1960s decor. Perfect for a coffee shop breakfast or lunch. Location? Behind mega corporation buildings, hidden from the grind... a throwback in time with a twist: very good food. I didnt like this place when I first went here years ago - too much like a traditional coffee shop from an era gone past where the food was okay but ehhh. Now, I understand that the new owners are the very same that owned Small Shed Flatbread in downtown Mill Valley. That place had great salads, sandwiches, and of course, bread. Not knowing this, I hesitated when my friend suggested we take the kids there. I only agreed (thinking in my head) that its one of those "do it for the kids" treks. I was surprised. I looked at the menu and its expanded. I thought, okay lets see... brunch. BLT. When it came, the bread was glorious and the rest of the ingredients fresh and tasty. One of the best BLTs Ive had. I was shocked because I had the old memory. The fries too were great. The eggs (my friend got) looked great too (and I dont really like eggs alone that much). Taste. Check. Presentation. Check. Service. Coffee shop level - expectation check. About the only downside is its a tad higher than you typical coffee shop pricing but not out of line. It has to stay in line as this isnt downtown Mill Valley and they wont be around for long if it becomes unreasonable. People must think the same because it was full with a steady stream of people coming and going. The Dipsea has some serious, if not charming competition with character and of course, great food.

This is the least pretentious restaurant I have found in Mill Valley. Plusses include french press Four Barrel coffee and classic coffee shop menu and decor with some flair. The only real downside is that the prices are a bit high, though on par with Mill Valley. Menu tends toward a combination of local sources, coffee shop staples like bacon and eggs and Mexican.

Local, mostly organic, creative breakfast and lunch options with friendly staff in an unpretentious atmosphere. Really above excellent coffee and housemade chorizo. Always changing special breakfast burritos and scrambles made with fresh seasonal ingredients. If youre looking for an omelette, try elsewhere (though theyd probably make you one if you asked nicely).

Love this place! This is my wife and Is favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Mill Valley without question. The food is delicious and fresh (and locally sourced), the service is straight forward and genuine, and it lacks all of the pretenses that you learn to deal with in Mill Valley. Skip Dipsea Cafe and head across the street for better food and no line.

I just moved from SF and my boyfriend surprised me and I am in love with this place. The menu is creative, healthy and gluten free option. Coffee is super strong and dark but not bitter, so its perfect. I tend to get the avocado with toast and the eggs on the side. Service isnt the best but never rude so Im ok with that.

Late breakfast and thought wed try SCS again. Sorry to say the food and service was awful. The beans cold and dry, and the Mexicano eggs also dry -- this after our order got lost and the server placed waffle syrup on the table for our order!

Food was excellent! I recommend the breakfast barrito and tacos. Great local diner with fresh food and yummy coffee. Only bad thing was service was a bit slow, but that may have been because we were in the far back corner.

Very good coffee, but I dont get the hoopla. I ordered the Machaca Hash, minus one egg. It was mainly potatoes and I was charged for both eggs. Unless the potatoes (or eggs) are magic — a ridiculous dish at 15 dollars.

Theres more than meets the eye here. Flapjacks were great and so was the coffee (other coffee shop and diner owners take note!). Good service and price, considering everything is local and organic!

Friendly little place with parking in front and a convenient store across the road. Good place to catch coffee and breakfast. And they open early too.

Good food, normal service, but way too pricy. Paid $46 for two simple breakfasts. I would definitely return if the price was closer to other diners.

My favorite part about Sunday mornings is how long it takes me to decide what to order at Shoreline Coffee Shop... because EVERYTHING is good.

Pretty cozy, good food, nice service. Coffee and tea $3.5 each and a tasty breakfast burrito for $10. Satisfying snack after Muir Woods hike.
