more than 45 minutes for a simple lunch. The waitress seemed to be on something because she could not recall simple requests like crackers for our children. People who came in around us were served and out of there before we receive our food. I finally went to the kitchen as the waitress was MIA, and asked for crackers, and was treated with indignation! Finally, the food came and it was not what was ordered. DO NOT GO HERE!! SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND AGGRAVATION! Go across the street to Taco Bell. At least there you wont be treated shabbily.

Wanted a cheap late night snack, so I ordered take-out (couple of clam chowders and grilled cheeses). They said the order would be ready in 15 minutes or so, but when I arrived there 15 minutes later, it took about 5 extra minutes of sitting around before the food was actually in my hands. When I actually got back to my place which is only a few minutes away, the clam chowder was cold. It didnt seem like it was heated even recently, and I questioned the sanitation of it so I had to toss it. The grilled cheeses were okay, but I really came for the clam-chowder, so this place completely failed. I wouldnt encourage a dive like this.

Fish tacos were absolutely great. Great flavor, decent size, & just plain looked delicious in the basket of fries that came with them. You can enter the small tavern itself, I didnt, or go to the side of the building and order straight from the kitchen that operates like a food stand. Theres not a lot of seating/tables available in the outside, but I dont think thats an issue to bargain if youre deciding whether to get classic American seafood fare, especially since its fast food. Located right next to the Ballard locks, I recommend this if you just want to get a quick fill before hitting the road.

this place is great. all these naysayers voting 1 star, screw them. if your a yuppie pure bread food snob, that cant appreciate the simple things in life, (listen below) then go to france and get your nipples pinched while you eat cheese and bread. for the rest of the world, that appreciates board games with friends, fish and chips, maybe a cold beer or 2 to wash down a delicious BLT, this is the place for you. bring your mom, your friends, heck, bring grandpa. I do. and we love this spot. Thanks for reading!

Weve eaten at the Lockspot Cafe several times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is congenial with cozy booths and rustic decorations on the wall. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food has always been served in a timely manner. Ive had the fish and chips there and they tasted great. The only negative comment I would make is that it is a little difficult to get in and out of the parking lot due to the location, and parking spaces are limited.

I have been going to The Lockspot since the late seventies but no more. Over all these years, the service was their hallmark and then it was SO good, it could make up for failings in other areas. These other areas ebbed and flowed over the years, and service kept it great. There is no more service at The Lockspot, maybe it has to do with brief fame from a reality show. Here is reality: Your long term customers and your good name. What a waste.

The food, drinks, and service are exactly what you would expect to get when you look at this tired old and outdated business. They are all run down, tired, and need a major rehab. Too long has this place been successful based solely on their location. Time to go. Make way for something that would better serve locals and tourists of the locks.

The bright side of this place is the location, right outside the Locks. The story ends there. Service is slow and the food tastes awful, the fish and chips tasted like frozen food even the sauce tastes like the cheapest off-brand from a supermarket. The Frozen Ivans Chowder taste better than the frozen brand they serve at this place.

Relaxed neighborhood bar with great fish & chips. The staff is always friendly and efficient. If you want a normal, comfortable place where you can get a very good meal and a cold beer stop here. If if want a cool, chic, trendy place that will be closed in 6 months go somewhere else.

This minimally decorated pub serves up some tasty meals in a great spot. Before heading to the locks we stopped in for a bite. The take out menu was a bit limited, but inside there were more options. The seafood platter and Philly cheese steak were great.

Fish and chips were meh, but the steamer clams appetizer was to die for, even if a bit pricey - the broth was almost better than the succulent shellfish. Beer and service were great too. We went for a late lunch, after visiting the locks.

If you want REAL fish & chips (the kind that are bigger than 1 bite) this IS the place to go! They have the best cod fish and chips around! The staff is friendly and efficient! Thanks Lockspot Cafe for a great lúnch!!!

We stumbled on this place by accident and are we ever glad. The fish and chips was excellent! We took advantage of the outdoor seating, so we didnt get the "whole" experience, but we really enjoyed it!

The fish and chips were disappointingly bland. Not bad, just mediocre. The locations great, though, right next to Ballard Locks, and theres a nice outside seating area and ordering window out front.

Fast and friendly wait staff, teamed with the best fish and chips this side of the loch. Makes this restaurant a must for lunch or dinner. Would reccommend it to anyone, including my Mom!

Bland coffee run by racists. They gave me looks and whispered with each other about my race and behavior. They still have a business simply because of being in front of a popular park.

I stopped by with a buddy to meet a couple of other guys and was treated brusquely by the bartender. We had wanted to grab dinner with two other friends but decided to leave instead.

Food was very well prepared. Prices a little high but expected due to locale. Service was very friendly but slow. Quaint, comfortable, vintage nautical theme decor.

West there after watching the Deadliest Catch filming on TV. Its a whimsical old place with good food, well situated right outside the Ballard Lock.
